I read this essay while I was waiting in audience to see Nish Kumar this evening.

Predictably he did a bit in second half about his JKR has lost her marbles and made the world worse by supporting the Supreme Court ruling. He referenced the photo with the cigar too.

All I could think was there is no way he will read that essay and see the thought and compassion in it. He’s made up his mind about which side is right and won’t listen to anything else. He spoke in another section about progressives needing to be a broad church and welcoming diversity of ideas. But there’s no way he will engage with that essay and what she really thinks and why.

Anyway JKR is my queen. Excellent update to her essay. Bravo to her xxx

I'm still cackling at the ahistorical ignorance of anyone who believed the twat that told her Winston Churchill ever would have said "I love it when a plan comes together" 😂

What he might have said? A reference to Robbie Burns, followed by something about national pride, British stoicism and superior intelligence. He may have celebrated a plan brilliant in its conception and meticulous in its execution.

Not emotional shorthand! Do you never think to question what your ideological pundits tell you?

She’s brilliant, her essay today was perfect. I particularly loved the reference to class, pointing out that so many of the women who have championed this anti-woman movement have absolutely no skin in the game.

it would have been so easy for her to just back away from standing up for women, but she never faltered

The difference is there is a social association of trans to women. Churchill v the nazis as opposed to JKR V loo etiquette not so much.
