PA has said before that he will never reveal the reason for the split until the children are old enough for him to explain it to them.

He will never explain because he has no reason other than he wanted to, which is fair enough.
The big reason mystery is a Carby Claire Creation to keep us interested in him and to preserve his nice guy/greatest dad who rilly rilly loves his kids image.
