Stansted airport parking - I am an idiot

For the first time ever I haven’t noted down or photographed where the car is in Stansted mid stay and I have no memory of it. Our flight gets in late and I’m faced with trawling kids round most of the car park before a 3 hour drive (then I have to get up at crack of dawn for an early hospital appt). I know we weren’t in the early letters, but I can’t even find what letter the car park goes up to online.

I am such a fool. There’s nothing I can do here beyond trawl each letter once I arrive, is there? No clue where to get off the bus for the airport or anything 😩

You’ll find it one way or another - hopefully easily with help from bbc! Or... You could appeal to the car park admin people who presumably have cameras. I do hope you don’t let this spoil your holiday. I wish I were near there to help.

Hope you get it sorted. I do have a fond memory of arriving at Manchester airport with my dad circa 1985 in the most horrendous rain and us having to trawl up and down looking for it for what seemed like a lifetime. I actually found it all quite funny at the time. Hopefully your kids will too.

Did you park close to the PI or in one of the mid/long term car-parks?. I think they open / close differently lettered areas on certain days & times which could narrow down your search.

Phone thing isn’t going to work if it’s not set up. My phone doesn’t tell me where my car is parked (and it is linked via Bluetooth)

You’ve got a lot on your shoulders op and I’m sure you’re doing a fabulous job. Don’t take it to heart, just one little blip. As a pp said the car park may be able to tell you the entrance you came in which may help.

So stansted is all one level which makes it harder to see lights
But the place is covered in cctv and take your Reg in and out.
If you go to customer services or security I'm sure they can locate the car for you.
It's so pants that this has happened on the way home from holiday.
You poor thing.

We've done this twice.

Once at the airport. After looking round a while dh flagged down one of the buses who drive him round the car park til he saw it. We knew we weren't far from one of the the bus stops.

Other time was at WDW in their massive car park. Couldn't even remember which part of the car park we were in. Again we had to get assistance - luckily we knew what time we had arrived and they could work it out that way!

You won’t be the first or the last to have done this, OP.

As a single parent, I completely understand the “having to do everything” stress.

Sympathies OP. We don't use this type of parking any more due to too many middle of the night trawls around carparks unable to find the car.

We either use on airport Meet and Greet, or one of those companies that takes you on a bus to the airport and they park your car in their car park, but bring it to the front of their office when you return.

If you shop around, using Holiday Extras or Moneysavingexpert etc, you can usually get it for a similar price as the airport long stay.

We don't have the added complication of having to keep an eye on DCs at the same time, but are an allegedly fully functioning childfree couple of adults.

They have machines where you can search out your car.. you just put reg in and it will tell you where it is

The screengrab you posted of maps says “parked car”... but it also says 40 yards away, so is that the car you’re driving on holiday? Is there anything else if you scroll down?

I hope you find it. I am carrying huge stress at the moment and keep forgetting things and always give myself a hard time but never give myself credit for all the things I do actually do. Be kind to yourself x

Oh and you’re not an idiot - or at least you are in good company. I managed to drive the wrong way round the M25 when I arrived at Gatwick Dog-tired with small DC in distressing circumstances.

If it helps I booked car parking and a bed and breakfast near to Heathrow. We were flying from Gatwick!

Thanks everyone. It’s super hard to get through to an actual human at Stansted. bbcessex is bailing me out and having a drive round when she’s at Stansted on Weds. so grateful 💐💐💐

I once changed the dates of my return from holiday at Stansted but forgot to change the dates of the meet & greet. For some reason I thought that because both plane and car were with Stansted it would link up.

The result was us standing around at 11pm for about an hour while they got our car out of the grid system. We could have found our car in the car park quicker! I absolutely ruined the point of booking meet & greet Angry
