Celebrity ages - holding back the years?

How I guffawed, when I read about Geri Halliwell, 38, this morning. I remember being considerably younger than her when the Spice Girls were around - to the tune of at least 3 or 4 years. Now, we practically share a birthday.

Any one else noticed this and who else is playing fast and loose with DOBs?

I think Kelly Brook has shaved a couple of years off her age too.

Nicole Sherzinger. Lots around at this very moment about her age, think she has been 32/26 for a while. Supposedly no one gets to see her passport.

And we have Caprice (36) also.

My mum would pipe up at this moment Jilly Johnson (ex page 3 model) who had a daughter at the same time as she did, and at the same age. But some years later, Jilly had not aged at all, in looks or in number. Should clarify that my mum is the polar opposite in every sense to a Page 3 model.

Beyonce is another, she has been 27 for at least 5 years now. Also, can Katy Perry really be 24?

Jessie J is meant to be 21/22 - she must have had a really rough paper round if that's her real age.

MissMary, is that true about Anna Friel? Her IMDB entry says she's 35. I know that's not gospel, but I don't think she looks any older really.

I think Anna Friel might have maybe shaved a year off at most. I found a deleted wikipedia page giving her DOB as 1975. The Brookside kiss thing was 1994 and she was 18, so it broadly stacks up, unless pages of internet history have been re-written.

CZJ would have to have been 22 in the Darling Buds of May, which is plausible enough.

Anastacia (remember her...?) was "24" (but actually 30) when Outta Love came out, thanks to record co marketing wizardry.

It's quite disgraceful really. I'd be genuinely chuffed to see an actress or musician hit the big time in her late 20s or early/mid 30s.

Is that the model Caprice? The one whom I was sneering at in my early twenties for having a name that means "selfish whim?" Which would mean she was about 14 when her modelling career started.

Although that's not unfeasible, scarily. Wasn't Kate Moss discovered at 14? And Lily Cole?

Amanda De Cadenet is another one who is apparently still in her thirties, but then she was very young when she became famous I think?

I remember ADC becoming famous when she was around 16. I think I was maybe 12-13 then, and I'm 33 now so it would make sense she's still in her thirties.

Oh yes, Catherine Zeta J, Kylie, Liz Hurley and Jennifer Aniston all use to be older than me.

Catherine ZJ use to be a good couple of years older than me. Ulrika Johnson looks a lot older than she claims.

But I can't see how they could get away with fibbing. Wouldn't someone say 'hang on, I used to go to school with you and I'm 47.' ?

I agree UJ looks older, sadly. She is 43, which is two years older than me - definitely true as she was at school with a friend of mine two years above me.

If celebs lie about their age I think the real shame is that they feel the need to - same as how celebs feel they need to lie about their sexuality.

On the other end of the scale, Nigella Lawson looks good for her age imo.

Well if Geri Halliwell is over 40 she is looking bloody good for it, ok may have had facial surgery and botox, but her body looks like that of a much younger woman

Another one is Christine Bleakley who tried to shave a year off of her age and was then outed as being 32.

I'm the same age and can't help, in spite of myself, comparing how I look to celebs in their early 30's. Sad really, that women put themselves through this.

Very telling that there are no male celebrities on this thread.
