I know the Lakeland heated airer gets great reviews but wondered if there were any cheaper ones that were good enough?
Reluctant to pay that much for my student daughter as I'm not convinced she'll actually use it!

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for product recommendations, we’ve recently updated our guide to the best heated airers with lots of options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and editors. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Not sure about heated airers, but what about a standard one and dehumidifier? It'd come in handy in student houses and dries laundry much quicker!

Mumteedum · 13/08/2018 20:09

I got one from Aldi which has been good. Was about thirty five quid when I got it couple years ago. Def think dehumidifiers are great though. Drying clothes indoors as students is a pain but many halls will have laundrette s with driers won't they?

The John Lewis one is great and a bit more sturdy!

Lakeland ones are great. You can sometimes pick up 'used ones on Amazon that are unwanted returns or refurbished. They've got the smaller ones for £75. But as a student I just used radiators!!

I have a £30 ish amazon one. It's great, the best advice is to lie a dry sheet or towel on top to keep the hot air in. Might be rubbish advice but I believe in sheet magic!

My kids tell me the dryers in their halls would just give them warm wet washing instead of cold wet washing Sad

Just make sure she knows to open the windows a little when drying laundry (if not going the dehumidifier route) - also after showering. I've smelt some musty old student rooms: not healthy!

Ah brilliant suggestion re dehumidifier! I have one we don't use!
She was in student halls last year but is now in a private flat. It's quite a wee dark flat which doesn't seem to get the sun and she's reluctant to put the heating on as she'll have to pay for it!
Will try the dehumidifier route first and see how it goes.
Thanks all Smile

We had one for a while.

Then we discovered the brilliance of having a dehumidifier instead.

Never looked back (eBac 2650 - plug for a UK company with outstanding customer service).
