Noise in the quiet carriage IS indeed annoying, the conductor person did not act on your complaint; again, rather annoying. I am not sure it warranted the length of your article, sorry.

A bit long winded and disappointing. I was really hoping for something outrageous at the end but all I got was a damp squib.

I must have missed the reason why you felt the guard didn't act because you are female while trawling through all the unnecessary wordiness.

Thing is, you sat through it for 45 minutes without saying anything. Why didn't you mention it to those concerned instead of sitting there waiting for the guard to come along?

I gave up at the point were you suggested that you and a multitude of others will never go to Bristol again.

I don't doubt that this group of people were noisy and less than pleasant, but you come across as very self-important, snobbish and entitled.

What a self indulgent article! I had to wade through reams of what sounded like a CV of the author's achievements! Clearly no one has taught her to succinctly get to the key issue!

I don't understand why the author thought it was because she was a woman that her complaint wasn't dealt with, although a 'small voiced, pleading look' isn't something I would deal with as a high priority if I was a guard either. To be honest, it's this sort of 'because I am a woman' wailing that gives women a bad name.

Next time, I suggest that if the author is inconvenienced she go directly to a guard, clearly state that she is unhappy with the volume and ask the guard to speak with the individuals. Or just speak to them herself.

Also presumably you were near the end of your journey by the time you complained. It probably wasn't worth the guard sorting it out.

Well, seeing that the 13.30 Bristol to Paddington is scheduled to take exactly half an hour between Reading and Paddington, perhaps the guard was stressed because of passengers complaining about the major delay - which the writer doesn't seem to have noticed.....

I got half way through and decided to watch paint dry instead. Frightfully misogynistic of me.

I love how she said 14:57 as if that exact time mattered. And that, when it was happening, she was checking her watch and memorising it.
