Is there any such thing as a short distance animal courier?

I am supposed to be picking up my pup on the 26th. It's an hour and half drive.

I was supposed to get a lift but person has decided it's too far and they are still nervous about driving on motorway, completely fine.

We calculated the trip, round, and petrol would have been £30 I agreed on £50.

Now that she can't take me I was looking at trains. It will cost me about £50 on train but it's the traveling I'm worried about.
There's a train change and then there will be a bus journey.
I'm worried it will be an awful trip for her.

Then I looked at taxis. £165 one way . Ouchhh no way

So, is there a service that picks up pups and delivers them? Or any other ideas.
Feeling a little stressed

Train x 2 then a bus is obviously not ideal for a puppy who probably isn’t toilet trained, but it can be done. Can you just do the trains, take puppy pads and some towels and get an Uber rather than a bus at the end?

ASpringerEspanya · 12/08/2018 12:56

Most uber/taxi don't allow dogs though?

A friend suggested asking on fb but I'm paranoid that they will steal my puppy :(

My neighbour runs that sort of service, along with dog walking, talking to the vets etc They have their own vans

confusedandemployed · 12/08/2018 12:58

Some of the dog walkers around here also advertise as pet taxis. No idea if it'll be cheaper than a normal cab but it's worth a try.

tectonicplates · 12/08/2018 12:58

Could you try phoning the kennels and asking for advice? These things probably happen all the time so they might have some recommendations.

Aprilshowersinaugust · 12/08/2018 12:58

Surely you need to see the puppy in the correct circumstances before collecting?
Confused

UpstartCrow · 12/08/2018 12:59

Ask the breeder.

tectonicplates · 12/08/2018 13:01

Hold on OP, have I misunderstood? I just assumed you were already the owner and had left the dog at some kennels while you went on holiday or something. Are you actually collecting a brand new pet from a breeder?

SisterNotCisTerf · 12/08/2018 13:03

Would the breeder be willing to do it for the £50?

Have you seen the dog?

Birdsgottafly · 12/08/2018 13:04

As said, there are Pet taxis.

But, I bought a Puppy, totally unplained whilst on holiday, two and a half hours away.

The Pup slept for most of the way, I just gave her a run around half way. You'd have to take lots of puppy pads/cleaning wipes etc and I'd take nappy bags, to contain the smell.

ASpringerEspanya · 12/08/2018 13:05

I've met the dog.

I did the train journey.

I just don't want to do the train journey with her because it's 2 journeys and takes forever.

ASpringerEspanya · 12/08/2018 13:06

I told the breeder I'm looking but she runs kennels, doggy day care, boarding etc... so I don't think she would have time for a 3 hour journey.

OP posts:
UpstartCrow · 12/08/2018 13:07

No, but breeders have doggy friends, and she might know someone who will do it.

Reaa · 12/08/2018 13:08

How small is the puppy? Use a pet carry create with puppy pads and a towel.

Puppy may need a bath on return but I think it's your best option.

A0001 · 12/08/2018 13:09

Used these guys a while ago

http://www.pettovet.co.uk/

Absolutely brilliant, cover the whole of the uk and reasonably priced.

ASpringerEspanya · 12/08/2018 13:27

Just been quoted £140. That's almost as much as puppy.

Oh dear.

Looks like we might be on the train.

Where in the country are you op? I'd be happy to help if I can?

tectonicplates · 12/08/2018 13:43

Right, so you want to commit yourself to having a pet, which includes the financial commitment of paying for it all, yet you don't want to pay for a taxi? Hmm What a strange mentality.

ASpringerEspanya · 12/08/2018 14:08

A £140 taxi.

Don't act like I am a crap person. I had transport arranged. I had it all sorted before I committed to getting this pup.
I had it all budgeted in.
Just because I can't pull £110 out of my arse on top of all the other cost of starting up with a dog (cost, injections, toys, bed etc) doesn't mean I am a crap dog owner

She will have full insurance and everything she needs

I just am a bit flummoxed now about transporting her. I'm trying to figure out the least stressful way of doing so for her whilst being mindful of the cost.

Just because I'm not a Kardashian and can't have her flown here in a private jet doesn't mean I'm not a good dog owner.

supercalifragilistic2 · 12/08/2018 14:15

What about asking on Facebook if anyone local will give you a lift for £x you would obviously travel with them. You may find someone wants to make some easy cash?

Not sure a train would be a great plan, especially for a new pup.

ASpringerEspanya · 12/08/2018 14:19

Oh that's a good idea Cali.
as long as I don't get murdered

Moonflower12 · 12/08/2018 14:21

There should be students about at the moment who would probably happily do it for £50. With you in the car.

Where about sin the country is the pup?

ASpringerEspanya · 12/08/2018 14:30

Doncaster.
I might put an ad on local page. See what turns up. No obligation to take anyone up on anything.
