Hello blender
When were you sectioned?

StripesandWings · 12/07/2018 18:05

Thank you for the thread!

Were friends or family involved in getting you sectioned?

Were you angry with them at the time?
How do you feel about it/them now?

Brendatheblender · 12/07/2018 18:05

Only last week, it’s all still very raw so please be gentle.

I’m in a totally different frame of mind now and have had brilliant support from the police and local mental health team.

stripes yes my DP called the police who detained me under section 136. He did what he thought was best and it was. So no bad feelings there. I feel bad that he had to see what he did. He doesn’t cry often but when I was placed in the secure unit, he was in bits Sad

Hi OP. Why did your DP call the police?

Re: your username - I'm watching that episode at the moment with my toddler Grin

JustBeenNosey · 12/07/2018 18:10

Can I ask why you were sectioned? I understand you said it was raw but I'm suffering alone with my depression at the moment.. have self harmed and just have thoughts of bad things happening to me

Brendatheblender · 12/07/2018 18:12

lost I drove off into the countryside and sent goodbye messages to my DP, I was so very suicidal and just wanted to end everything, especially the overwhelming thoughts of ending my life.

Sorry to hear that you are going through a tough time just have you contacted your local crisis team?

Brendatheblender · 12/07/2018 18:13

The police found me (I have no idea how) I was literally in the back of beyond and detained me there.

Thank you Brenda, I have never done this for a loved one but have wondered if I might have to and it had haunted me rather that it might ruin our relationship.

It sounds like you have had a really tough time. I'm glad mental health services and police were a good source of support in your case.

Flowers to you Andrew Nosey

JustBeenNosey · 12/07/2018 18:16

I don't know who my local crisis team are to be honest..
I just, feel, terrible.
It's so hard to explain 😔😔

StripesandWings · 12/07/2018 18:16

Flowers to you and Nosey Blush

Brendatheblender · 12/07/2018 18:22

stripes I know it came from a good place and he loves me a lot. I wouldn’t hesitate if someone I loved clearly needed some sort of intervention and help x

just please google your local mental health team, they should have a crisis team number who will be happy to help you, please feel free to DM me if you want to chat. I’m far from “fixed” but have a good knowledge of the mental health system x

You can’t access a crisis team like that- you need to be referred by your gp; a&e or hospital ward.

If in crisis out of hours and you are not under the mental health team there are psychiatric liaison teams in a&e who can see you

Brendatheblender · 12/07/2018 18:28

where Sorry I didn’t know that, I have been under the crisis team for so long that I am just able to call them whenever they are needed.

OP posts:
Greenglassteacup · 12/07/2018 18:34

Anyone can call the crisis team if they’re feeling like they are going to end their life or they have a relative who they think is at imminent risk. You don’t need to be referred by a GP, unlike the community mental health team or other secondary care services like psychological therapies

Greenglassteacup · 12/07/2018 18:35

Hi Brenda. Hope you’re getting the help and support you need CakeBrew

Brendatheblender · 12/07/2018 18:38

Thank you green one crisis team member has been particular helpful and has referred me to places that I didn’t even know existed! I am starting to light at the end of a very long, and dark tunnel

Thank you stripes!

And thank you OP.. I don't know how to DM on here 🙈 I'm bloody useless

Greenglassteacup · 12/07/2018 18:40

That’s good to hear Brenda, wish you all the best Flowers

UpOnDown · 12/07/2018 18:42

I’m on a section 3 at the moment.

Wheretheresawill1 · 12/07/2018 18:55

Green glass teacup I work on a crisis team!

Greenglassteacup · 12/07/2018 19:01

Grin well maybe it’s different across different regions because the crisis team will accept calls 24 hours here from people in crisis. I don’t work in the crisis team, I’m a mental health professional though.

JustBeenNosey · 13/07/2018 20:09

Brenda I went to my GP this morning and told him I had self harmed and the thoughts I have been having.. not necessarily to end my life but wishes that I would be hurt by someone or something else in a bad way (for example on my way home from work on the motorway, wishing someone would crash in to me) and he gave me a weeks worth of citalopram and booked me in to go back next Friday.
I haven't been on any anti depressants since 21st March after been weaned off them and I really don't know whether or not I want to take them again🙄😩🙈🤔

Brendatheblender · 13/07/2018 21:00

Really pleased to hear that you have been to see your GP just

Personally, I would take the citalopram, even if they just take the edge off, it’s better than nothing. Did your GP mention your local crisis team and/or talking therapies?

Be easy on yourself Flowers
