How comfortable is the Maxi-Cosi Oxford Premium Bundle?
If you’re using the pushchair from newborn, the carrycot comes with a reversible padded mattress to help your little one feel more cosy, plus it has ventilation windows to ensure good airflow. The cover and canopy keep your baby warm and protected whatever the weather.
The toddler seat also has a cushioned inlay, which is made from soft high-density foam, and it can be reclined in three positions, from flat to upright, with an adjustable leg rest. The UPF50+ canopy is extendable, with a peekaboo ventilation window and a sun visor to provide good coverage during nap times on sunny days.
Mirain says: “I was really impressed that the pushchair adjusts to a lie-flat position. We’ve had many day naps on the go and the large sun canopy is great at darkening the inside of the pushchair for day naps. The upright setting is handy for them to be able to see and enjoy walks but also, I’ve used the pushchair when at cafes with no available highchairs.”
For parents, the leather handlebar and five height settings offer a comfortable push. “The handle of the pushchair is adjustable, therefore there was no need to bend or stoop. For a tall person like myself, the handles lift higher to suit my height, whilst for a shorter person such as my mother, she preferred the handles down lower.”
The Pebble 360 Pro car seat comes with a comfortable Baby-Hugg inlay for newborns and the headrest can be adjusted so your baby is safely fitted. It has a UV protective canopy for protecting your baby from the sun and has been designed with ventilation panels, breathable foam and mesh fabric to ensure air circulation. Mirain says: “Our six-month-old has always liked the car seat. It’s easily adjusted for different heights, it has inserts to suit different ages. It has two recline positions which are useful, and I like that the recline position handle is similar to the pushchair’s handle. It is familiar and easy to use.”
What is the Maxi-Cosi Oxford Premium Bundle like to use day-to-day?
The Oxford’s four wheels tackle most terrains well so this pushchair can be used for everything from nipping out to the shops, school runs, park visits and getting in and off public transport. It’s easy to steer, with a comfortable, adjustable handle that’s suitable for all heights and is compact enough to fit through doorways. While the suspension provides a smooth ride most of the time, Mirain did struggle with bumpier ground.
She says: “This was one of the weaker points about the pushchair. I don’t feel like it’s easy to bump the buggy up a curb and it sometimes gets stuck on bumps in the road on uneven terrains. Cobbles and rough city pavements can be difficult to manoeuvre with this pushchair compared with some all-terrain prams with air-filled tyres. It requires two hands to handle rough terrain.”
You won’t need to pack light — the Oxford’s spacious storage basket holds up to 10kg, offering more than enough room for daily outings. Mirain says: “The basket is excellent. It’s wide, deep and works well with the seat, carrycot or car seat attached. Perfect for day trips with kids.” She also noted a hidden magnetic pocket behind the seat that could come in handy for small items like nappies or paperwork — though she hasn’t used it herself yet.
The seat can be positioned world- or parent-facing, and switching between the seat, carrycot, or car seat is quick and simple. “I’ve used the car seat on the pushchair for errands — everything clicks in easily and feels really secure. You can face it towards or away from you, which is great,” Mirain explains.
That said, there was a learning curve with the Pebble 360 car seat and ISOFIX base. “It took a little time to get used to positioning the car seat correctly on the base. It’s much easier now, but just a heads-up — if you have another rotating car seat in the car, they might bump into each other. I have a medium SUV and they still clash slightly in the middle when swivelling,” she adds.
