'Normal' things that you find really creepy

When I look out of my window at the flat opposite I can see straight through their living room to a window which lets light in from their garden. When it's sunset I find this image really unsettling and eery.

I also get really creeped out by those pin and string pictures that were popular in the 70's:

What odd things spook you?

Feet
Cupboard doors being left slightly open
Waking up at 3am ( cause that's when the demons come out obviously)

Lucymill · 22/10/2014 21:25

Smugness :)

Mrsjayy · 22/10/2014 21:26

Belly button piercing s give me the heave my younger sister changed her bar once in front of me genuinely felt sick

WitchesBrewniperTisane · 22/10/2014 21:28

Odd grains of rice left in the pan after everyone is served.

cakepopbakeshop · 22/10/2014 21:33

One magpie seemingly following me.

Shadowracer · 22/10/2014 21:34

Veins in cuts of meat...enough to make me go vegi, and i can never ever order a sunday lunch at a pub coz f*ck me i get the vein and the gravy gets squidged out just eurgh!

Mintyy · 22/10/2014 21:35

Smugness. Another unusual one.

BadRoly · 22/10/2014 21:35

I survived picking up the dc Blush

ginny I have nodded in agreement with everything you've said until the bedroom door.

Which as everyone knows must be shut at night along with wardrobe doors and drawers. Obviously.

PoirotsMalevolentMoustache · 22/10/2014 21:37

Anything to do with eyes
Long nails on men
Slow music playing first thing in the morning or at twilight
Earthworms
Big open pores (I can only just cope with my own)

Lotsofchocolate · 22/10/2014 21:39

The drains at the deep end of swimming pools! My dad used to tell me that sharks lived in there..

Also: suede (I hate the feel of it) and people walking behind you on staircases. I hated playing tag when I was younger - couldn't (and still can't) stand the feeling of people chasing you?? Confused

imip · 22/10/2014 21:42

Yy to a number listed here.

But also the sound of people chewing, especially dh, makes my tummy churn!

The wardrobe doors being ajar in a bedroom, especially at night - that one always freaks me out. I think after leaving a light on in the hall for dcs, I will never be able to sleep in the dark.

LiviaDruscillaAugusta · 22/10/2014 21:45

People touching me

Sticking head out of upstairs window and looking upwards

Hearing my own heartbeat when I am lying in bed

Fur (especially fake fur on clothing) - has been know to make me vom - I have cats but they are short haired so I can handle that.

Vixinafix · 22/10/2014 21:46

Agree with the eating sounds, feet being covered up too. Also agree with smugness lol as I find the face smug people pull when they're being smug really creepy!

Shadowracer · 22/10/2014 21:47

Driving down country lanes late at night with trees either side of the road

LaQueenIsKickingThroughLeaves · 22/10/2014 21:51

Anything that is just slightly larger than its normal, natural size...not giant versions, that's fine. But stuff just a bit over large. Saw a display set of chairs and a table that was about a third larger than normal. Freaked me out.

Also, anything large in an enclosed space. Went to a museum with DH, and there was a large Easter Island statue in a tiny room...it made me feel sick and dizzy to walk past it [shudders]

Cannot bear tie pins, or men wearing any rings other than a wedding ring. It really creeps me out and I find it very hard to even look at them.

Little girls in tartan party dresses and black patent shoes. Just looks really sinister (think I watched a horror movie, where a little girl wore a similar outfit).

idtwinplustoddlermum · 22/10/2014 21:51

Polystyrene. Wooden spoons (especially drying them with a tea towel). People crunching things near me (nuts/cornflakes/apples). My husband's stubble, yuk!

flanjabelle · 22/10/2014 21:57

Dd is one and is still in the put everything in her mouth stage. I freak out if I see her licking cardboard or sucking a wooden spoon. there is something about the dryness of them that makes me feel all shaky and cringy. My teeth feel on edge just thinking about it.

TheWhisperingDeath · 22/10/2014 21:58

I love all you lot. You're as weird as me.

This one is v odd, but my beautiful daughter does a face that scares me. She just smiles and stares a little too long, in a horror movie way. Gives me the willies.

On a more mundane level...

Wardrobe doors left ajar
Looking in the rear view mirror when driving at night
Folding my mother in law's smalls when I do her laundry... I know, I need to get a grip
Axes
Hammers
Knives
Dried out cat food stuck to the bowl
Open washing machines and tumble dryers

Shadowracer · 22/10/2014 22:00

wispering Grin to mother in laws smalls

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 22:01

A scab on a bald man's head
dontbuttermynaan, a fly perched on the scab - on a bald man's head.

MyGhostIsFlummoxed · 22/10/2014 22:01

Stilt-walkers
Those motorised statues that slowly repeat one movement over & over (you seem to always get them in cobblers/key cutter places)

MacGotFat · 22/10/2014 22:03

Many moons ago my housemates & I had a fancy dress party themed 'Things that shouldn't be scary but are'.
From memory, we had rubber gloves (marigolds), lip gloss, the tooth fairy, clowns, priests, monks, doctors, horsey (as in posh 'ra' horse-riding) girls, mirrors, masks, the sun (that was someone with a skin-cancer phobia), China dolls, strippers...
'Twas a good party...

FannyFifer · 22/10/2014 22:03

Nuns, terrifying.

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 22:04

Badroly, the bedroom door must be left open. How else will you be able to make a swift exist, when you're fleeing from the things that come flying out of the wardrobe doors and drawers?

FannyFifer · 22/10/2014 22:05

Sunglasses, I can't speak to someone wearing them, puts me on edge.
