What was your experience of morning sickness and early pregnancy? Was it just nausea / vomiting or did you have other symptoms too such as dizziness?

Gosh some of you sound like you had / have it so bad! Did you manage to cope in work and if so, how?

It felt like a hangover minus the headache. So just that queezy stomach feelings and a bit groggy. I wasn't actually sick very often but felt like I wanted to sick alot. Magically disappeared around 13 weeks.

Felt like I'd been spun around on the waltzers at the fair many many times. Never actually sick, though.

First pregnancy, an awful hollow sort of sickness feeling. No actual vomiting but just felt drained and empty all of the time and had to graze constantly to keep the hollow feeling away. It lifted by around 14wks.

Pregnancies 2 and 3, vomiting all day long from around a week after missed period until approx 20wks. Any strong smells set me off so I lived on sherbert lemon sweets, baked potato, and sparkling water.

Pregnancy 4, constant vomiting from three days before my period was even due. Everything smelled foul, even plain water smelled vile. Noises made me feel dizzy which made me feel sick so then I'd vomit. Had a scan at 8wks and the feel of the gel on my stomach made me sick, ended up having an internal scan so sat there semi-reclined on this half-bed/half-chair thing having that done while a nurse held a dish under my chin and DH held my hair back. Was booked for a GTT, Trust policy for all mothers over 35, and it had to be abandoned. I drank the beaker of orange swill, realised it wasn't going to happen, and promptly vomited it straight back into the beaker. I was ill for the whole nine months and ended the pregnancy 10lbs lighter than I was when it started (and that's not including 9lb baby plus whatever placenta/amniotic fluid weighs). It was the worst sickness I've ever had, I felt like I was shrivelled up and inside out.

I never did get morning sickness during two pregnancies.

Instead, I had the most horrendous heartburn, almost all the way through. Was on medication, but it was never completely controlled. Horrible.

Hangover, travel sick, flu all rolled i to one. I had hyperemisses everytime. Even the drs were amazed i kept having babies. Someone described it as a hollow feeling and yeah that sums it up, i was empty, no fluid no food. Lost so much weight. I was signed off work everytime . Then i would get spd and signed off again. And yet i still love being pregnant ...mad muchHmm

For me it was like permanent travel sickness between bouts of throwing up, with heightened sensitivity to smells on top of that. It was grim. Oh the relief when it finally stopped all three times at between 22 weeks & 24 weeks & I could enjoy being pregnant.

Mayday01 · 26/08/2018 13:39

It was like I was poisoned, I felt sick and ill to my bones. Had hyperemesis though.
Smells were overwhelming, in particular I couldn't stand the smell of men. Who knew they had a particular smell!

kaytee87 · 26/08/2018 13:41

Constant nausea, all day long with interspersed sickness. Also a permanent fog of exhaustion, like I had the flu or something. Lasted until about 14 weeks.

Talith · 26/08/2018 13:43

Unrelenting nausea from 6 to 13 weeks. If I took Stemetil the moment my eyes opened in the morning sometimes I could see it off but usually not. I lived on Andrews powders and lucozade.

kaytee87 · 26/08/2018 13:43

Oh yeah and so many things stank. I couldn't stomach any kind of meat or fresh fruit & veg. Survived on toast, potatoes and ready salted crisps for 3 months.
Near the end I craved melon and strawberries and ate them by the bucket load!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 26/08/2018 13:48

Like I was stuck on a bad car journey with constant nausea. I thought I had a sick bug earlier as it was very full on the first few weeks, then I was just sick every morning up until 8 months (but it was a lot) the nausea didn't go until I gave birth, suddenly he was out and I felt I could eat anything, rather than a select few bits of food I could handle.

MagicMix · 26/08/2018 14:10

Like travel sickness. Utterly miserable. Couldn't stomach a lot of foods and some smells would turn my stomach. I vomited once a day first thing but never at any other times. Nothing relieved the nausea, and I tried a lot of things. Luckily I usually felt OK by late afternoon and it tapered off and disappeared in the 2nd trimester.

2nd pregnancy I didn't get it at all, was like a miracle!
