I've been blogging about perfume since 2013. Ask me anything. No snobbery, all budgets and nothing is off the table.

@TheFaerieQueene

I really love Sexy 9 by Trish McEvoy, but it is only sold by a couple of outlets which is a shame as all her perfumes are beautiful- as is the makeup. Can you recommend as similar?

I haven't smelled this but I would imagine it's similar to L'Artisan Parfumeur Mure et Musc or Shay and Blue Blueberry Musk. Shay and Blue does a nice Discovery box pick'n'mix for £25.

Here's my review of Mure et Musc bit.ly/2Izg7mU

and here'e my review of Bluberry Musk bit.ly/2KSgVCh

@BabyMoonPie Can you recommend a cheaper alternative to Giorgio Armani Si please? I can't justify the cost now I have DD but I love the smell. Thank you

Try Elizabeth Arden Always Red or, if you can get it on ebay or Amazon, Avon Premier Luxe

@teacherman You're singing my song! I'm a huge champion of bargain perfumes. Check out this post I wrote on perfumes under a tenner.

I recommend Next, M&S, Avon and Elizabeth Arden Green Tea range, including all the variations.

@stellavisionandunderstanding I mourn with you. It was one of my all time favourites. My friends got me a great dupe from Eden, although I can't officially endorse dupes on my blog. However, since Gucci refuse to bring it back, I unofficially recommend Eden perfumes.

I also like Issey Miyake A Scent, Yardley Jade, Jo Loves 42 the Flowershop and Yardley Lily of the Valley.

MissBattleaxe Thankyou! Please let us know how you get on, that’s a really nostalgic fragrance for me, I work in a cosmetics hall and when the rep came for that company years ago I remember being very frosty with him as if he’d made the decision personally!GrinBlush

BabyMoonPie · 16/08/2019 16:15

@MissBattleaxe thank you so much!

MissBattleaxe · 16/08/2019 16:19

@commontern I like Diorissimo and use it all the time. Can you suggest an alternative please. I have tested a few florals but not found anything I like. As a young women I wore the original Je Reviens but dislike the new version. I like scented flowers in the garden like lilacs and honeysuckle (not roses). Thank you

Hi, I love lilacs and LOTV too. You could try Lilac Path by Aerin Lauder, Guerlain Champs Elysee, Guerlain Apres L'Ondee (more of a violet/iris but beautiful) or you could use Yardley Lily of the Valley over an existing scent as a layer.

What else might I like - I wore Hugo Deep Red on my wedding day, but my go to perfume is Chloe but it’s too expensive for every day. I’m still kicking myself for not buying a 75ml bottle in a
Spanish outlet for €45...!

OhtheHillsareAlive · 16/08/2019 16:25

I was bereft when the Body Shop stopped making their Tea Rose oil. What's the best replacement?

MissBattleaxe · 16/08/2019 16:26

@LadyGAgain My fave perfume of all time was EL Brazilian dream. 10 years ago. It reminded me of frangipani. Gutted I can't find a replica. Do you know any perfumes with frangipani? I've found jasmine but not frangipani and this is my favourite flower to look at and due to its gorgeous fragrant scent

First of all, if you like coconut and white flowers, try Avon Tahitian Holiday or EL Bronze Goddess. If it's Frangipani you're after, try 4160 Tuesdays Centrepiece or Body Shop Polynesian Island Tiare.

@SandunesAndRainclouds I've got one you'll like that's way cheaper than Chloe. M&S Rosie for Autograph is similar to Chloe and is a beautiful long lasting floral. It's about £15 for 30ml.

@Scruffalicious I've never tried any BPAL to be honest, so I can't give an opinion. What do you think?

@OhtheHillsareAlive I used to love their perfume oils too. The Atlas Mountain Rose one was amazing. Since they're not doing them any perfume oils at all any more, then I recommend Neal's Yard Wild Rose Multi Purpose skin balm. It smells incredible. You can use it for lip gloss, hand cream etc but I like to put it on my wrists and neck just for the smell. It's a bit spendy but a little goes a long way.

I used to absolutely adore Bvlgari Au The Blanc.
Can you recommend an alternative?

SandunesAndRainclouds · 16/08/2019 16:43

@MissBattleaxe thank you I’ll check it out!

Lemontree118 · 16/08/2019 16:47

I love Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely, is there anything similar that I might like too? Just incase it’s discontinued.

OhtheHillsareAlive · 16/08/2019 16:51

Thank you @MissBattleaxe

I find that Jo Malone Red Roses is almost the same, but quite pricey for everyday, even at duty free prices. I'll look out for the Neal's Yard Wild Rose cream. It sounds gorgeous.

Scruffalicious · 16/08/2019 18:34

MissBattleaxe I used to order them, but the imps are expensive with postage. I liked the quirkyness of them, but when you order bigger bottles the price racks up.

Some scents are very clever, while others seems to smell very samey. I think they're playing to a market.

LadyGAgain · 16/08/2019 18:51

Thanks @MissBattleaxe . I am not good at this. What's 4160 Tuesday?

LadyGAgain · 16/08/2019 18:52

Oooh Googled! Interesting! I'm on it. Thank you!

namby · 16/08/2019 18:56

Apologies if this has been asked, what do you think of FM perfumes? Do they smell close to you? Do you think they last as long?

suze28 · 17/08/2019 22:51

31RueCambon · 18/08/2019 00:57

midnight shopping! I just bought a 2ml sample @MissBattleaxe

wetwiped · 18/08/2019 11:44

Sorry if I've missed this being previously mentioned - do you know of anything similar to Clinique Wrappings? My absolute all time favourite, nothing comes close to perfume? Great thread, I've ordered a couple of samples from eBay to try on the back of it, thanks!

MissBattleaxe · 18/08/2019 11:59

@hoxt I thought of another one your DD might like. It's Avon Eve Truth. Currently £10 inc body lotion. Smells very similar to Jimmy Choo Floral
