It's World Book Day on March 7. What inspired (or desperate) costume feats have you pulled off in the past? Post your pictures (old or new) here and on Fri 15 March we'll put all the entries into a pot and pluck one out. The winner will receive £100 worth of books from World Book Day authors.

If you are stuck for ideas visit our World Book Day costume page for some great Mumsnetter suggestions.

This is my son Cam, he loves knights and books about knights and wanted a costume, I said yes but only if we could keep it under £5. The answer was to make it ourselves and we had great fun together doing it. We used felt, card, foil, foil cupcake cases and a whole load of sequin foil. It cost just under £4 to make. We just need to make a sword and shield now.

The tin man from The Wizard of Oz. Cardboard and tin foil!!

My son Jack as Max in where the wild things are. I made the outfit myself, and then we re-used it for a 'wild rumpus' birthday party a couple of weeks later.

NettleTea · 04/03/2013 14:45

an extra pic of Jack/Max blowing a horn to summon the wild things made from a ferret skin (nice.....) - just shows the tail a bit better! and the mud.....

Here is my little boy's Pirate outfit I have made for his World Book Day at school on Thursday. We were inspired by The Troll by Julia Donaldson.

Here is my son at World Book Day today as Flat Stanley. I was up until 2.30 this morning and spent a fortune in Hobby Craft, he did win his year prize though so it was all worth it in the end I suppose!

My daughter's school had their dress-up day yesterday. She was Dick Turpin from Horrible Histories: Gorgeous Georgians

I might have to complain to the Goddess of the Round-up about me not being in it for WBD costumes ideas.
surely if anyone should be in the WBD roundup it should be me?
