Name changed as very obvious.

DH was knocked off his motorbike yesterday, was airlifted to a major trauma unit. His leg is smashed to pieces. He's in theatre now and will be for about 6 hrs. He started a new job last week which I think he'll loose. We have two kids.

Sat in hospital waiting.

I have a huge amount of family and friends to support, I am very lucky.

I hope he makes a speedy recovery Flowers

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/08/2018 12:43

Glad you've got support. Hope you both get some comfort from your visit later.

parklives · 24/08/2018 17:52

Wishing you dh a speedy recovery op Thanks

Borderscotch · 24/08/2018 21:52

Thank you. He was a OK today, bit groggy but he is having blood sugar issues.

Not having a good morning. DS's playing up (understandably) feel like I have neglected them but DH needs me too. He's leg issues are stable but they have concerns about his heart rate and he is still on oxygen, I just wasn't expecting the medical issues, naively thought it would just be his leg. Just sat and cried and now feel guilty the boys saw me upset.

@Borderscotch How is he doing now? I hope they're happier with his heart rate and that he is feeling more comfortable. How are you and the children?

Borderscotch · 29/08/2018 07:10

Heart rate and everything has settled now, thank you for asking QueenCity

He is still waiting for a follow up xray, been a few days now they have said he was having one. Will chase it up today.

He is a bit down, which is to be expected.

The boys are coping OK, eldest is still angry that it happened and that the lady did it, I think the autism is showing there. I have emailed the school to ask for support for him when he does back (he was a school refuser at times last year and didn't want to go back this year), next week will be very tricky as they go back to shook and I am due to go back to work too.

Shook??? School!

MrsMozart · 29/08/2018 07:34

I hope the school can help.

Hugs lass.

MrsMozart · 30/08/2018 21:29

How you all doing?

Borderscotch · 30/08/2018 23:12

Thanks for asking MrsMozart he might be coming home! Which seems ridiculous but guess there is not benefit in him being there is its just healing and physio. It will be better logistically but tough I think.

Home will be good, just remember to take some time for yourself and don't try to be all things to all people lass Flowers

MrsJonesAndMe · 31/08/2018 20:29

Just come to check in. Hope that you are OK and looking after yourself too. Must be very stressful for you to balance everyone's needs.

Borderscotch · 31/08/2018 20:54

He's on his way back. I'm OK, one thing at a time

Borderscotch · 05/09/2018 06:36

Well he's home first few days were horrendous but things are settling, we can get off the bed to the loo with help now and shuffle 10 steps. He was doing it in hospital but the transition home left him exhausted and he had trained physios helping him there.

Roystonv · 05/09/2018 06:44

Wishing you and your family all the best at this difficult time, whilst it will not be a quick recovery I hope it is a smooth and straight one from now on (though I bet atm it feels impossible Flowers).

LyraLieIn · 05/09/2018 06:44

That sounds so tough.

I hope school goes well for your boys and this week goes better than feared. Are you going back to work?

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/09/2018 19:55

(((hugs))))

Borderscotch · 06/09/2018 20:36

Thanks all. Return to school has been remarkably smooth. Hospital discharge was a mess and as a result had to do lots of chasing up but seem to be sorted now. Think the reality of the extent of his injuries has hit DH, but it's early days. Have a follow up next week

WrongKindOfFace · 06/09/2018 20:43

The poo bloke (and poor you). Hope his recovery goes well.

WrongKindOfFace · 06/09/2018 20:43

The POOR bloke. Blush

MrsMozart · 06/09/2018 21:44

I hope all starts to heal as quickly and as well as possible.

Borderscotch · 12/09/2018 06:28

Our check up yesterday didn't bring great news. He should expect to be off work for a year. There was a lot of if it heals, do you understand how serious this injury is. I was expecting it I guess but it still came as a shock.
