Funeral or dd 12 week vaccinations?

Lookinatu · 10/11/2016 19:05

My dh has just told me it's his nans funeral next week the same day as our dd vaccinations. The vaccinations are only once a week and the funeral will be a all day event so I can't do both on the same day. Would you cancel the vaccinations to go to the funeral or not go to the funeral (dh can go of course).

I'd do the vaccinations at 13 weeks

lightsandresistance · 10/11/2016 19:06

Just do the vaccinations at the next available appointment.

Sirzy · 10/11/2016 19:07

Wait a week longer for the vaccinations

AllTheBabies · 10/11/2016 19:08

Funeral. No question. The vaccinations will be fine a week late.

GrinchyMcGrincherson · 10/11/2016 19:09

I would rearrange the jabs. It won't matter being a week out

JellyWitch · 10/11/2016 19:09

Funeral - wouldn't even debate it.

gamerwidow · 10/11/2016 19:17

Funeral I wouldn't think twice about it. Jabs will be fine one week late.

buttercup54321 · 10/11/2016 19:22

what a silly question. funeral of course. 1 week wait for jabs will not matter. if your kid was ill you would have to delay them anyway.

Chickpearocker · 10/11/2016 19:25

Doesn't have to be at exactly 12 weeks, I wasn't given an appointment until 13 weeks so had no choice.

Lookinatu · 10/11/2016 19:27

Wow I think I am so out of sync with human emotion I didn't question it and just said I don't think I can go.

100% Funeral.

BackforGood · 10/11/2016 19:32

Am stunned you are even asking this. When I saw the title, I thought it might be the funeral of someone you vaguely know.
There's no question. Go to your Nan-in-law's funeral of course.

AniceMNetter · 10/11/2016 19:38

Funeral, I assume this is your first baby hence feeling out of sync with things.. happens!

Fitzsimmons · 10/11/2016 19:41

If it helps to reassure you, my DD had her vaccines at 8, 13 and 18 weeks because of a lack of resources at my local surgery. They said it was fine as long as there were 4 weeks between doses

AlmaMartyr · 10/11/2016 19:42

Funeral. The vaccinations can wait a week.

CPtart · 10/11/2016 19:56

Practice nurse here- funeral without a doubt.

AmeliaJack · 10/11/2016 19:58

Funeral without question.

Call the surgery and explain your reason for cancelling. They may bump you to next week or they may fit you in another time.

Lookinatu · 11/11/2016 09:14

Called the surgery they don't have another appointment for 5 weeks. Dh has asked me to take her and he will go down with his brother.

OP posts:
JellyWitch · 11/11/2016 09:18

Is there a reason you can't delay for 5 weeks?

As I understand it, vaccinations are packed in tight partly so that patents get them done whilst they are still a captive audience. A bit of delay isn't the end of the world.

petalsandstars · 11/11/2016 09:18

Can you get referred to another drs surgery nearby instead? I've had that done before for jabs.

CotswoldStrife · 11/11/2016 09:23

If your DD had been ill, they would have delayed the vaccinations so I'd say the funeral too. If you are really that worried about a possible 5 week delay, can you check with your HV who may be able to put your mind at rest?

Lookinatu · 11/11/2016 09:25

Tbh I don't know much about the vaccinations time frames and I didn't know I could go to another doctors for it. Dh is pushing me to take dd for her vaccinations and not go. I will do some calls today but I am leaving the final decision to him as I don't want any back lash.

Vaccinations delayed for a month - unless your travelling somewhere exotic in the next few months which need all the vaccinations completing.
Go to the funeral.

Slothlikesundays · 11/11/2016 10:04

Had exactly the same problem with Dad's first. Went to the funeral and postponed jabs. Funerals are a once only event.

JellyBelli · 11/11/2016 12:09

Can a friend take you DB for her vaccines? Can you go to the funeral late? Can you pay for the vaccines to be done privately the next day?
If not, do them the next week.
