Hmmm, that's really interesting Joanne, and MMeG. You should actually create a new topic for that.
Recently, as you know my food blog was listed in Channel 4's family food blog round up. It seems to have put me on the radar for many a PR. Unfortunately none seem to have actually read anything about the blog, including 'about me' where they would have clearly seen that I now blog from Canada, even if I do very British dishes sometimes. I am a polite person though, so I always respond back saying that as I blog from Canada, I am unable to review such and such product. I do wish for once that someone would take the time to check the blog before offering me free stuff, then I wouldn't have to do this in the first place.
My worst one is where I was referred to as 'Mitch' just because I have Football in my blog title. They wanted me to review something looked like a penis with balls. I kid you not. I am not naming names because I don't want it to show up in search engines. But seriously??? On my blog???
I have all of three reviews on my blog, one of which is for a food festival for which I was offered tickets to, the second one a cafe review, for which I interviewed the owner and one where I made a recipe from a cookbook. I actually do have an idea of doing the cafe thing as a series, focussing on independent small cafes that I frequent in the city, usually with an accompanying interview. I prefer to not take free food, as I would rather have the opportunity to be frank and fair in my reviews. But that's just me.
I hate that word Mummyblagger or for that matter, Mummyblogger. Should our identities be purely about the fact that we have children? I am a food blogger who happens to have a finicky vegetarian child. It offers me fodder (sorry sorry) for the blog, but I certainly wouldn't class myself as just a Mummyblogger. I think that term needs to be retired. How about a simple parent blogger instead?
OK, rant over, and sorry for it in the first place :)
