The disclaimer:

I changed my name for this.

I can’t tell you why your claim was declined, or if you’ll be accepted with a particular condition.

I can’t comment on individual claims or look you up on the system on Monday.

I won’t bother with any “how do you sleep at night?” comments as they’re just inflammatory.

I’ve done the job for around 8 years, so covered the job in pre and post-pandemic times. Work full time, 9-5 and I’m a nurse by profession.

My part of the job is the actual consultation.

See people say I should apply for PIP but reading everything I'm not eligible
It's frustrating to be on the edge of struggling working 40hrs a week but not unwell enough for PIP
(Endometriosis, hashimotos, neutropenia and a few other bits)

On a good day I can exercise, cook, live normally. On a bad day I can't move for pain

Are your bad days more than 50%?

That is the qualifier for eligibility to apply

I have bipolar disorder and have been stable for the most part for a couple of years however I do struggle a few times a year and working full time really impedes on me with stress. I'd love to be able to protect myself and cut back to four days: I've been extremely unwell and take a lot of medication. However I didn't get PIP as I was able to look after myself.
At my worst I can't get out of bed.

Is it worth sending my work occupational health report to the DWP to support my application?

Nurse4 · 08/03/2025 16:36

Hi,
Just wondering if you're able to recommend specific companies to work for please?
Thank you in advance!

I've just been awarded standard for living, just scrapped it with 8 points.

Although I haven't got a menu of diagnosis's, the disabilities and conditions I have have led me to burn out. I now barely leave the house because I'm too exhausted. I do work PT and don't get UC, I also can drive. If I couldn't do either of those things my life would just be not worth living, it's debatable if it is now, but I'm hoping one day my health will recover.

I definitely understood the scoring system, and the telephone assessment wasn't challenging but the person doing it was a physio and had no idea about my medical conditions or disabilities and actually said some quite offensive things about it. They weren't being deliberately nasty and I wasn't offended, but they were very dismissive of the huge impact of one of my disabilities. It was quite surprising as I had assumed they would know more about certain conditions that must be very prevalent in those claiming PIP.

I assumed I wouldn't get more than 12 points for the living element (even though I did feel I met the criteria for 12+) but was surprised I only got 8. I'm not going to fight for a review, I haven't the energy, but it's was an eye opener to how crap your life has to be to get any support.

I'll be spending my PIP to meet the extra costs of having to outsource as much I can to keep going. PIP no way covers the extra costs, but obviously as I don't leave the house then I save money on clothes, makeup, travel, social life etc.
