Feeling inadequate about my body because of the trans ideology

Starsandmoonlight1 · 16/10/2026 18:59

Hi everyone! It's my first post on this forum because I'm so desperate to find at least some support and to feel seen, I feel like I'm the only woman in world who has this issue and it's so distressing, and since this forum is one of few gender critical ones, I'm here.

I want to say in advance that I have nothing against trans people, I'm fully supportive of them, I think they're people that deserve love and help. But this doesn't align with my feelings about my body. I've always been a little different from other women. Not completely masculine but tall (5'8), fairly straight body type, with moderate body hair. Also I have tuberous breasts which make me feel like I'm not womanly enough because I want to have a child in future and I want to breastfeed but tuberous breasts can be an obstacle in longer breastfeeding. Those all features make me feel less womanly. And it's so upsetting. But what makes me even more self conscious and sad is that I share some common features with trans women. And it makes me so sad when people compare women like me and trans women who are biologically males. I feel like my womanhood is fragile, that I am not that different from a biological male that takes HRT. I'm so scared of voicing this opinion because people would go "why are tou disgusted by the fact that you abd trans women share similar features? Trans women are women!". But I'm gender critical. So for me it's actually all backwards. It's that the fact that a male can realistically change his body to look more like mine and my unconventional features being used to prove that trans women are real women too that makes me so distressed. To the point I actually don't consider i have breasts, even though they're moderately sized and noticeable, I just feel like I'm not me.

I'm sorry if I offended someone. I'm just so sad and upset about how i feel about my body. I hope at least one wan here feels the same. I don't feel seen at all and everything on the internet makes me feel bigoted. Thank you!

I'm sorry you've been made to feel bad about yourself and your body, OP.
It sounds like you have some repairing to do on your self-confidence and self- image.
You are a woman, so whatever way you look is 'how a woman looks'.
I hope you feel better for sharing, and can go away with positive ideas about how to be you, and be OK with that.

SilenceInside · 16/10/2026 20:39

@Starsandmoonlight1 I am not trying to suggest that you shouldn't have feelings, but I am pointing out the fact that those feelings are based on something that you don't even believe to be the case.

You are not helplessly in thrall to your emotions and feelings. Recognising that they are irrational and unhelpful is a starting point to changing how you feel. I presume you do want to feel better about yourself eventually?

BettyBooper · 16/10/2026 20:39

I know this may not go down well (tone-policing etc.), but... while we've a load of more cynical posters visiting, we're also one of the best (only?!) recourses of this kind for women who feel as OP describes - and there will be some out there.

It feels like a pity if our beloved interruptarons and screen-shot-hunters and derailers succeed in undermining support for the vulnerable newbie (or scaring off people sounding out GC thinking).

When I first read FWR, the patience, care and thought kind of blew me away - above all, though, it was the contrast between that and the sheer nastiness of "visitors" that converted me to the cause.

I know there's still no comparison between that nastiness and the (always wry!) well-deserved caution here. But I also wonder if, while it may be tempting to feel the joke's on us if we don't call Howszat!!! within a few posts, it may be even more on us if we lose what makes this place so fab in stressing we've not been taken in?

I don't give a shit what visiting TRAs think of me.

I do care about women who may be hurting because this ideology's taught them that appearance is what defines them.

And, yeah, I know we've all heard the "women are being mistaken for transwomen" line a thousand times before, but I'd honestly not actually thought of it from the angle OP describes before - kind of like an existential angst eating away at pre-existing insecurities about whether you're woman enough (cos now, of course, trans ideology says there's ways not to be, which simply wasn't a thing before). I mean, I'd read about masculine women in loos and thought about girls who don't like make-up, but somehow hadn't got to the logical extension of this ideology having the potential to really create or aggravate a kind of, well, dysphoria, perhaps, in adult women, too. I hope I'm not putting words in your mouth there, OP.

Yeah, so, maybe I'm naive in that and in the Pollyanna posting philosophy (except when my mask slips on a bad day and I get all sarky for a post or two - so maybe I'm a total hypocrite, too!)

Regardless, to OP - or those like OP - I'm sorry, and I'd second suggestions to get counselling, while taking care to ensure you reach out to someone who's not captured by the way of thinking that's making you hurt.

Edited

I agree that a space to discuss these things is important. And I don't doubt the issue exists.

I don't, however, think that this necessitates accepting whatever anyone says without question.

I am concerned that women on here who do have genuine issues with this are being exploited to tell their stories.

Anyway, it's clear what I think (I think). Look at OPs last post and note the tone shift.

Sounds pretty dismissive. I'm being sincere and kind and you're telling me "muh, get a job".

You're not being very kind about the trans people you described as trying to "crawl into the category of women". But even if you were being 'kind' and if this thread is 'sincere' (and I'm choosing to take it at face value), none of us is under an obligation to indulge your problems and tell you its a healthy or normal way to feel or behave. It's not. You do need to stop obsessing about trans people and the shape of your breasts. You should spend less time on whatever bits of the Internet are making you so upset and more time on working on your confidence and your wellbeing, including by getting therapy and a job. The devil makes work for idle hands and all that.

I'm taller than you OP and definitely not a curvy build. No one has ever suggested I look like a man. In fact the whole concept is utterly ridiculous 🙄

Also highly unlikely a man would have tuberous breasts. They would either be fairly flat or surgically enhanced, not long and thin.

Thou hast not visited the right part of the antipodean fruit farms.

Yes @BettyBooper I agree with you and I did note the tone of the last post.

I can see what you both mean re. tone. And yes, potential exploitation of vulnerable groups. We've seen a lot of that recently.

I'd always just rather be sure, and think there's more to be gained that way, long-term, than the other. And it's hard to be sure-sure - even there, I was prepared to wait a while.

But then - you guys were sure from the start, and goodness knows posters have been right to be enough times - and I know you could easily argue the opposite about pros and cons too, so 🤷‍♀️.

It's such a pity we have to think this way.

Whatever, though - the great and telling thing is, almost every single thread here becomes a pretty damn excellent argument for a need for GC feminism, whichever way it unravels (word chosen informedly, with an eye on many such!)

Wow, feelings don't always align with our logical mind. How novel.

I wrote my supportive post before I read this.
A very noticeable 'tone shift', as somebody else pointed out.
And were there earlier references to not be 'native', whether that meant 'of England' or 'speaker of English' wasn't clear, but this post shows quite an impressive ability to be rude in just two words!

But it doesn't put me off taking posters at face value - for me, the risk of putting down a woman who had in fact just plucked up the courage to speak is greater than the realisation that I've been had. Again.😏

I'm sorry to make anyone suspicious. I genuinely don't know what's going on and what are you talking about. I have big problems with self esteem and what i said was genuine. I'm not asking for anyone's specific story. I'm sorry if i made that impression. Anyone could just say "yes, i felt something similar" and I wouldn't feel alone. I'm not here for clout. Hell, idek if there are even posts like mine on the internet. The amount of times people mistook me for a man doesn't mean my feelings aren't valid. I apologise in front of all people that didn't dismiss what i said, I didn't have any malicious intent. And i apologise if i mistook this post too because it seems like language barrier is still strong for misunderstandings from me. I'm sorry.

It isn't.

This thread has turned very odd and the change of voice raises big suspicions, but the issue of women being mistaken for men is a real one.

No one specifically told me i look like one but certain features are called manly by people on the internet. I've seen tuberous breasts being compared to gynaecomastia. Let's say I don't feel very happy about that

Id be surprised if most people had even heard of these definitions, never mind describe them.

MarieDeGournay · 16/10/2026 21:29

Good luck to you if you are genuine, OP.
You lost me at 'how novel'.
Over and out!
