Also had liposuction and a small repair to a tear in stomach muscle. I'm bored now so if anyone has any questions....AMA and if I can answer, I will!

@Alternista

Thanks for this OP. I’ve lost 3 stone (And has two c/secs) and look v similar to your before pic. Still got a bit more to go but maybe I’ll start saving, cos the skin on my lower tummy is just fucked.... keep updating us?
Nothing wrong with saving now and seeing how you feel once you've lost all the weight you want to! If you decide it's not for you you've money for something else!

I will say though that the fitter you can be in the lead up the better your recovery will be. I've worked my arse off with my fitness the last 4 years, more so the last year. I feel way better than I thought I would so soon afterwards!

Yes that’s a really good point too. I think recovery from most things is easier if your baseline fitness is decent. Mine is ok, but there’s room for improvement there too.
So excited to see your end result :)

Thanks for info OP, really helpful :)

Is it a more invasive op with the lipo and/ or
More risky? I was wondering about having it done without lipo but at same time if I’m doing it I might as well go whole hog and get best result I guess 😆

If anyone’s looking for before/after pics I follow a surgeon called Richard Baker on insta, would prob go with him if I did it ...

gubbbbbddaaaa · 24/10/2020 19:01

Where did you have it done ? I'd love one for my skin . My tummy is pretty much flat but I have a lot of skin ! 😬 I'm scared of infection !

52andblue · 24/10/2020 19:06

I've lost a lot of weight and would like to have this done.
I also have diastasis rectii - can they sew the muscles back too?

The op is definitely more invasive with the lipo. My incision for the tuck runs very low down hip to hip. The bruising caused by lipo goes right up to my arm pits! The nurse I saw the other day said she's seen far worse!

One of the bigger risks with TT is blood clots....in not sure if adding lipo adds or increases risk, but you get given sticking and blood thinner injections for 14 days.

As far as infection is concerned I was given a course of anti-biotics to take post op.

If you're going to have one procedure done you may as well have the other done at the same time, if it's required!

I had it done with The Private Clinic of Harley street, London. They have clinics elsewhere in the uk but I think most of those are used for smaller procedures.

I had a tear in the muscle just below my belly button and that was fixed at the same time. Only needed a few stitches.

thank you, that's very helpful to know.
I still have a 2inch deep cleft below my navel.
It's that as much as the overhang that gets to me as I still look pg :(
thank you for posting, it's been very helpful
I hope you continue to heal well and get the result you were after x

MollyBloomYes · 24/10/2020 20:16

Ooooh I'm on a weight loss journey at the moment and will definitely have wrinkly skin and c section overhang. I would love to get this done but the only way I'll be able to do it is financed!
Can I ask:
How much are your finance payments?
Is it realistic to be able to get it done with not much support at home? I'm a single mum and would definitely need to wait until my children are older but would rather not have to wait until they're adults!

gubbbbbddaaaa · 24/10/2020 23:17

I bet it feels amazing to have such a flat stomach !! 🤩🤩

Ooops double post !

BoringUserNam3 · 24/10/2020 23:23

Hi Op

I too had a TT on the 16th so I'm 8 days post op. Interesting thread!

bumblenbean · 25/10/2020 00:37

Boring what’s your recovery / pain been like?

BoringUserNam3 · 25/10/2020 09:12

@bumblenbean so far so good - touch wood! I'm day 9 today and I'd say that it was pretty brutal up to day 3. This was not only due to the pain but the whole nausea, brain fog and general 'unwell' feeling that taking strong painkillers produces in me. It was literally every couple of hours that a nurse would appear with antibiotics/ paracetamol/ anti sickness pill/ OxyContin/ tramadol - different ones at different times and the stronger ones just made me feel so ill. I had the op on Friday and a terrible night Friday night - insisted on going for a wee at 3am and was in agonising pain and crying, needing a nurse to do it all for me.

I came home on Sunday and immediately stopped everything apart from paracetamol and my antibiotics and I even stopped the paracetamol on day 5.

bumblenbean · 25/10/2020 09:21

Ooh that sounds tough!! Did they get you up moving quite quickly? Have heard that’s important to avoid DVT, though I guess you’re limited how much you can move haha.

Is it possible to get (vaguely!) comfy when lying down? I’m slightly alarmed by reports of not being able to stand up other than at a 90 degree angle Blush

bumblenbean · 25/10/2020 09:24

Ooh also Boring did you have lipo too? If not I’d love to see any before and after pics if you’re happy to share (of course totally understand you probably don’t want to!) as I’m wondering how different the result is without any added lipo for upper tum Smile

BoringUserNam3 · 25/10/2020 10:13

Yes I had lipo to the flanks plus a 4 cm muscle repair. He removed (including the lipo) 6kg in total so that's quite jaw dropping really.

They do want you sat up ASAP yes. I however did not want to sit up ASAP! Made me feel unwell and it's painful. You wear compression stockings for two weeks after too (oops, I appear to not have mine in BUT I am now back to walking - currently doing 3-4000 steps a day so taking it very easy (I supply do 12-15000)

I can't sleep propped up so I was not good for 3 or 4 days but now I can lie on my usual one pillow and I have two under my knees - it's important to create the bend so you don't place strain on the incision. And I can also now sleep on my side again. Takes me a while to do it and I need pillows between my knees but it's meant in now sleep properly (nearly) again. Sleeping in a binder and foam insert etc isn't exactly fun either.

Every day you feel a small improvement but you would need to strap in for a very difficult 4/5 days I'd say

I'm happy to post up some results but I'm conscious this isn't my thread Grin

BoringUserNam3 · 25/10/2020 11:03

@bumblenbean oh and I can't stand straight. I was only stopped for a few days. I sometimes need a minute or two to 'loosen up' if I've been sat down for a while but I'm relatively upright now. The hunched over thing comes from how aggressive a muscle repair you've had!

bumblenbean · 25/10/2020 11:07

Thanks so much to you both for such helpful info!

I am SO keen to do it but what’s making me hesitate is having two very young children (Age 2 and 3) and I keep thinking (rather dramatically) what if my ‘vanity’ leaves them motherless?! But I guess you just have to weigh up the risks and make an informed decision with all the info.

riotlady · 25/10/2020 11:47

When can you go back to work? Have you taken holiday?

BoringUserNam3 · 25/10/2020 12:01

My children are older - the youngest is 13. I couldn't have done this when they were very little , you need a clear recovery period so you'd need lots of support

I didn't need to take any time off luckily as I own my business and work from home anyway and my business is such that it can all be done via email and phone in the main. For a desk job you'd need at least 2 weeks off and possibly 3. And that's if you heal and recover well and steadily

I took finance for £10k which works out at just over £200pm for 5 years. I paid the rest in cash. The op was cancelled 3 times due to Covid so I carried on putting aside what I would have been paying had the op gonna ahead originally and was able to pay more off after the initial deposit.

Ffs, name change fail again! 😆
