Name changed as very obvious.

DH was knocked off his motorbike yesterday, was airlifted to a major trauma unit. His leg is smashed to pieces. He's in theatre now and will be for about 6 hrs. He started a new job last week which I think he'll loose. We have two kids.

Sat in hospital waiting.

Sorry to hear that border. That's rubbish. Hope the operation goes ok. Flowers

HarshingMyMellow · 22/08/2018 16:26

Oh OP, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Hand hold for you.

I'm here to talk also Thanks

Haberpop · 22/08/2018 16:26

No wonder you need a handhold, how is he apart from the leg? Fingers crossed the 6 hours pass swiftly Flowers

Badgertastic · 22/08/2018 16:26

So sorry for your situation. Sending some positive thoughts and a hug your way. Flowers

Mrspimplepopper · 22/08/2018 16:27

Ohhh bless you. How old are your dc?

Singlenotsingle · 22/08/2018 16:27

Hard to know what to say except deepest sympathies and hope he gets well soon. Must stay away from motorbikes in future.

Borderscotch · 22/08/2018 16:27

Thanks. Feeling a bit tearful now, have been very focused up to now. I am very tired so that's not helping.

Apart from the leg and some rib fractures he's OK. Our DS's are 10 and 7

Mrspimplepopper · 22/08/2018 16:32

Why would your dh loose his job?

Try and take care of yourself. Have you eaten something?

Borderscotch · 22/08/2018 16:36

I just assumed they may but they have been so lovely and concerned. Heads a bit all over the place

Had a few biscuits, will try to have something soon.

Can you get out for some fresh air while he's in theatre? Would he be able to do some work from home while he is recuperating or isn't it that kind of job?

Borderscotch · 22/08/2018 17:04

Had a walk, just forcing some pasta down. His job is manual and physical unfortunately

Thinking of you. Designated trauma centres are fantastic, he is in the best place possible. Sorry to hear your concerns about his job. My friend's DF was in a bad car accident and it was an accident where another driver was at fault. Their insurance covered loss of earnings for him for a significant period of time. He had to learn to walk again because his leg was 'shattered' according to the surgeons.

Borderscotch · 22/08/2018 17:41

I think I may be unfair to his work, its my opinion but they have been very kind. It's no fault here too. The solicitors linked to his insurance has been in contact. Police were absolutely fabulous and so supportive last night and today whilst trying to locate hisd wallet etc. Feel much more level headed after food. Was worried they may not let me see him if he gets back to ward after visiting but just spoke with them and they said it will be fine. I only stop briefly and he's in a side room anyway.

Sorry my opinion about him losing his job, they have said nothing to indicate it

I’m so sorry OP; what a shock! The main thing is that he’s getting the best treatment. Sending best wishes for his recovery. Look after yourself💐

MrsMozart · 22/08/2018 17:52

A hug and a handhold from me lass.

I hope he heals quickly and well Flowers

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/08/2018 18:31

Oh that sounds really stressful for you. Hope that the surgery goes smoothly. Are the children being looked after so you don't have to worry about them?

Glad to hear the police and DH's employers have been good. Sure the NHS will be too.

Borderscotch · 22/08/2018 20:00

The NHS has been amazing and the air ambulance (ironically we did a charity motorbike ride for them once).

Still waiting

Fingers crossed for you, just yesterday there was an item on the radio about what fantastic improvements the trauma units have made to outcomes for people in serious accidents. They spoke to a biker who'd had a really bad accident and was out of hospital in days.

Insurance might cover costs if he can't work for a while.

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/08/2018 20:40

Sorry to hear you're still waiting. I'm no good at telling jokes or anything. Can you get a cuppa? At least it gives you something to do.

MrsMozart · 22/08/2018 20:44

I hope there's been some movement.

Accountant222 · 22/08/2018 21:17

Wishing you and your family the best x

pieceofpurplesky · 22/08/2018 21:19

Thinking of you and yours OP Thanks
