How we tested

Levoit 20dB Quiet Pedestal Fan: our verdict

Performance: 14/15

Quality and durability: 14/15

Ease of use: 15/15

Value for money: 12/15

Noise levels: 10/10

Style: 10/10

Controls: 9/10

Range of modes: 10/10

Total: 94/100

With a sleek, chunky yet minimalist design, this fan looks great in any room. Hannah found it really easy to set up, and the controls on the remote self explanatory - "there aren't too many buttons, so you can just tap until you get what you want."

It cools the rooms in Hannah's flat effectively, and is quiet enough to run at night on the lower settings. What's more, the remote control lets you adjust the fan speed from your bed.

While some fans are height adjustable to a telescopic stand, this one has a central piece that can be removed to make the fan shorter. This isn't the most convenient design, and you have to store the removable piece when not in use. However, it does mean the fan can sit on a table, desk or bedside table, making it that bit more versatile than a straight pedestal fan.

One other small criticism is that at 5.8kg the fan is quite heavy, so it takes a bit of effort to move it from room to room.

All in all though, Hannah found this fan stylish, effective and quiet - everything you'd look for in a reliable fan for heatwaves.

Levoit 20dB Quiet Pedestal Fan

Is the Levoit 20dB Quiet Pedestal Fan quiet enough to use at night?

Powered with a DC motor, the fan is very quiet - just 20dB on its lowest setting. For context, a whisper is about 25dB, so this fan is literally whisper-quiet. There are four modes - including sleep mode which dims the LED display - and 12 fan speed settings, so you can tailor the breeze to your liking.

It also oscillates both vertically and horizontally, effectively cooling your whole room. If you prefer a jet of cool air directed at you, you can also turn off oscillation.

Does the Levoit 20dB Quiet Pedestal Fan offer good value for money?

At £120, this fan isn't cheap, but it is excellent value for such a high-spec design. It comes with a remote control, multiple modes and quiet operation - all features you'll find on much more expensive fans like the Meaco Sefte Pedestal Fan, which retails for £180.

Levoit have an equally quiet tower fan with an RRP of £90, which is definitely worth a look. But we think the pedestal fan is a lot more stylish, and its two height options make it that bit more versatile, too.
