Due to a recent thread of AMA (which i commented on) i thought i would start this thread! Smile

OP posts:

rue was pretty awful, and very patronising.

Fstar · 23/10/2019 21:50

Hi, i know you have had enough of the thread but can i please ask, for the migraines, do they do it just in a specific area or is it forehead and around eyes?

MeanMrMustardSeed · 23/10/2019 21:54

Sorry to hear about your brother.

Given the possibility of future (negative) implications of having Botox, do you think the money would have been better spent on counselling and dark glasses?

MustardScreams · 23/10/2019 21:55

@Fstar you should only go through the NHS for migraine treatment with Botox.

It’s generally if you have more than 15 episodes a month and regular medication isn’t working for you. A DR (not a nurse) that has trained in migraine relief injections will then assess and administer, it’s generally around the head and neck area, depending on your type of migraine.

Cosmetic prosecutes such as op won’t do a lot for chronic migraines. Especially if just in the forehead.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 23/10/2019 21:55

That sounded harsher than I meant it to. I mean counselling for self-image and self-worth issues (and obviously dark glasses for your migraines)

MustardScreams · 23/10/2019 21:56

*procedures, autocorrect is bananas tonight!

Brackish · 23/10/2019 21:57

Hang on, is it quite usual for oncology or other specialist nurses to administer Botox on the side?

CatToddlerUprising · 23/10/2019 21:59

@iamtinkabella thank you! Will look in to it 😊

mamandematribu · 23/10/2019 22:03

How much has it cost you so far?

WalkofShame · 23/10/2019 22:03

What did you want people to ask you when you wrote your thread title?

bookwormsforever · 23/10/2019 22:05

AMA - hold on, no, just say things that will confirm I was right to have Botox at 22. If you ask anything else, I will strop off... Hmm

Fstar · 23/10/2019 22:29

Thanks @mustardscreams i know its pretty extreme so will stick to tablets, just curious

Avenilson · 23/10/2019 23:17

😂😂😂

OooErMissus · 24/10/2019 02:20

Having Botox at 22 is unusual.

Of course it is, otherwise it wouldn't be worthy of an 'Ask Me Anything' thread.

It's a bit naive not to have anticipated how this thread might go, or the particular aspect that might intrigue people the most (having Botox at such a young age).

Most people who start AMAs, don't actually want people to ask them anything, though.

KTCluck · 24/10/2019 02:51

Brackish I know a few nurses who have qualified in Botox for cosmetic purposes as a sideline. They also do lip fillers etc. However, the protocol used for Botox as migraine treatment is different to that used cosmetically and in the NHS, or at least in my trust, would be performed by a consultant specialising in migraines (after other options have been unsuccessful). Assuming the nurse has injected the usual cosmetic positions I’d suspect any relief for migraines is a result of the placebo effect.

WildCherryBlossom · 24/10/2019 02:58

Have you tried taking B2 and magnesium supplements for your migraines? My daughter had started to get them and we were recommended to try this as a preventative. Apparently you need to take them for a month to see any effect and we are only a fortnight or so into it (but no migraines yet Smile)

Brackish · 24/10/2019 06:22

@KTCluck, that’s what I was thinking, because the woman I know who has Botox to block facial nerve pain travels to a consultant in another health trust to have it done. Hmmm.

Greenglassteacup · 24/10/2019 06:31

Wow, what a weird ‘ask me anything’ that ended up as ‘you can only ask some things but definitely nowhere near anything or I’ll rip your head off’

RaymondStopThat · 24/10/2019 08:59

she is specially qualified in botox as well. You can be qualified in more than one thing

Well if course someone can be qualified in more than one thing, but that in itself doesn't mean anything. Have you asked about the qualification? How long it took? How much additional anatomy studying she had to do? What the exams were? What ongoing training, appraisal and revalidation she undertakes? Oh and no-one other than a doctor - and probably a consultant neurologist at that - should be injecting you for migraines. You seem very naive

DogAndCatPerson · 24/10/2019 09:15

AMA

But not that. Or that. Or that. Definitely not that. Grin

Contraceptionismyfriend · 24/10/2019 09:26

What job do you hold?
Do you live alone?
You say it lasts 6/8 months does that mean you had your first round at about 20?

Contraceptionismyfriend · 24/10/2019 09:30

Also I looked the procedure up online as I have close family who suffer terribly with migraines and this is the treatment plan I found.

Botox Treatment
You'll get several shots of Botox around your head and neck once every 12 weeks to dull or prevent migraine headaches.
You may need 30 to 40 shots in all, and you'll get an equal number on each side of your head. If you have migraine pain in one particular spot, you may need more shots there. You could see results 2 to 3 weeks after your first treatment.
You should only get this type of Botox treatment from a doctor who's trained to give these shots for chronic migraine headaches rather than for wrinkles or other cosmetic uses.

Where do you get the injections?

jay55 · 24/10/2019 11:21

Do you think it's unethical for a nurse to prey on vulnerable family members of a sick child to get cosmetic procedures to top up their nhs salary?

MustardScreams · 24/10/2019 11:24

Op doesn’t have Botox for migraines, she just made that up when people started questioning her. No one has frown lines injected for migraines 😂

DonkeyHotty · 24/10/2019 15:07

And I’m CERTAIN that no one has Botox for crows feet 😂. Op why not just admit that you have it done because you think it make you look better?

I have a question actually: do you think the rise of young people having botox in their twenties is partly responsible for the insidious rise in pressure for young people to conform to a certain manufactured beauty type?
