Is there any point keeping a pair of utterly gorgeous shoes you can't possibly ever wear?

Yeah me & the Anthropologie sale a few years back Hmm I bought these incredibly cute black velvet car-to-bar shoes - walking in them is just not possible, though somehow that didn't enter my mind at the time... Having a clear out, keep or chuck?

I’m jealous if you wheelchair users who can wear your heels with pride!! I’ve got a stupid ugly afo so could only wear one shoe - not exactly the look I’m going for 😂

Keep them OP!! Grin

I have a pair of these! They are fabulous black, sparkly, Guess platform hooker shoes that I can try on and wear for a couple of minutes. I have successfully Marie Kondoed many precious things but I refuse to part with them.

tabulahrasa · 20/08/2018 22:49

I have loads of pairs of shoes I rarely or never wear... but I love them, so I keep them.

I don’t see why shoes can’t be ornamental.

I will wear mine but only on photo shoots!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 20/08/2018 23:06

I have a pair of ruby red Jimmy Choos that I can't even get my feet into any more stupid children wrecked every bloody part of me. I took them out to look at again today. They are so pretty. I think I'm going to keep them for if dd wants them. Beauty aside though, I've completely given up on heels, my highest ones are about an inch and they are only for when I know I won't have to walk much.

LongSummerDays · 20/08/2018 23:21

I have 36 pairs of shoes I don't wear.

Too nice, too high, too beautiful...

My38274thNameChange · 20/08/2018 23:27

I keep these types of shoes. I refer to them as my taxi shoes. Ones that I can’t walk in but I can cope as long as I’m in a taxi door to door.

My collection includes diamanté stilettos that make my feet actually bleed if i attempt movement in them Grin

JaretsGirlfren · 20/08/2018 23:37

Sometimes I wear mine to hoover and pretend I’m Freddie Mercury Blush

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 20/08/2018 23:54

JaretsGirlfren, you've just reminded me of when I was 19 and bought a ball gown for no reason other than it was beautiful and half price! My uni flatmate used to come home to me prancing around making dinner in a silver puff ball Blush

GiraffeObsessedBaby · 21/08/2018 00:08

I cleared out over 30 pairs of shoes that I hadn't worn in years. I kept 8 of them that I still can't wear but they're beautiful. Including my beautiful babies that I wore on my wedding day 😍

Keep them Boron! Doesn't the queen of decluttering Marie Kongo day something about keeping stuff if it brings you joy? They make you happy when you look at them so keep the shoes!

Olli They're bloody amazing. (Love your bee tatt)

I bought some stupidly expensive stupidly high shoes a few months ago whilst in a fuck it mood due to a bereavement. I can hardly walk in them but they look stunning on and give me loads of extra confidence. So long as I don't, y'know, attempt to move very far. Blush

I get the argument against them and I know they were a stupid purchase but I love them.

EnidButton · 21/08/2018 00:19

Phwoar Giraffe! 😍

EnidButton · 21/08/2018 00:21

"Kongo day" is Kondo say. Autocorrect isn't a decluttering fan.

AcrossthePond55 · 21/08/2018 00:48

I have a pair of Italian hand-made taupe suede sling back stilettos from the 80s. Gorgeous shoes but hell to walk in even back then. But Oh, did I look fab on the dance floor. Nowadays I'd probably fall in them and break my neck. But I can't let them go. Every time I clean out my closet I put them on and admire them, but then I try to walk in them. Nope. Back in the closet they go.

ExileOnMNStreet · 21/08/2018 09:16

@Hushabyelullaby I do wear my heels with the heel part over the back of the footplate normally otherwise it hurts my hips. If I can sit forward I can put them flat on the footplates but not all the time. (For full disclaimer I have a fluctuating disability so can transfer myself but not in heels, and limp with sticks the rest of the time, so like taking the opportunity to wear my shoes in the chair!)

Furx I do adore and wear Irregular Choice shoes! It sounds like the sort of conversation I would have, if it was disability not injury it well could have been me!

Verbena87 you sounded just like Samantha from Sex in the City there Grin I like you Grin and all the lovely shoes on this thread boron I love the bows, keep them! And Ollie yours are fab as you could also use them as a mirror to touch up your lipstick!

lucysmam · 21/08/2018 09:24

Giraffe they're so sparkly 😍😍I'd keep those too!

SugarandVinegar · 21/08/2018 09:32

Keep them and put them on display op - you could put them on a shelf or dressing table in those see through shoe boxes and sigh at their sheer beauty.

I have lovely lace, satin and frothy net 1950s style petticoats hanging
on the back of the bedroom door.
Just because it makes my heart smile to see them.

PrincessIsAUnicorn · 21/08/2018 09:43

I have RRMS and have symptoms in my left leg, so walking is hard at the best of times, haven't tried on these babies since the start of my symptoms, I miss them, only managed 30 mins top in them anyway, but they were the topic of conversations! I LOVE them 😍 no way could I get rid of them

Can we have more pics of people's most beautiful, fabulous shoes please?!

ZanyMobster · 21/08/2018 10:18

I have a problem with one of my feet and struggle in anything other than wedges now, I have some gorgeous Jimmy Choos which I can't get rid of just in case . . .

Springersrock · 21/08/2018 10:21

Keep them

I have a pair of heels that I love but just can’t walk in them

I fish them out every now and then and wear them while slumped on the sofa watching shite on the TV

tccat · 21/08/2018 10:24

These are mine, can't walk in them but keep them for "photographic" purposes Wink

Keep

StrangeLookingParasite · 21/08/2018 11:50

my beautiful babies that I wore on my wedding day

Oh, wow, Giraffe, you must have looked amaaazing! They're gorgeous.

GiraffeObsessedBaby · 21/08/2018 11:55

Haha thanks @StrangeLookingParasite unfortunately it was a ridiculously cold March morning in a hour long vintage bus ride with no heating combined with standing for two hours during ceremony and photos meant my feet were SCREWED. So as soon as photos were done they came off and spent the day being lovingly passed round my also shoe obsessed guests lol. I think they ended up being an informal centre piece in the lounge at one point 😂 luckily I don't have smelly feet!
