Gender critical age ranges

Just curious what the general age range here. I'm 31 and I'm gender critical. But there seems to be a belief that all gender critical people are much older such as 50's and later. I know that's not necessarily true, there's nothing wrong with being an experienced person after all! But I am feeling curious. Probably doesn't help that I haven't met any in person.

No need to give exact age of you are not comfortable. You can just say late 20's or early 40's if you would like.

So what is the general age range here or of curiosity?

Late forties, would have been of the same opinion at any age. My two teens also think gender woo is total bollocks.

Demonto · 15/01/2023 20:18

Early 40s, mates and husband in their 30s all think it's bollocks (no pun intended Grin)

I'm 44. My dsd and DD's are 30, 19 and 16 and all GC too.

Kucinghitam · 15/01/2023 20:05

Late 40s, but I've always been critical of gender roles and never gave an iota of credence to any of the pseudoscientific (but actually religious) guff. However, I was BeKind until maybe 5-6 years ago, when it gradually dawned on me that this was a wholesale takeover of women's sex-based rights.

SantaCarlaCalifornia · 15/01/2023 20:04

Early 40s now but got radicalised by MN about this 6 or so years ago when I would have been mid-30s.

Late 30s here. Fully signed up gender critic with two degrees in Women's Studies. 🙂 I'm sporty, so I'm particularly pissed off with what's been happening in the competitive sports field the last few years.

Late 40's, DD(14), DSD(22), DM(70) and DIL(30) all think gender ideology is a crock of shit, as does literally everyone else I've ever talked to about it, although that's admittedly only a handful of people.

V much my experience.

Though I talk much more around the issues now as there's so many angles it's often relevant - prisons, pshe, sport is massive, safeguarding (a new LGBT youth group was mooted near us and I felt I could question the age range), schools and social contagion, health care ..I v much work from the angle of "I'm a feminist.." and centering women and girls.

Places like my book group which is all female but a wide range of ages and backgrounds and including lesbians - everyone is GC. My younger workplace L/B colleagues were among the first to make me analyse "be kind" by telling me about how they felt about Stonewall, and the previously Lesbian nights at the local gay club being aggressively colonised...

My mum is very supportive and protective of a T person close to us and saw everything through their lens, until I pointed out how damaging the current demands and behaviours are to them and their choices and options (they are not in any way a TRA). She's in her 70s and once I talked about DD's sports and safety she got it and she sees now a lot of what I foretold re Mermaids etc has come to pass and she's aware enough to really think now.

I’m late 30s, DH late 40s, Dad is 70 and raging about the world having gone mad, DSS and his mates are young teens and feel similar. We talk about it quite a bit as DSS is baffled by some of the bs he’s hearing at school and likes to offload. We’ve all been to Posie’s meet ups and I’ve done sort volunteering for a different organisation in the area.

Late 40s. Haven't ever changed my mind on this though, I think the same as I always did. Other people have recently come to the conclusion that they think people can change sex for some reason.

Francesgumm · 15/01/2023 19:32

Mid 50’s

MorvenOfMalvern · 15/01/2023 19:31

I barely know anyone who isn't GC tbh. All ages, backgrounds, both sexes, professionals, levels of education....

The ones who are TWAW are of a much narrower bracket and v much fit a 'type' or 2 - green/blue coloured hair, virtue-signalling younger person or middle aged beardy woke bro who at heart is sure they're right because they're a man. I've had the occasional colleague give off "be kind" vibes in a way that shows they've barely considered the issues, a couple who've used words like c*s but apologised when I've rejected it and explained it's offensive.

My wider family are in almost unanimous GC agreement from teen cousins to great grandma. The occasional male raises an eyebrow and judges but they're v much in the minority.

For all the noise on Twitter, no one ACTUALLY thinks TWAW whatever age they are.

I'm 30s. I know several twenty-somethings who think it's bullshit but don't want the harassment from speaking out about it.

Oh yes I feel that. I want to say something all the time but I'm not in a time or place in my life where I am empowered to speak offline about it sadly so mumsnet is my only outlet at the moment for these feelings. 🥲

I'm 51. I wouldn't have believed men could become women at any age.

Exactly this

Clariana · 15/01/2023 19:21

I'm mid 50s, but I know GC people from 16 to 92!

Scooopsahoy · 15/01/2023 19:19

Early forties. My impression from my workplace - if stating pronouns on email signatures is any guide! - is that those forty plus are gender critical, those under forty are not. But with some exceptions both ways.

Cheekymaw · 15/01/2023 19:09

52 . Have older teen and early twenties children who are very gender critical and of the firmly left wing persuasion.

BringerOfDoom · 15/01/2023 19:05

Babdoc · 15/01/2023 18:53

I’m 67, an old 1970s radfem and retired doctor.
My 33 year old DD is also a fully paid up terf - she runs the Gender Critical Autistics group on FB. I am also autistic, and would never have fallen for the TWAW gaslighting even when young, as I was very into science and logic as a teen.

I wouldn't say I fell for t
TWAW but I saw it as is own ideology kind of thing and thought if that's how they want to live their lives no one should be unkind to them as it's their choice. Although at the time it was mostly adults that were trans and I didn't know anything about children medically transitioning of it was happening at all when I was a teen.

I thought people were just being mean because they didn't like that they think differently. There was also the mistake I made thinking there were very few of them.

However it grew became a trend then the nonbinary stuff started and I thought that was really questionable and then blew out of proportion and then they started trying to claim they were literally women and I was just 🤯😱🤦🏻‍♀️

So yeah now here we are! 🤷🏻‍♀️
