There was a fab thread on here last year with loads of tips but I can't find it.

17 year old DD is off there next week with ten mates. What does she need to take, what aren't you allowed to take.

@eaturveggies aww! Hope she has a great time Grin

Flying tins of beans and toasters?! Ouch Shock The flying piss is a hazard indeed!

YouBetterWORK · 23/08/2018 14:55

My first Reading was back when the average age was 20+ (And the line ups were far better...) a few years later it turned into a post gcse crowd of teens let loose from the leash, so got there just in time really!Grin

Anyways, I found taking some TravelJohn toilet bags were great, get a tent with a seperate 'room' to use them in. They basically turn the wee to gel, you can seal the bag too. During the day I'd use the arena area loos which were a bit more kept, but at night the TravelJohns meant I wasn't stumbling around in the dark late at night on my own to use some stinking pit with god knows what in it 🤢

Well she's having "the best time of my life mum, I mean EVER .... I'm living life" 😊

Do not pitch a tent in the vicinity of the toilet block 🤮

December2018 · 24/08/2018 12:27

Somebody threw a box of noodles that hit me at a festival once.... I just ate them 😂😂

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/08/2018 15:38

Piss throwing 😳

Oh god.. I'd totally forgotten about this, but one Reading I was hit by a flying jacket potato.

I was just happy it wasn't piss.

YouBetterWORK · 24/08/2018 16:31

Oh yes piss throwing. I was there for the great pissstorm of Daphne and Celeste! From a safe distance Grin

IWantMyHatBack · 24/08/2018 16:32

@YouBetterWORK

Me too! 😂😂

I felt quite sorry for them, hiding right at the back of the stage

NotTheWayISeeIt · 24/08/2018 20:52

Wow it's been raining hard. It's going to be a soggy night

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 24/08/2018 22:55

Uh oh! I think more heavy rain is due on Sunday. Perhaps it will dry out either side?!

I wish I had an exciting projectile story to share Grin

Glad @BigSandyBalls2015 's DD is having a marvellous time!

MrsJamin · 24/08/2018 23:08

If any of you know teens at Reading, ask them to go and see the lovely people at the Reading Street pastors tent, they will get a big welcome and a friendly ear to anyone. All year round they help young people out at night in Reading and they just keep doing the same at the festival!

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 25/08/2018 00:49

Lying in my bedroom with the window open and listening to the bass thud from the festival and it made me think of this thread Smile

attentionspan · 26/08/2018 00:27

Had several texts from my dd saying she's having a good time and one of the Friday messages made me chuckle.

"Its pissing down lol"

I think it's the 'lol' at the end that does it Grin

IWantMyHatBack · 26/08/2018 00:28

I feel sorry for any at Reading this weekend. I hope they're all wearing their booze coats to keep warm.

attentionspan · 26/08/2018 00:37

I'm banking on the resilience of youth!

IWantMyHatBack · 26/08/2018 01:22

It'll be fine, I survived with the thinnest sleeping bag in the world.

MrsJamin · 26/08/2018 08:24

It's due to rain all today but they won't care, I bet.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 26/08/2018 09:33

DD sent a photo on the family WhatsApp trying to make a pot noodle using a saucepan on a disposable BBQ .... one of my nicer saucepans I noticed!

Ds2 is there. We live just outside reading and he surprised me by coming home to shower on Thursday and Friday.
He didn’t come home yesterday and today so far a no show as well

He did text yesterday though so I’m sure all
is well. It’s much colder than expected so I’m sure extra layers are being worn or brought! I bet primark has made a killing in cheap sweatshirt sales.

The one up wasn’t too bad this year. We took 12yr old dd to see post Malone on Friday and the atmosphere was great. She loved every minute of it. We weren’t allowed to meet ds2 though lol.

Hope your dd has a fab time.

attentionspan · 26/08/2018 10:43

Mine has apparently walked into town and bought a coat Grin

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 26/08/2018 11:57

Ds2 messaged me they are sat in someone’s tent hoping the rain dies down. The forecast says it stops at 5pm so hopefully it will for them.

Ds2’s tent has not coped with all today’s rain. Luckily one of his friends has a proper 8 man family heavy duty tent with him and they’ve camped in yellow zone so not too far to walk to the arena.

Hope everyone else’s dc are dry and safe and having fun

sluj · 26/08/2018 12:26

My DS has gone shopping in the town centre to get out of the rain for a while. Toby carvery for breakfast and Subway for lunch. He might be damp but he's not starving Grin

sluj · 26/08/2018 13:17

Oh dear, DS just rang to say they are thinking of coming home today as the rain is so bad 😕
