Anyone fed up of negotiating with a pre-schooler over television viewing? We've finally tamed the pestering with a simple trick - can't believe it didn't occur to me before! Other ideas welcome for when this stops working!

I agree with you about Maraed and stockholm syndrome. I used to teach in a women's prison and I am convinced that abused women with stockholm syndrome are very well represented behind bars. The trouble is that unless a person has experienced psychological abuse themselves, they cannot understand how a anyone can be so confused and frightened that they can be coerced into the most hienous acts. Women I have met have had their own and their children's lives threatened if they so much as thought about going to the police or seeking help. If you have not felt that fear, then you cannot even imagine it.
