What Mumsnet users say

Our verdict

If you’re weighing up a new mattress - and trying to spend smart - the Simba Hybrid Pro sits in that tempting “premium but not ultra-premium” bracket. It’s the kind of mattress that makes you look forward to bedtime - and if you prefer a gentle, cushioned surface that isn’t too bouncy, it hits the sweet spot.

Our tester, Natasha, found lower-back relief compared with her partner’s older Tempur and praised the calm, undisturbed feel when sharing. She found that temperature stayed neutral through warmer nights and into autumn, and the washable cover is a genuinely helpful touch for family life. We also rate it best for back pain in our best mattress guide, thanks to its medium-firm feel and dual Aerocoil layers.

The catches? Weight (you’ll need another pair of hands for rotations), a slightly fiddly zip in tight frames and a premium price tag. Still, with a 200-night trial, a 10-year guarantee and bundled bedding, it earns its keep for side or combination sleepers who run warm on memory foam.

How we’ve tested Simba’s Hybrid Pro mattress

Mumsnet’s Senior Content Editor, Natasha, slept on the Hybrid Pro for six months in her own home. She’s a combination back/side sleeper who naturally runs a touch warm and at thirty-something, sometimes gets lower-back niggles. Coming from a basic rented-flat mattress with a cheap topper, she prefers a medium-firm feel.

Over the test period, she looked at comfort and alignment (especially hips, shoulders and lumbar), motion isolation with her partner, temperature through warmer and cooler nights, edge stability, cover quality and washability, bounce-back bounce/expansion, rotation and overall value given the guarantee and freebies.

Does the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress perform?

From night one, performance impressed Natasha. “Overall it performed excellently - it’s without a doubt the best mattress I’ve ever used!” Natasha told us, praising the way the springs “support my whole body, evenly distributing weight and keeping everything nicely aligned - especially around the lower back.”

She consistently woke with fewer aches than on her partner’s seven-year-old Tempur, and described the foam as “a lovely layer of cushioning and bounce - no mattress topper required!” This is unsurprising, though, as Natasha's tester feedback echoes its ranking as best for lumbar support in our back pain mattresses roundup.

For feel, it landed “not too soft, not too firm,” with reliability night after night and no dips or changes over six months.

My only real complaint is it makes getting out of bed in the morning extra difficult!

Is the Simba Hybrid Pro durable?

For Natasha, the mattress’ build quality is where the Pro justifies its premium badge. The knitted cover, in her words, “feels high quality,” and the zip-off top makes cleaning straightforward.

After the initial expansion period, depth and shape stayed true: “I don’t think it’s lost its shape,” she shares. There were no signs of sagging or indentations for Natasha, either, only “a touch of minor stretching around one part of the stitching,” which was “barely noticeable” and had no impact on comfort.

Edge support felt “nice and firm,” too, and the surface “bounced back right away.”

How easy is it to unbox and use the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress?

Unboxing is simple but does require some muscle. The mattress arrived rolled, and according to Natasha, getting it on the bed was “definitely a two-person job.” Expansion was quick though - “it inflated within six hours,” though Simba advises up to 72 hours to reach full shape - so unpacking earlier in the day helps.

The zip-off cover is handy but can be awkward to navigate in a tight bed frame, and it’s wash only (no tumble dry). Natasha shares that reattaching the zip is “slightly fiddly,” but takes under a minute. Finally, rotation every three months is recommended by Simba - in fact, Natasha appreciated Simba’s reminder emails.

Caring for the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress: top tips

Open carefully along the marked film and allow at least six hours before sleeping on it (up to 72 hours for full shape). Expect a short settling‑in period, though our tester was comfortable straight away. Rotate every three months using the side handles - it’s a two‑person job - and wash the zip‑off cover when needed, bearing in mind it can’t be tumble‑dried.

Is the Simba Hybrid Pro good value for money?

This is a premium mattress, and Natasha doesn’t sugar-coat it: “It’s definitely at the premium end of the scale,” but the feature set, comfort and support make it feel like fair value, especially with a 10-year guarantee.

She’d recommend it to anyone who likes a medium-firm feel and lasting support, particularly side or combination sleepers, while noting it “may not suit those who prefer a softer, sink-in style… or those on a tighter budget.”

On long-term maths, her tested double (£1,199 at the time) worked out at “just £120 per year.”

Simba says it can take up to 30 days to get used to a new mattress, but to be honest I found it comfy from the get go and adjusted to it quickly.

Natasha Gregson, Senior Content Editor at Mumsnet

How comfortable is the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress?

Comfort was immediate, Natasha notes: “Whether I’m on my side or my back, it feels very comfy - supportive without being too firm, and soft enough to sink into a little.” That balance held up during testing, delivering the medium-firm feel she prefers: “cushioned enough to feel comfy but still supportive, without feeling like I’m sinking in too far.”

Crucially, lower-back niggles eased and morning aches were rare, Natasha reports. For back and side sleepers, alignment at the shoulders and hips felt dialled in.

Is the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress good at regulating temperature?

The Pro kept a neutral temperature across seasons, according to Natasha. She doesn’t always struggle with overheating, but still noticed that she had zero sweaty wake-ups: “I haven’t noticed any nights where I’ve woken up sweaty.” The surface felt “pleasantly neutral” - not chilly, not warm - and remained comfortable through warmer spells and “chilly autumn nights”, with an overall sense of breathability and lightness.

Is there motion isolation with the Simba Hybrid Pro?

Sharing the bed, movement was well controlled. “I’ve noticed very little movement on my side, even when my partner gets up in the middle of the night,” she said, adding that her partner slept through her early or broken wake-ups.

The mattress felt sturdy without bounce when someone sat on the edge, and the Aerocoil® layers appeared to do their motion‑damping job.

Any health and safety concerns with Simba’s Hybrid Pro?

There was no noticeable off‑gassing on opening - Simba says any odour can last up to 24 hours - and Natasha didn’t experience any allergy or respiratory issues.

She also noted Simba’s claim that foams in the Hybrid Pro meet CertiPUR® requirements, which excludes heavy metals like mercury or lead.

Simba Hybrid Pro mattress review - what’s the bottom line?

If you like a medium‑firm feel with a cushioned top, the Simba Hybrid Pro is a strong all‑rounder. Two layers of Aerocoil® microsprings add responsive lift, while graphite‑infused foam and a breathable wool layer mean it stays a neutral temperature rather than getting hot. In our editor’s six‑month test it felt supportive for back and side sleeping, with noticeably less morning stiffness. Downsides are the premium price and the weight when you need to rotate it, but the 200‑night trial and 10‑year guarantee make it less of a risk.

Simba reviews: what do people say about Simba mattresses generally?

Feedback on Simba mattresses often highlights a balanced “hug without the sink,” reliable motion isolation for couples and a cooler sleep than old‑school memory foam. Customers tend to praise the removable, washable covers and consistent edge support on newer models. Gripes usually centre on weight (rotations are a two‑person job) and firm pricing outside of sale periods.

If you’re on the fence, the long home trial across the range - including the Hybrid, Hybrid Pro, Luxe and Ultra - lets you test comfort in your own bedroom rather than a showroom.

Which Simba mattress is best?

It depends on budget and feel. The Hybrid Essential is the most affordable entry, slimmer and lighter with core Aerocoil® comfort. The Hybrid is the bestselling mid‑ranger with extra‑deep foam and nine‑zone support. The Hybrid Pro adds a second Aerocoil® layer and breathable wool for a plusher, cooler surface. Luxe turns the dial towards plushness with bamboo‑infused wool and more springs, while Ultra is the brand’s “everything” option with FusionCool™ and the highest spring count. Most families will find the Pro or standard Hybrid the best value‑to‑comfort mix.

Are Simba mattresses worth it?

If you value cooler sleep, washable covers and a balanced feel that doesn’t bottom‑out or swallow you, Simba’s hybrids earn their reputation. The brand’s design puts microsprings near the surface for comfort and airflow, backed by a long home trial and a 10‑year guarantee. You’ll pay more than many box‑mattress rivals, and they’re heavy to move, but daily comfort and durability can justify the cost over a decade. Watch for bundle offers that add pillows, duvets and protectors to improve value.

We've had a Simba for [four] years, still lovely and firm, and sooooooo comfortable. Best mattress I've ever owned.

Do they make a Simba super king mattress?

Yes - Simba mattresses are typically available in UK sizes up to super king. If you’re choosing between king and super king, consider your room layout, door/stair access for delivery and rotating and whether you co‑sleep with kids or a pet. The bigger size gives each sleeper more shoulder and elbow room, which can reduce nighttime disturbances. Depth varies by model (20 to 34cm), so check your fitted sheets and bed frame clearance, especially with footboards.

What is a hybrid bed - and is the Simba Hybrid Pro a good example?

A hybrid bed pairs foam layers for pressure relief with springs for breathability and support. The Simba Hybrid Pro is a textbook hybrid: graphite‑infused Simbatex® foam provides cushioning, while Aerocoil® microsprings add responsive lift and airflow near the surface; deeper support springs target hips and shoulders. The result is a medium‑firm, gently buoyant feel that suits most back and side sleepers and keeps a steadier temperature than traditional memory foam.
