Please help me to not be irritated by her acceptance speech at the Emmy's. Please lovely kind and generous MN darlings. She makes me break out in hives. She was very nice about her mum though, despite it sounding a bit pukey. See, I am trying to be happy for her.
Thoughh Julian Fellowes is an even bigger bag of snobby sick.

YABU to put this here. What is wrong with Chat? Or Sleb Twaddle (which this is)?

ssd · 19/09/2011 09:06

lola, I agree she absolutely gives me the dry boak

and cote, lola can put this where she likes!

TrillianAstra · 19/09/2011 09:10

I don't know if YABU because you have not asked whether you are being unreasonable.

Bubbaluv · 19/09/2011 09:21

Maybe this will help ?

ShowOfHands · 19/09/2011 09:25

You are reducing the already meagre importance of whether or not you like some random famous person down to a question of reasonability? Or not really seeing as you're not actually asking a question about whether or not you are being unreasonable.

Anyway, I've never met Kate Winslet. Or her Mum. I have watched Downton though. I'm grasping at a response here. Am I close?

Beans1234 · 19/09/2011 09:34

luvvie actress, air kissing drivel. As Kate is a very talented actress, I would advise her to 'act' a little more down-to-earth and likeable - for that I would award an Oscar. Maybe I'm just jealous that even pre-pregnancy, I wouldn't have been able to get my arse in a tight, red, fishtail dress!! ha ha

ThePosieParker · 19/09/2011 09:35

I love her.

bemybebe · 19/09/2011 09:46

so do i posie

elisadoeslittle · 19/09/2011 09:54

That dress is horrible.

Headscarfs123 · 19/09/2011 09:56

Ooooh yanbu

Big pillocking disingenuous, 'oh I am so normal and good and quite a modern feminist.' well in a I will boost my career further by working with a convicted pedophile director. Grrrrr.

diddl · 19/09/2011 09:57

She´s too "luvvie" for me.

auntmargaret · 19/09/2011 09:59

I agree with everything you say,OP.
YANBU.

heleninahandcart · 19/09/2011 10:00

Are you asking Kate Winslet if YABU?

Her dress it too tight, as always.

I luffs her hair and make-up though and Mildred Pierce was great. Not as great as Downton though, obvs.

If I keep on chattering I may eventually work out what your AIBU question actually was...

PublicHair · 19/09/2011 10:07

she's a twat- lying about her birth and her marriage in the media (caesarian\fallen apart in real life vs whale music\blissfully happy in interviews shortly after)
imagine if VB had done the same thing...
silly woman.

ThePosieParker · 19/09/2011 10:09

Really....about the birth?

ThePosieParker · 19/09/2011 10:10

Oh, just saw.

ShowOfHands · 19/09/2011 10:10

"oh I am so normal "

She is a normal millionnaire multi award winning actress. She's hardly going to shuffle up in a 2nd hand moth eaten housecoat, blush and apologise for being there. She's a good actress and bravo that she gets applauded for it.

NestaFiesta · 19/09/2011 10:12

OP if you had put AIBU to not like Kate Winslet you wouldn't be getting all this hassle!

As it is, I agree with you. YANBU to find Kate Winslet completely annoying, irritating, and fake.

I can't stand the way she is so normal and yet holidays on Necker. She is cloying and much too "Little Old Me?" for my palate.

lolaflores · 19/09/2011 10:34

You see, is it unreasonable to feel so unfathomably annoyed by a person, who is by trade an actress, behaving at a ceremony like she has been given the keys to the kingdom of heaven, whilst effecting the "little old me" tripe. Surely be to God, a nice thank you to everyone, glad you like my dress, see ya. should suffice. I felt embarrased for her.

Sorry if my original post was a bit spare. T'was typed in haste. But, if I may ask of the Mumnetters, Am I being unreasonable. Oh and any thoughts on the Julian Fellowes chap. He got right up my chops too.

YANBU! Didn't see Julian Fellowes but that Kate Winslet- sold out ! Also she goes on about how she hates exercise or only does 12 minutes a day or something- you just know its all bollocks.

Bubbaluv · 20/09/2011 02:34

I'm normal and if I could holiday on Necker I bloody well would!

NestaFiesta · 20/09/2011 09:07

LOL at Bubba- but I haven't forgiven Winslet for her "gather, gather" speech when she won a Golden Globe.

lolaflores · 20/09/2011 09:48

She has made a massive arse of herself. And I don't care about La Winslet, but the bit came on radio 4 ahem and I wasn't expecting it, couldn't get across kitchen fast enough to turn it off so got caught in the vile pulsing waves of ick that flowed out. Internet now awash with clip, and if I had never heard the speech, I would not watch it. She has form for this kind of emotional abuse, so I would steer well clear. I was caught unawares yesterday. Will be more vigilant.
