Well I'm finally a true MNetter. I have a parking thread.

Well I literally passed my test days ago. so here's the thing. my house has off road parking at the back of the property there's supposed to be room for 4 cars but barely. and everyone's used to parking in three spaces as ice never needed it before.

now I parked in my space today much to the annoyance of a neighbour who is adamant it's her space. but it's not. everyone just needs to shove over as I now need to park there and it's my allocated space on the deeds of the house.

There is visitor parking the other side but that side is not as good a position security wise as the green means it's higher risk for foot balls hitting it and impulse vandalism etc.

so do I piss of the neighbour and claim.my space or take my chances

Not because I. want to use the space. It was in response to me saying how no one's checked or asked me before "spreading" out over the spaces. I also said (jokingly) I was tempted to spray my space pink just so they can see it's mine. (it was a lighthearted discussion he wasn't being mean or anything)

Ha, Dragon, calm down. There's a particular BBT episode where Sheldon and Howard have a squabble about a parking space.

Still a crap joke though because situation here is completely different.

OP I'd copy the plan and write a letter including it to all 3 of your neighbours, asking to park more considerately. If need be get lines painted - perhaps asking landlords if they'd do this.

YonicScrewdriver · 17/05/2015 09:32

That's a good idea OneDay.

If they ask in future I'd show them the photo, say you will be parking in your space and ask them what their suggested solutions are. If their cars are too big perhaps they need to downsize. then :)

Get copy of deeds and show her. If you're going to paint parking lines only do it on your part. If you paint on someone else's property that could be used as vandalism.

If you can get everybody on board and get the lines painted maybe you could all agree to park in a certain way to make getting out of your cars easier. When I was with my exh we had a double garage so one of us would drive in and the other would reverse in (me!) right against the sides of the garage. That way both our drivers' doors open into the gap in the middle giving us more room to get out.
