Didn't Black Grape sing about Churchill being a Black Man, or Batman or something?

Jesus was a black man
No, Jesus was Batman 🎶

'No, that was Bruce Wayne!'

PituitaryPippa · 22/10/2026 08:37

What an absolute goddess! I would love to share that on Facebook but I’m reluctant to do so because of the backlash from some “friends” who have trans children and are extremely vocal on the subject. I’m also still in a probationary period in a new role and have some work friends on there so am nervous it could be viewed negatively. I really wish I could be braver!!

So what's the 'update'?

JKR is very angry. She's especially angry with women who won't agree with her that trans people are a danger. She thinks these women must live in an elite bubble where violence never happens.

Or maybe, just maybe they live in the real world not a castle & never noticed a dangerous trans woman.

Yes indeed Joanne, experience does shape one's perceptions.

Edited

You mistake the direction of her anger.

Her anger is towards women who think they have any right to speak for other women.

A woman who has never felt threatened by the possibility of male genitals in their changing rooms has no right to say that other women should not feel the fear they do.

And they are no kind of feminist if they invite men into those spaces or encourage men to continue to fight to get into those spaces.

You also miss entirely the point that once one person with male genitals is legally entitled to use a female only space NO man can be kept out. And some of those most definitely have bad intentions.

GreyskySexRealistsky · 22/10/2026 08:44

I'm so glad you reposted this tweet (which you've misunderstood) because the comments are absolute gold too

That I initially linked the wrong quote doesn't change the fact JKR compared herself to Churchill & none of your deflections will change that.

Nice to see you admit your error.

Also, women ho have never felt threatened by men should not be putting themselves or any other woman never threatened by men into a situation that IS an actual threat.

We shouldn't be having to disclose 'I can't do that because...' it should be 'we don't allow that because we know that men as a class are a threat to women as a class and that's safeguarding 101'.

Soontobe60 · 22/10/2026 08:50

CoolforKats · 21/10/2026 23:30

The point you are missing is we don't fear all men the same. Being alone with a old man or gay man or well dressed man or trans woman doesn't inspire the fear in people on the ground hence the support of trans women.

JKR's generalisations about men don't work in reality when it comes to personal experiences. Context matters.

See, you’ve grouped transwomen in with other men too - even you know TWAM!

nine0five · 22/10/2026 08:51

I never used to pay much attention to Rowling, though of course I was aware of her on the cultural landscape. I have TRAs to thank for finally getting me to sit up and take notice. All I can say is: thank you, TRAs. Without you I don't think I ever would have learned about all the wonderful things she's done. This doesn't make her a hero of mine, but it does make her perhaps the only billionaire's I'm aware of who has been an unmitigated force for good.

Datun · 22/10/2026 08:52

It really is the most baffling of all arguments to say that the only men who should be allowed in women's spaces are those who really, really want to and refuse to take no for an answer.

Same. I was aware of the books when they came out but didn't take much interest because they were for kids.

Then she began speaking out on women's rights and I took notice

Soontobe60 · 22/10/2026 08:57

CoolforKats · 21/10/2026 23:56

I never dismissed any such thing. I'm simply explaining that conclusions reached from personal experiences works both ways & as such JKR doesn't understand the inconsistency of her own position.

I have no personal experience of jumping out of a plane without a parachute, but I know that it’s an incredibly dangerous thing to do and will likely lead to instant death.
Similarly, I have no personal experience of being incarcerated in prison, but I also know that putting men in women’s prisons - especially the rapey, violent type of men - is a massive risk for those women who cannot get away from such men.
In both cases, there is enough evidence out there to show both things are harmful. It’s never going to happen to me, but I care enough about other women to support single sex spaces in lots of circumstances.

Astonishing.

Its as if every iota of common sense, all their understanding of safeguarding and decency just fell out of their heads.

I have lost so much respect for so many people over this.

Soontobe60 · 22/10/2026 09:07

CoolforKats · 22/10/2026 00:21

Because the generalisation smears all trans people as a threat. Using a minority group to represent the majority is hateful. Just ask muslims who get smeared as terrorists or Jews who get smeared as degenerate globalists or black people that get smeared s criminals.

Muslims, Jews and Black people as you so eloquently put it are not pretending to be something they are not. Men pretending to be women are. We’re just supposed to believe that men pretending to be women are less of a potential danger than other men. DOJ statistics on men in prison - all men - show that men who pretend to be women are over represented in the prison estate in the category of violent offenders or sex offenders. Explain that if you will.

Soontobe60 · 22/10/2026 09:09

@CoolforKats
Do you believe all people of colour should be banned from public because of higher crime rates

Have you always been racist?

Which one? The farcical tale where JKR chases her own tail & all her sheeple pretend not to notice? 😂

You really, really hate JKR don’t you?

Real frothing hatred.

Perhaps you should calm down and ask yourself what makes you so terribly furious about an articulate woman expressing her views clearly.

Just catching up - someone thought the A Team reference was about Churchill 😂 I doubt I’ll read anything funnier today - high bar! But take that as a gauntlet thrown down, TRAs, the day is young and I have faith in you all!

nutmeg7 · 22/10/2026 09:19

CoolforKats · 21/10/2026 22:58

Ah no she directly compares herself to Churchill & says:

The thing is,
@IndiaWilloughby
, I really do enjoy cigars, whisky and facing down totalitarians, so by the same arguments that make you a woman, I am indeed Winston Churchill.

Oh dear.

Do you really think that she’s actually comparing herself to Churchill? And not simply taking the piss out of India W’s colossal
lack of comprehension and cultural references?

Are you from the UK? Do you have a sense of humour? Do you have trouble with nuance? Trouble understanding sarcasm?
