I had a large back tooth that was 90% filling and a 'shell' of real tooth round the edge. It's just snapped off leaving a level circle of tooth in my gum: can't feel edge with my tongue so must be just below gum level. It doesn't hurt just feels bit odd. Extract or leave well alone? And how much is tooth implant?

YoYotheclown · 15/07/2018 00:33

What’s your pay like ?
I’ve been asking all the AMA ( career ones ) same question btw😆

TyneTeas · 15/07/2018 00:41

Do you judge people's lives on the condition of their teeth?

trashcanjunkie · 15/07/2018 00:44

What’s the best bit of your job?

Candolim97 · 15/07/2018 00:48

Is oil pulling good or bad? Do you know what tonsil stones are if so is there any way to get rid of them other than tonsillectomy?

user546425732 · 15/07/2018 00:48

What would you say if somebody came to you who hadn't been to the dentist for ten years?

crazydil · 15/07/2018 11:04

Is it best to brush teeth twice a day or after every meal...so three times.

crazydil · 15/07/2018 11:05

What advice do you have for people with mild gum disease

I'd extract it if theres no means of restoring it. Because if you leave it your right of it decaying is higher as you won't be able to clean it as well and you breath might start to smell too. Implants start at £2500k.

Last year my pre tax earnings were £150k. Thats working 8-5 and having about 8 weeks off so not bad. I'm in the top 5% of earners according to my accountant though. Im self employed though so tax, insurances, all benefits are taken out of this. the company i work for takes 70% of what goes in the till.

Do you hate people with bad teeth?

ginplease8383 · 15/07/2018 14:11

Do you judge people's lives on the condition of their teeth?

Their lifestyle yes, their lives no. Dental health can be a good indicator of how well someone looks after themselves.

What’s the best bit of your job?

Problem solving, helping patients who are ashamed of their teeth and restoring confidence, pride in my work if its not right i will spend no matter how long, until it is.

roratone · 15/07/2018 14:15

Is it really if massive consequence if I don't brush my teeth twice per day? I brush once every 2-3 days. My teeth are fine according to my dentist whom I see every 6 months. I'm just not motivated to do it.

ginplease8383 · 15/07/2018 14:15

No evidence to support that oil pulling is good so I wouldn't recommend it. All you need is a normal toothpaste.

Yes I know what a tonsil stone is but there are lots of factors that will influence the best way to get rid. A max fax or oral surgeon is probably better to speak to than me.

I’m in the wrong job!

On a serious note, what’s the fastest (and most pain free if possible) way for an adult to get straight teeth?
6 month smiles or Invisalign? Or another option?
Is it true you can’t eat properly for the duration of here treatments ?
Thanks

ginplease8383 · 15/07/2018 14:17

What would you say if somebody came to you who hadn't been to the dentist for ten years?

I would reiterate that its a good idea to attend periodically even its just a means of preventing future issues.

Can dental implants be used when the patient has severe bruxism?

My front teeth (upper and lower 1-3 on both sides) are badly cracked and I'm expecting to lose most of them in the next decade after several root canals. I'm wondering whether implants are an option for replacement when the time comes.

I'm not a candidate for veneers due to bruxism. And yes, I've worn a night guard every night for decades but I still cause massive damage.

ginplease8383 · 15/07/2018 14:23

What advice do you have for people with mild gum disease

generally get some disclosure tablets and check where you are brushing and where you might be missing. stay on top of your brushing consider increasing the length of time you brush. go see a hygienist. floss. use an antiseptic mouthwash. if it bleeds make sure you brush that area more.
