Dd told to urinate on seat on coach

Not sure if it's worth speaking to the school or not, but a few parents have said they would be fuming and I should do. Last week dds class went on school trip by coach. On the way back the coach took longer than anticipated due to traffic etc and there were no toilets on the coach. My dd wees a lot due to a few issues she has - anyway she was desperate for a wee the coach driver offered to pull over at next service and a dinner lady who was volunteering refused and said no she can wet herself and wee onto some kitchen towel. So my dd had to wee onto the seat and then spend the rest of the journey sat there on a wet seat. I only found out today what had happened as another volunteer has told me. Wwyd anything or nothing? I feel it's a bit grim to make a child wee on a seat and she feels pretty humiliated about the whole thing.

if it was a long trip involving motorway driving they should have had a loo on board, i thought most did these days
our reception class went on a trip a couple of weeks ago and our coach did

Greenglassteacup · 09/07/2018 18:26

Outrageous

obviouslymarvellous · 09/07/2018 18:27

Again want to assure you all not a troll or goading post. Wow about the newspaper that makes my story seem pale in comparison. Dd has just told me that they used a full roll of paper for her as it was a big wee Angry I was only asking as I appreciate it's difficult with a coach full of children and other than stopping what really is an alternative

Simonitsnotme - that's exactly what I would have thought. It was on the motorway and yes I thought a school would have the foresight to book a coach with toilets

Are you sure it wasn't more a case of putting the kitchen roll down in case she did actually wet herself before they got back rather than directly telling her to wee into that?

obviouslymarvellous · 09/07/2018 18:40

My dd was asking a lot to go to the toilet - that's why the coach driver offered to stop. I suppose it may have been preventative (will have to check with volunteers again) however they have brought it to my attention as thought it wasn't ideal what happened so I'm not sure what to think

I wouldn't hesitate to speak to the school about this if it was my child. Who cares about making a fuss, that's a very undignified way to treat a child.

NellMangel · 09/07/2018 19:07

Your poor daughter. I imagine you are going to complain now. Do people have no empathy, how would they like to sit in their own wee surrounded by peers. Ignorant wankers.

obviouslymarvellous · 09/07/2018 19:22

Yes I will be complaining in the morning for sure. I can't actually believe this was allowed to happen and am so confused and upset for my dd. What if a teacher or someone needed the toilet? Should I send a roll of kitchen towel in for them Angry

ohfourfoxache · 09/07/2018 23:32

cooookies · 10/07/2018 11:12

Good luck Thanks

obviouslymarvellous · 10/07/2018 13:07

Ok so head has rang me and is absolutely fuming at what has happened. She has opened an investigation into it (as was totally unaware) all staff involved have had a bollocking and she is getting written reports on what has happened to show me. She has stated it should never have happened and when they came back from the trip he teacher should have spoken to my dh immediately to explain (even though it wasn't good enough what happened) so at least the school have admitted fault and hopefully this shouldn't happen again on any future trips in any class.

I'm glad they appear to be taking it seriously.

LML83 · 10/07/2018 14:27

Good response from head. Glad they agree it's unacceptable.

steppemum · 10/07/2018 15:00

Glad the head is taking it seriously.

I would imagine the coach driver was pretty furious (if he realised)

Can you imagine getting that coach the next day!!

obviouslymarvellous · 10/07/2018 15:21

Yes I am pleased too the head is taking it seriously. She was really appalled at what had happened and said that a full investigation was taking place. I think if my dh or I had been told on Friday what had happened either in person or a phonecall, I still wouldn't have been pleased but al least informed rather than hearsay.

CookiesandQueen · 10/07/2018 16:41

I would be contacting the school and requesting a meeting with the head teacher. This is awful, total humiliation. It's unacceptable. Sorry your DD had to go through that.

Caribbeanyesplease · 10/07/2018 16:49

I’m flabbergasted tbe coach driver allowed this on his coach.

Could you ring the coach company first to find out his version of events?
