Any advice for my husband? (whom should be a vicars husband in a few years time if all goes well Grin)

That's exciting, sparkly. Where are you in the process?

My advice:

  1. Learn to sit easy to stuff - there's always stuff kicking off and people expecting you to sort it all out and it can get overwhelming. There comes a point you need to lay it down and let it go for a while.
  1. As above - be who he is, not what he thinks the vicar's husband should be like.
  1. Get support from others! I found vicar college fab for forming these relationships but I know a lot don't train that way now. A spiritual director can be a great help, or spice groups, to talk with people who really get it.
  1. Stockpile gin.
  1. Pray, if he's a praying sort! Actually, that should be 1, to underpin the whole lot! Either way, though, be excited. It's a huge adventure.

Thank you madhairday! I have recently been made an Ordinand so I'm around ¼-½ through the process so far.

Thank you for your advice, I shall pass it on. Although, I think point 4 also applies to the Vicars themselves too Grin

I have a friend who is a minister in CoS and the congregation love her husband!

  1. Give him 'Bake' by Rachel Allen

Grin

Point 4 is of equal importance to the Vicars, the Vicar Spice (and in my case, it seems, the 17 yo Vicars DD.
