A place for Cumberbatch fans to band together whilst waiting for DorkyBatch to return.

Hello everybody! Just checking in. I've not looked at mumsnet in months to be Honest after the cyber thing.

Anyway, enjoyed hamlet. Took my mum. There was something missing. The set was the star. He was fantastic.
I did have txts for closing night but sold them.

Cumberlover76 · 23/11/2015 15:58

Hi HRH, it's been quiet without you here. Not much been happening on the thread. Have you seen the calls to boycott Zoolander 2? Seems a bit OTT to me!

Things seem quiet on the batch front. Hope he's enjoying fatherhood, baby will be 6 months soon.

Cumberlover76 · 23/11/2015 16:00

Can anyone translate this for me from the article? "By hiring a cis actor to play a non-binary individual"????

wtf is cis and non-binary individual?

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 24/11/2015 09:22

Cumberlover, this is one of the few times you can use Urban Dictionary and not want to vomit after:

"cis:
Short for "cisgender" (opposite of "transgender"), used to describe someone whose gender identity matches their anatomical gender at birth.

Occasionally used derogatorily."

They also have a definition for "non-binary": "Nonbinary refers to any gender that is not exclusively male or female. A similar term is genderqueer."

FWIW, I think they're being a little oversensitive, they should get just as upset over the misogny in cinema, the fatshaming, etc. I think it should be blindingly obvious that pretty much any Ben Stiller/Owen Wilson film (and I use that term loosely) is not going to be an excursion into good taste and high-brow entertainment. Lord knows BC has done enough of that to last a lifetime, I'm sure he jumped at the chance to just goof around. If I want a sensitive look at the topic, then I will watch Eddie Redmayne in "The Danish Girl".

He's on Graham Norton tonight with Johnny Depp, James MacAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe, if they swapped Daniel Radcliffe with Kit Harington that would be my dream foursome! I told DH and he asked if I'd be wearing any clothes whilst watching Grin Wink!!

Cumberlover76 · 27/11/2015 17:46

DH is out tonight so maybe I will indulge in some naked tv!

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 27/12/2015 17:16

Happy Christmas to everyone who's still here. I just finished listening to "Zurich", and now I've got something in my eye. :(

Happy Christmas to you too Needs, everyone ready for Sherlock on Friday? Should be good :)

Any Sherlock thoughts? I loved it but need to watch again. It's always been one of my favourite roles of his. Sherlock would so get it! Prefer modern to old x

Cumberlover76 · 05/02/2016 18:07

Miss you all Sad. Has the Batch lost his shine or is everyone busy with RL? Prompted to post on here after reading this thread. Not much going on in Batchland but might re-watch the latest Sherlock tonight as DH is out.

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 22/02/2016 18:14

Missing everyone too. I'm wondering if people have gotten bored or resigned to the marriage (or organising a betting pool for when they split?).

I was a little meh to the new Sherlock -- excited for just seeing new stuff, but I felt like they were shoe-horning in just about every female who had ever been on the show. Seemed a little far-fetched to me. DH being grumpy on the sofa for being made to watch did not help matters.

I've been keeping busy by watching old Monty Python. You know what sucks about being a fan of old movies and programmes? Getting crushes on men who are either already long dead or are as old as your own father. Pooh.

Still love the Batch Grin. (It's me, Holmessweetholmes with a name change). I must, however, guiltily confess to being a little distracted at present by Tom Hiddleston in The Night Manager .

RiverTam · 23/02/2016 15:13

My full-on Batch obsession lasted about 9 months when he was knocked off the top spot by Lee Pace who has been there ever since (coming up to 18 months now). A few reasons - I actually found a lot of the negativity and, tbh, bitchiness about Sophie, a bit much; Benedict is so ubiquitous and almost seemed to get to the point of turning up to the opening of an envelope; but also because in fact I don't like all that much he's in, whereas I love loads of Lee's stuff.

So I'm dipping in and out of this fandom. Always excited to hear what projects he has coming up, but really don't need to see a squillion pics of him at whatever social occasions he's at today. Or tomorrow, or the next day!

Cumberlover76 · 25/02/2016 13:58

nice to hear from some people. I noticed Tom Hiddleston in the Night Manager, DH was watching it the other night but I haven't yet, will give it a go.

I have been getting into a bit of Poldark after enjoying Aiden Turner's torso in And Then There Were None (little pic in case you fancy a look). I am also very excited about the return of one of my other faves (although feel a little cradle snatchery as he's the same age as my baby bro and 10 years younger than me) the gorgeous Kit Harington as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones. Oh and also thoroughly enjoyed James Norton as Prince Andrei in War and Peace. So a few bits of eye candy out there - go on then i know you want to see them all Wink

Maybe we should become "previously known as the BCAS, now incorporating a number of other hot men to drool over!"

Cumberlover76 · 25/02/2016 14:01

oh I've always had a bit of a thing for Michael Palin Needs who is older than my dad!

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 25/02/2016 22:35

I'm 43, my mum will be 74 in April. I'm likening my new obsession with appreciation of Palin to Harrison Ford, who was also born in 1942 (I think) like my mother. Ford is hunky-hot, whereas Palin just makes me laugh. Looks can go (though they both seem to have exceptional genes), but being able to make me laugh would trump physical beauty in my book. I'm finding it epically unfair that there are no scenes with him like the ones of BC in this video:

m.youtube.com/watch?sts=16856&utcoffset=60&v=xxJXHY92Ju4&has_verified=1&client=mv-google&layout=mobile

Maybe we should start a MPAS? There was one in another forum, but the last post was in 2008!! I was lucky enough to have a steamy dream with a ca. 2000 version of MP the other night. It sure put the last one I had with BC to shame...Damn good shag, indeed!

I'm expecting the ladies to go a bit nuts for hiddes as they have done for benedict.

Old Sherlock didn't motivate me as much as curly batch does, I am shallow.

Cumberlover76 · 29/02/2016 07:44

I definitely prefer curly batch. I really liked Hamlet batch. Not so sure about Tom Hiddleston, he's nice looking but doesn't have the Batch edge somehow. Nice voice though, but no jaguar in a cello!

mercifulTehlu · 29/02/2016 17:16

Definitely going nuts for Hiddleston here! It's not as crazy as my full-on BC crush was in the early days, but has certainly got me distracted! You're right about the voice though, Cumberlover - nothing beats BC's growl, especially on that ludicrously and incongruously erotic Jaguar ad on YouTube. But Hiddles has got that cool-eyed public schoolboy charm with a hidden edge... The suits last week were yum, but the motorbiking bad boy this week was pretty damn hot too.
I can't quite get the Aidan Turner thing for some reason. He's very nice looking and all that, but... nope, doesn't do it for me.

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 04/03/2016 10:29

Full on benedict obsession going on. Husband getting a bit suspicious as to why I always suggest watching sherlock on "date night"...
