As the title really Smile

Considering a tummy tuck or a spot of lipo? Or want to know about abdominal muscle repair? I had all procedures 13 weeks, so feel free to ask me anything

@Sarahandduck18 I worried about the risks, yes. The surgery carries risks of very small things going wrong (small in the grand scheme of things!) and yes, I had a few. Wound breakdown for one and my belly button is still being a pain.

I didn't think about not waking up because the overwhelming majority of people do! However I did wake up to be told I must wear a 'medical alert' bracelet as I'm difficult to intubate. So I must get round to that!

The surgery carries the highest satisfaction rate but it's not for the faint hearted. You have to basically face that you'll have a week of being immobile and that recovery could be long and gruelling - but you won't know until you have the op.

I was lucky. I did have minor bits and pieces but nothing major. I'm now almost 6 months post op and have my final consultant check up in a couple of weeks. My belly button isn't quite right ... it's closed up a lot (ironically, I panicked for the first few months that it was like a saucer!) and it's prone to an ongoing infection. This is because belly buttons do not appreciate being surgically messed about with!

@FrameyMcFrame oh ancient. I was 48 when I had the surgery. 49 now.

My first question to the surgeon was 'am I too old?' and he just laughed. The answer was a resounding NO.

And a pic at nearly 6 months showing how the scar is now. It's faded a lot but of course is still visible as it always will be.

Just doing a big update all at once in case anyone comes across this thread when researching - I'd have found it so useful. It's a full 12 months to complete recovery so I'm half way there

And also showing some swelling! Again, very normal up to 12 months. I don't get much at all and then I'll have a few days of it.

When you're stitched up, it's a little like the back of a chesterfield sofa ... you're stitched in 'pockets' and between these pockets, you can swell as all the layers try and knit back together

Hi op @FlamingoAtTheBingo - I’ve finally had my op done (by Fulvio!)- 2 weeks ago now. Smile

I’m just reading back on this thread and your description is exactly what I’ve had too! So funny. First few days bloody awful and I started to question what I’d done - although the morphine pump was pretty cool!- but by day 5 I felt so much better and now at day 14 I’m almost back to normal - except for sleeping! I HATE sleeping on my back and just can’t get comfy Angry

What’s really bugging me is the binder- it’s so uncomfortable and I loathe it. Had my follow up yesterday and he says if anything it could be tighter - can barely breathe! I know it’s needed but can’t wait to ditch it. Did you stick with the full binder for 6 weeks or did you move to something less restrictive? And if so what?

Hope you’re doing well!

I'm looking to get a mommy make over in April. Abroad.
Will include boob uplift and implant too. I'm hoping I'll be back to work after 2 weeks. Do you think that's doable? X

Can you tell us about the breast reduction? What size were you before and after? Did the results last or did they grow back?
