If you were 40, using a coil, but 2 days late...

But your last period was a week early, would you suspect you were pregnant?

Have failed four tests but have history of failing tests when VERY pregnant...

Have felt tired dizzy and nauseous at various stages over last ten days Shock plus various other delightful symptoms have experienced before such as constipated, starving and ‘larger’ (come from a family where strangers can guess you’re pregnant from about 9 weeks in, look 9 months pregnant at 5 months etc).

No history of early menopause in family, indeed many healthy births in forties from grandmothers.

What do you think? Been using Superdrug tests, but about to spring for a clearblue fancy one for tomorrow morning. Or am I being mental????

Hmmm.

Sounds like you need to for peace of mind. Otherwise, you could wait and see? I suppose the urgency of knowing depends on the implications if you were indeed pregnant.

Incrediblepregable · 15/08/2018 14:12

Oh implications are initially OMFG ShockShockShock but then ‘my goodness what a surprising but happy blessing, babies come with loaves under their arms etc’

I’d give it another week. Then test.

I have a coil and was told if I even thought I might be pregnant I needed to phone right away and get a drs appointment as there is a good chance it could be ectopic. I'd make an appointment asap op.

Incrediblepregable · 15/08/2018 14:14

You are right but obviously I have a bad case of the MUST KNOW, MUST KNOWs

OP posts:
Incrediblepregable · 15/08/2018 14:14

Oh shit.

Mumof4under10 · 15/08/2018 14:17

As some one already said I would phone Drs. Was told when had coil fitted if suspected was pregnant to contact go straight away as high risk of ectopic pregnancy. Also don't know how long you have had coil fitted but I only had 1 period the month after and not had another for over a year.

Incrediblepregable · 15/08/2018 14:19

Okay am going to test like crazy tomorrow am and ring doctors. Am not in home town for ten days, had to use emergency medical appt for child today so they may be market about doling out another one.

Better stroppy doctor than ending up very ill in hospital with a ruptured tube. Hope all is ok op xx

Incrediblepregable · 17/08/2018 08:57

Okay bumping this up again as still no period but testing with super pricey early testing kits negative. Aargh!

Thanks to vg advice of pp have found an emergency walk in clinic in big London hospital for high risk pg including ectopic, so can see what they say. En route now!!!!

have you only just had the coil fitted? I might be being dim but I have had a mirena coil for the past 9 years and wouldn't have a clue if I was "late" since there's no discernable difference between different times of the month Confused

Incrediblepregable · 17/08/2018 09:01

Yeah but it’s not mirena or hormonal in any way.

OP posts:
Cutesbabasmummy · 17/08/2018 09:15

I have a mirena and just get spotting. My SIL has a copper one and gets heavy bleeds x

Incrediblepregable · 17/08/2018 09:30

Yeah, cutebaba, I’ve never missed a period on copper coil, they’re not the kind you could fail to notice haha! Really wish I could have a mirena, they sound brilliant. (Have had bad reaction to hormonal bc before)

40 ✔️
Coil ✔️
Pregnant ✔️

OutPinked · 17/08/2018 09:35

My DM’s periods went out of whack over 40, she was peri-menopausal. No history of early menopause in her family either and I don’t think 40 is particularly early to be peri-menopausal anyway so I wouldn’t rule that out.

Incrediblepregable · 17/08/2018 09:55

conker what, you’ve been all of these things?!! Tell me!

outpinked this is in my mind as well, quite possible though bit depressing.

OP posts:
ConkerTriumphant · 17/08/2018 10:18

Incredible
Yes, all of those things.
What a shock! Apparently the coil can sometimes be pulled out by a tampon (no one ever told me that!) and I got pregnant at 39, very unexpectedly.

Sadly I had to terminate due to medical reasons and it was all quite traumatic.

I hope things turn out well for you!

Incrediblepregable · 17/08/2018 10:35

Oh conker that sounds really hard, I’m so sorry.

Hmm urine test negative so early pregnancy centre can’t do blood test? Agreed with nurse that if I’d don’t have period by Monday go to gp.

OP posts:
ConkerTriumphant · 18/08/2018 17:28

It was a long time ago now, so not so raw, thank goodness.

Any sign yet..?

Incrediblepregable · 19/08/2018 01:07

No! Aarrgghh! Going to doctors on Monday morning.

OP posts:
Incrediblepregable · 20/08/2018 11:55

Couldn’t get to doctors but feeling incredibly pregnant still, period still awol, feeling very emotional and tearful, but just did a boots test in the loo and negative! Losing my mind!

I have a family member who is currently pregnant and has the coil. She didn't get positive tests for a while (no idea why and the gp didn't understand it either). They told her that her coil had moved somehow and that's how she's now 6 months pregnant Shock they didn't intent to have more babies so it's been a huge shock for them. The gp said she's the only woman she's ever delt with who got pregnant with the coil so I don't think it's all that common. Good luck op, hope you get the outcome you'd like

Incrediblepregable · 20/08/2018 12:26

Oh god starting if it’s true I’d love to be six months in, it’s the April due date and the year afterwards that it will take to get back to normal that freaks me out. AAARRRRGGGHHH sorry totally freaking out now, if I just knew either way that would be great!

OP posts:
Cutesbabasmummy · 20/08/2018 12:43

Your gp could do a blood test. They are more accurate than urine tests in early pregnancy.
