If you have a favourite tea, what is it?

This may not be the most exciting Mumsnet topic but I need your help please.

I need some inspiration. I'm looking to buy some new (to me) loose tea blends. I'm happy to order online. I haven't had a great new tea in a while. To make things really exciting, I might even order a new teapot.

If you have a favourite tea, please tell me what it is, and where you get it from?

Loose leaf Assam is my favourite. Strong and malty, a lovely brew. My second fave is Earl Grey.

DS invented a nice blend using tea bags. Throw into the pot two Assam, one Earl Grey & one Yorkshire Tea. Very nice indeed.

@girlandboy I love Rooibos! Clipper is my favorite.

Hate all those perfume-y teas like Earl Grey etc. Aldi own brand in the black box is great for Builder tea.

Sainsbury's TTD cocoa and coconut rooibos infusion or caramel rooibos infusion, Dragonfly rooibos earl grey and rooibos chai, Tic Toc rooibos earl grey or green rooibos. For plain rooibos tea The English Tea Company is the best I've found. (I drink them all with milk.)

Something hearty, like spaghetti B, cottage pie, shepherds pie, roast dinner. I also love steak pie and chips! Lovely for the colder evening

Oh, just noticed it's a thread about drinking tea Blush

Apologies, I should've read your post

Wolfray · 18/08/2018 18:14

Thank you all, I'm going to order a few this evening. Grin

Dorset Tea because I'm a Dorset girl

Camomile tea with a spoon of honey is a lovely one at night to help you sleep. Otherwise, I add my votes to the PPs who mentioned Darjeeling, Lapsang Souchong, and Orange Pekoe - all delicious!
The only one I really hate is Earl Grey. It tastes like dilute bleach to me - I think it’s the effect of the bergamot in it. The first time I had it, I thought my elderly aunt had been cleaning her teacups with Ajax and forgotten to rinse them - but it’s been just as vile any other place I’ve had it!

I recently came across this place while on holiday in Conwy and it's lovely.

Currently drinking green tea with jasmine and their Cherry and vanilla which is amazing.

BrynhildurWhitemane · 18/08/2018 18:57

I've tried so many. Inlike a green jasmine, which I currently have at work in a loose leaf variety. I really like lapsang Souchong but don't get it often, need some more.

I've just reached the end of a packet of loose leaf french lavender earl gray from a market stall, company called snail and rabbit.

I have found my small french press works well as an impromptu tea pot, so I have this at work where it does both jobs😁

I've tried another floral loose leaf tea, but can't remember the name of the company. I like florals, clearly.

My favourite black tea is T2 fair trade breakfast tea.

I get all my favourite teas from Bird & Blend! Their teas are amazing. A few of my favourite are
Gingerbread Chai
Peppermint Cream
Cherry Bakewell
Treacle Sponge
Chocolate Digestive
Christmas Cake

I usually drink Yorkshire tea, but I love pukka teas for herbal blends. Current favourite is Sainsbury's 'bedtime infusion' though, really effective for calming my anxiety and seems to help me get to sleep a bit faster.

StandardPoodle · 18/08/2018 19:33

Whittard's Earl Grey or Russian Caravan tea.
Smoked Earl Grey sounds interesting.

Smoky Frey from Fortnums. I absolutely love it.

Growingboys · 18/08/2018 19:56

Grey not Frey FFS

Growingboys · 18/08/2018 19:58

I thought I was the only person in the world who loved Smoky Grey. Amazing to see there are lots of us!

Good, I hope that means it won't be discontinued.

LakeFlyPie · 18/08/2018 20:00

Rooibos, love it

EyeDrops · 18/08/2018 20:01

China Rose Petal, really delicate flavour. I drink it with a little milk. I have it at Betty's (in the north!) as a treat but I'm sure they do online?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/08/2018 20:02

Earl Grey; any brand. Brewed for ages then lots of milk

I'm northern so came on to say Spaghetti Bolognese Wink

However if it's a cuppa it has to be Yorkshire Tea Grin
