Dd told to urinate on seat on coach

Not sure if it's worth speaking to the school or not, but a few parents have said they would be fuming and I should do. Last week dds class went on school trip by coach. On the way back the coach took longer than anticipated due to traffic etc and there were no toilets on the coach. My dd wees a lot due to a few issues she has - anyway she was desperate for a wee the coach driver offered to pull over at next service and a dinner lady who was volunteering refused and said no she can wet herself and wee onto some kitchen towel. So my dd had to wee onto the seat and then spend the rest of the journey sat there on a wet seat. I only found out today what had happened as another volunteer has told me. Wwyd anything or nothing? I feel it's a bit grim to make a child wee on a seat and she feels pretty humiliated about the whole thing.

Then you should absolutely make a fuss. This is outrageous. I'm sorry I didn't believe you.

obviouslymarvellous · 09/07/2018 17:38

Another volunteer has said that the coach driver wanted to stop but because they were late enough back as it was the teachers said no and they put lots of kitchen roll down for her to wee into. I will go in and speak to the head in the morning thanks

If that’s true that’s disgusting and I’d have no hesitation speaking to the School.

obviouslymarvellous · 09/07/2018 17:41

I promise I am not a troll I've been around a long while! I just didn't know anything other than an accident until like I said I was approached. I am very Confused that the coach driver just listened to the teachers and didn't pull up at services regardless.

HeGotManFlu · 09/07/2018 17:42

Bloody outrageous, it wouldn't be so bad if theyd have used a box or empty cup or something but to pee in front of everyone and then sit in it, disgraceful. I would speak to the coach company too.

Knitjob · 09/07/2018 17:45

I would speak to the school. That is not ok.
And I believe your version of events, I too would just have written it off as an accident if thats what my chimd had said and not asked any more. It would never enter my mind to say at that point 'now is that really what happened or did someone tell you to wet yourself?'

olderthanyouthink · 09/07/2018 17:46

If I was the coach driver I'd have just stopped in the services.

How rude of the dinner lady(?) to say that DD should just pee on the seat, she wouldn't like to have to clean it up so what should someone else have to when it could have been avoided!

Chuckle2 · 09/07/2018 17:48

Sorry OP but if your post was legit, you'd surely be absolutely furious and you wouldn't be in two minds about complaining

CoatsDoRoam · 09/07/2018 17:49

This would be the talk of the trip if my children had been there. How did anyone expect this to be acceptable? Confused

obviouslymarvellous · 09/07/2018 17:49

Thanks knitjob I assure you all it never occurred to me to think what's going on here then and I wouldn't have given it a second thought until I was approached. I don't know which coach company school use and all I have is volunteer hearsay but they would have no reason to make anything up. One volunteer has said the teacher actually said "oh yes X wees a lot but we can't stop yes give her the kitchen towel" Angry they had a large sick bucket on board too that would have been slightly better surely?

OP posts:
obviouslymarvellous · 09/07/2018 17:51

I am furious now - I have only found out the last couple hours and have been waiting for confirmation of events before I let my large mouth run away with me. Which it usually does

OP posts:
mrssmooth · 09/07/2018 17:51

Cannot believe that a coach driver would be happy for this to happen - will the school be getting the cleaning bill for this? Also, why on earth would the volunteers be carrying enough kitchen roll around on a school trip (enough for children to wee on?) A child vomiting on a seat is a different story, but actually being told to wee on a seat? Hmmmmm.

This is so shocking that no-one believes it is true, OP. You should definitely complain. The coach driver would be a witness if needed. Obviously in an emergency where they absolutely couldnt stop there might be an exception made but if the driver thought it was possible to stop then its very bad they didnt.

obviouslymarvellous · 09/07/2018 17:58

I've had a lot of issues with school over my other dd as you can see if you read my other posts. Didn't want to go in as I usually do all guns blazing like I usually do, until I had gathered all facts and was asking wwyd. Would you let it ride or complain. No hidden agenda or anything else

OP posts:
SimonBridges · 09/07/2018 17:59

My only thought is that if your DD wets a lot then perhaps they thought it might just be a little bit and a paper towel might do the job.

obviouslymarvellous · 09/07/2018 18:01

Thanks I'm glad I'm getting some responses that aren't calling me a troll. I can't believe some of you think I would make something like this up Confused why? I will be going in first thing in morning and seeing if they do apologise and try to fix things. I have a very rocky relationship with school as it is and was trying to keep a calm head and gather facts

OP posts:
HeGotManFlu · 09/07/2018 18:04

People think it could be a troll because there are frequent threads about how schools deal with kids needing the toilet, periods, poo, wee, sex. The trolls and banned posters spoil it for everyone.

LornaMumsnet · 09/07/2018 18:05

Just jumping on to say that we can never vouch for anyone, but we'll be giving the benefit of the doubt here - as far as we can see, the OP isn't on any sort of trolling expedition.

PrincessoftheSea · 09/07/2018 18:07

ShockingShock

Greenglassteacup · 09/07/2018 18:11

How degrading for tour daughter OP. I would be fuming. You need to address this with the school because if it completely unacceptable

Rachie1986 · 09/07/2018 18:14

That's horrible :-(. Definitely speak to the school

Cakedoesntjudge · 09/07/2018 18:16

I volunteered for a school trip where they made a girl do this on a coach but on newspaper. When they got there they made her take off her leggings and knickers which they deemed as fine because she was wearing a slightly longer top. They rinsed the clothes and hung them to dry on a windbreaker all day so if me and another volunteer hadn't told her mum she wouldn't have known.

Another mum who was petite ended up donating her coat so that she was properly covered. I was really shocked and felt really sorry for her.

I would definitely speak to the school. It's humiliating for the child if nothing else!

Greenglassteacup · 09/07/2018 18:25

God I can’t believe that this is something that happens on school trips, it’s disgusting
