I am highly intelligent, ask me anything

Using standard IQ scales/assessments I am highly intelligent. I have also done some research into high intelligence. Being highly intelligent has advantages and drawbacks. Ask me anything :-)

(Just to preempt some comments: No, I don’t think intelligent people are better human beings than other people. I think qualities such as being kind are more important for example. No, intelligent people are not always ‘better for society’, there is some evidence, for example, that really highly intelligent people carry out proportionally somewhat more crimes (white collar). No, I don’t look down on less intelligent people (sometimes I envy them), but it can obviously be a bit difficult to connect if you have very different frames of reference. No, intelligence does not have any direct links to social skills (positive or negative).)

One massive one. You could keep an eye on her better and use a weapon to good effect.

What if there are no weapons in play? just you wearing standard clothes (no steel capped boots)

This is a really interesting thread, thanks for starting it. I find it fascinating that there's a fairly representative spread of the way people react to high intelligence in the comments. Some trying to pick holes, find fault with you in some way as though you'd said "I am perfect."
And some genuinely interested, nice people asking reasonable curious questions. All human life is here! 😂

Perhaps you could get a job in the school system and improve it?

I think that someone who has such lack of awareness to post about being super intelligent is exactly the sort of person we wouldn’t want in our education system.

It's an "ask me anything" and "I might answer if I feel like it".

Edited

I actually was hoping for questions like what's your favourite cheese and do you like football :)

I think this thread is a bit self indulgent. I'm on degree number 5 but I wouldn't particularly view myself as highly intelligent and start a thread saying so

What's your take on the meaning of life?

Do you believe in life after death?
Gin or Vodka Martini?
Is Rachel Thieves a bitch?

HangryMoose · 22/02/2026 11:07

Would you rather fight one massive duck or 1000 tiny ducks?

I’ll answer on their behalf:

1000 tiny ones because I could stamp on most of them. A giant one would probably eat me whole.

MonstrousRegimentRocks · 22/02/2026 11:13

Where did you grow up?

Do you have a regional accent? If so, do people make assumptions about your intelligence? I ask because I have an RP accent and I find people assume I'm intelligent but I'm really quite thick.

It has been shown many times that people make assumptions about intelligence (and other things) based on accent, so that is not surprising. (But don't think about yourself as thick - I hope that was just something you put there!)

I have a very slightly foreign language accent, so sometimes people think I'm from another English speaking country, sometimes they don't quite know.

Absolutely. That is why conversations like these won't happen in real life. Sometimes anonymous discussion online can provide good perspectives on things that you wouldn't discuss in real life though.

I’d hope that intelligent ppl in real life are spending their time more constructively than spending time considering how intelligent they are.

I don’t mean in any way to steal OP’s self-proclaimed thunder but Mensa 1% is only 135+ which isn’t that high in the general scheme of things.

Have you identified and perspective trends on this thread and what do you make of it?

TheFuturesSoBright · 22/02/2026 11:14

Any brothers or sisters, and are they similar to you?

NotMajorTom · 22/02/2026 11:15

I think I know why op won’t say their iq score. They’ve pointed out a few times that this thread and the tests are not in their first language. I don’t think they score that well but the juts know they are cleverer than that so the score isn’t “right”

op I’m sure you’re very bright. You’re also avoiding some questions, and it’s unclear why you started this as, being bright, you must know it’s never something that goes down well when you talk about it.

ScarlettSarah · 22/02/2026 11:15

Do you agree that people who are truly intelligent would have such a wide concept of what 'intelligence' means that they probably wouldn't post on the Internet referencing IQ tests and presuming they are more intelligent than other people?

muggart · 22/02/2026 11:15

Gloriia · 22/02/2026 11:03

Yes if were highly intelligent I'd have aimed to be loaded. Flash car, staff. The lot.

same. i’d be inventing all sorts of amazing new things and hanging out with the smartest of the smartest inventors and entrepreneurs. business would be conducted on boats in monaco and at personal mansions. i know people like this and their lives are honestly great- fulfilling, surrounded by interesting people, fun, and cushioned in luxury at every step.

The thought of reliving the gcse syllabus and talking to teenagers all days as a teacher, when you could in theory achieve so much and have a wonderful time doing it, is crazy to me.

But he/she isn’t answering the interesting questions. Or are some of us too thick and therefore don’t deserve answers?

Why do you think you have a “weaker” inner world? That’s not related to intelligence.

I was a highly intelligent child and young adult, but after a few seizures (which affected my memory) and a head injury, I’m pretty sure if I had to take an IQ test again it wouldn’t be in the genius level any more. I find it effortful to learn things now and have poor attention to detail. Yet my inner world is just is vibrant and my thoughts and feelings just as valid as before.

I’m not doing myself down, I’m being honest. I am a doer rather than a thinker; my husband and one of my kids can sit there all day just thinking, and pondering etc. I absolutely get bored after 5 minutes of that and need constant stimulation. I have a massive thirst for knowledge like he does but I need to be constantly engaged whereas he is honestly just a very deep thinker….there is nothing wrong with that of course but the sometimes wonder if he’d secretly prefer if I started airing philosophical dilemmas over the shepherds pie rather than my perpetual favourite topics of frothing about the state of the world, slagging off my siblings and wondering what’s for pudding

I am finding this question and conversation most interesting -
What was your education like as a social experience and do you remember being aware of higher ability and developing strategies as a child to manage the difference?
Were you higher ability within your family?

I went to school in another country where there was much less focus on results than here. I stood out from an early age and was quite bullied for understanding/knowing things and from wanting to learn other things than most others from an early age. I coped by hiding myself/what I liked/disliked to fit in but from the age of 12 or so I was just waiting for school to finish so that I could pursue interests and hopefully find my tribe and did not care about trying to fit in.

@Cerialkiller

I'll skip commenting on my academic field here. Re constraining myself - I don't think most people notice it, it's just difficult for me.

Yes, myths that high intelligence is linked to being anti-social are common. I don't think it is, and there is little research to support that hypothesis. However: most people are most at ease in groups where they feel comfortable, and many people who are highly intelligent feel slightly uncomfortable in groups where they cannot be themselves entirely. That may feed this view.

I said something about happiness above, and definitely think there is a high likelihood that being highly intelligent means lower chances of being happy in life, unfortunately. Fitting in is the most important thing for many/most people and when you don't fit in with most people, it is difficult

I would question your use of the word antisocial. Perhaps asocial would be more appropriate, however I am perhaps assuming your intended meaning.

I am in the same bracket as OP, was bullied mercilessly at school and socially struggled Nevertheless I’ve always achieved highly and never struggled with anything that required plain intellect. One thing that leaps out at me is OP‘s mention of the use of learning to work, despite not necessarily needing to. My son, who is of similar intelligence never learnt this, grew bored, disaffected and depressed and has now all but lost his mental health which breaks me emotionally. I would emphasise to other posters the importance of getting it right for your intelligent children. I have made many mistakes (so clearly not emotionally intelligent) and have many regrets.
