Gender critical age ranges

Just curious what the general age range here. I'm 31 and I'm gender critical. But there seems to be a belief that all gender critical people are much older such as 50's and later. I know that's not necessarily true, there's nothing wrong with being an experienced person after all! But I am feeling curious. Probably doesn't help that I haven't met any in person.

No need to give exact age of you are not comfortable. You can just say late 20's or early 40's if you would like.

So what is the general age range here or of curiosity?

50s here but 31 year old DD, who works in the charity sector in Children’s services and deals with very vulnerable children, has been GC since she became aware of this debate, 4 years ago. The vast majority of her friends are GC too.

piedbeauty · 17/01/2023 17:44

50 here. Ds 16 and dd 19 think the same as me.

Justsurfing · 17/01/2023 16:47

RinklyRomaine · 17/01/2023 15:59
  1. DD is 13, cousin 60, niece 23. All think similarly.
Rheia1983 · 17/01/2023 15:52
  1. Radicalized by Mumsnet after I started seeing papers like the NYT and the Washington Post smear JKR as a transphobe and fell down the rabbit hole of wanting to know what the hell was going on.

Mid 40s with a degree in Biology, working in a male-dominated STEM environment.

Old enough to recall "I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body!" being a silly joke from Lad Mags era 1990s.

Also used to hearing lesbians referred to as "todger dogers". Not meant to be derogatory, just bluntly accurate.

TheHarpySings · 17/01/2023 14:46

Early 40s. Been GC for about 10 years

I'm 52 and never thought that people could actually change sex. I was of the opinion that they were small in number and unproblematic, why not make accommodations?

Five years ago, I was trying to find a sport / physical activity my daughter would enjoy, so had a look online. "Don't bother, Rachel McKinnon!" and similar stories were the first result. I then found out about the other things, predators in toilets, prisons and other places where women may be vulnerable.

All the extremist zealots shouting women down, attacking them with impunity, as Police looked on, the vile threats online. I realised very quickly who was in the right.

‘Terfs’ not terms

DrDinosaur · 17/01/2023 14:29

I’m 60.
I have never thought TWAW, but when I was younger I thought of the as victims of the patriarchy, and that transsexuals would sort of die out as men were raised with less restricting stereotypes of what a man should be.
That was before I understood autogynephilia.

Five or six years ago my family all thought I was mad when I started going on about this. Now they’re all as terfy as me, including my daughter, late 30s. Younger family members, teens and 20s, are terms as well, but the university students won’t talk about it there.

I am very open about my views in real life - I have NEVER encountered anyone who disagreed with me. (I do live in a rural, Tory and Brexit voting area, I appreciate its different in Brighton).

AnnaTortoiseshell · 16/01/2023 20:47

Early 30s. I know a good few people my age who feel the same, but I don’t broach the subject very often as I did once with a close friend and it didn’t go well. My family members and family friends my DPs’ are all GC. I think there are a lot more GC people than you’d think.

MrsKrankyPants · 16/01/2023 20:42

Early 40's

KohlaParasaurus · 16/01/2023 20:38

Late 50s. My children aged 26-32 are all GC (a younger one isn't) and so are my parents and surviving aunties, all in their eighties.

There's a lot here that are in their 30s. Heartening to see.

I know. This makes me very happy. I confess I felt a bit worried that I was the only one in my age group feeling this way.
