If you admire it, then at least have the decency to acknowledge the author.

But really, despite all that verbiage, the bottom line is that JKR thinks women have the right to singles sex spaces and protection in law and has said so.

It must be galling that she can’t be silenced by the rape and death threats, or forced into accepting TWAW, and has enough cultural and financial capital to keep on supporting and promoting women’s rights and stating the bleeding obvious that TWAreNotW.

If you admire it, then at least have the decency to acknowledge the author.

The quote is from X so I don't know that the author's tag name wants to be promoted on Mumsnet. Its upto people who want to know to go & find out for themselves which they have.

That wasn't the point of the commentary but feel free to take from it whatever doesn't challenge your world view.

I already like Julie, mate.

I have thought about how this will be portrayed in future text books;

In the early 21st century, individualisation and capitalism collided. As a result of 20th-century human rights movements, the main issues of discrimination in society were on a path to resolution. This resulted in human rights activists and organisations with little purpose and rising costs.

A solution was found to increase the breadth of the previous causes. Disability charities widened the definition of atypical neurological presentation and developed a new term - neurodivergence so inclusive that everyone could be involved. Women's rights were expanded to include disability caused by menopause and an unquantifiable "pay-gap". The biggest expansion: Lesbian and Gay rights found a way to include the most lucrative of recruits; insecure adolescents with body image issues and wealthy middle-aged men, by telling them their fetish was a healthy and normal state of being.

You could throw in
"In the 1920s, philosophers incl Marcuse felt that the class element of Marxism needed to be extended beyond pure economics to include all aspects of culture, to create multiple definitions of the oppressed class. In the 1960s, philosophers incl Foucault popularized the theory that language was a weapon (words are violence) used by the ruling class, yet could be used to reorder reality by establishing that the language used by oppressed peoples created their reality, not top down so-called objective realities, especially in the areas of race and colonialism.
In the 1990s, philosophers like Butler took this further re gender to state that biological sex was but one measure of gender, internal feelings mattered more, and the world would need to adjust around every individuals assessment of their gender expression.
Yet instead of any pushback to these theories, the broad swath of European academia absorbed this, the theories migrated to American universities, and in time, the whole of civic society in the West transformed from the classical Enlightenment model of rights based on objective reality to rights based on internal feelings, and a spectrum of intersecting and conflicting worldviews".

@CoolforKats Hmmm, so you don’t have a problem with JKR stating her support for women’s rights, and you can’t accuse her of being anti-trans, so you’ve decided to bolster ‘your’ argument and disregard the subject of this thread by bringing in another well-kent women’s rights activist who isn’t scared of being cancelled …

If this was a post about Julie Blindel then fine, have a go. Otherwise 5/10 for effort, 1/10 for effectiveness.

I don't need to accuse her of being anti trans when its self evident she is.

And if you were able to follow the thread you might understand why the Bindel quote was relevant but I doubt it.

What makes her ‘anti trans’?

Sorry its not in the gender critical 'skill set' to comprehend.

No. It just doesn’t exist. There is transphobia.

Can you explain what transphobia is then?

Go look it up, I'm not here to be your personal dictionary.

JamesKirkupReviewWritersFund · Yesterday 11:00

are you Kylie Maree @CoolforKats? IF not, why doesn’t Kylie benefit from your protective actions of not exposing their name to MN which you proudly did for the Great Writer of Screeds?

I know what the definition is, I'm just finding it hard to work out what you think is transphobic at JKR's essays. Is it more of I know what she said is 'this' but what she means is 'that'?

loiuy · Yesterday 11:06

JollySmall · Yesterday 10:52

Can you explain what transphobia is then?

they can never explain it. They ever even try to.
They can’t explain it in the context of JKR’s essays and posts on X because she hasn’t written anything that isn’t factual and correct. And she’s never posted anything transphobic.

Well, where’s your evidence of her anti-trans views?

And on what basis do you challenge my understanding of this thread and the comments on it?

murasaki · Yesterday 11:15

Given practically everything is transphobic at the moment, it means nothing. It's the death rattle of someone losing an argument.

TheKeatingFive · Yesterday 11:22

The way not to be ‘transphobic’ is to pretend men can become women and affirm that at every given opportunity. So basically that makes nature itself ‘transphobic’. That’s what we’re up against here 🙄

You don't seem to be able to put a lot of what you believe into your own words.

Do you actually understand any of it, or are you only comfortable repeating other people and deflecting questions?

I think the answer to that is evident on this thread...

DeanElderberry · Yesterday 14:59

I was away for a week, and reading all the threads on FWR it seems I missed:

'JKR's personal views' = 'Rowling's movement';

transphobia cannot be defined;

irrational fear of francophone women has always existed;

'genitals!'.

anything actually original?

DeanElderberry · Yesterday 15:18

Oh darn, any link?

I also missed, from just before my connection to the outside world went down, the solemn listing of definitions of gender terminology, which were the equivalent of listing the Catholic catechism on Transubstantiation or Luther on Sola fide - justification by faith alone.

Absolutely critical and important for believers, not at all for non believers.

It's on this very thread, starts around page 4 or so. But worth reading the whole thread!
