Yep, it's a good old DM article I'm afraid.

Being a man was too much hard work, so I became a woman: Inside the transmaxxing trend where men swap gender to get 'female' benefits like cheaper car insurance, free meals and sex | Daily Mail Online

I've not started a post in this section before, so apologies but I saw the headline and thought it would be one to share. "Transmaxxing" is a thing in incel culture and I know has been discussed here before. So yeah, being a woman is also now meaning you have failed at being a man 😡

Could a woman identify as a man, and then identify as a man identifying as a woman, in order to snag a high-value man and ensure an easy life?

If so, yes I would consider transmaxxing.

(No, of course I wouldn't, but there's nothing to stop me saying I would.)

Yes, that is called circumgender.

Did anyone fill in the online poll on the article?

Would you consider transmaxxing?

  • Yes
  • No
  • Not Sure

Trans identifying men used to regularly come up on my dating app calling themselves lesbians. Every single one of them would state they were not interested in men like themselves.

They won’t date each other.

Nothatgingerpirate · 26/02/2025 17:47

Bollocks.
I want that bollocks button 🔘 ✅
Good luck with the easier life 😂

Daleksatemyshed · 26/02/2025 17:47

You're confusing two issues here @offmynut , you couldn't get any help, not because of your sex but because you have no children. As someone whose childfree I've long seen that the benefits system is very much geared to being a parent.
As for the men who think women have an easier life - that's not about money, they're generally talking about sex and their perceptions that women can get sex any time they like. It says far more about some men's mindset that they think being able to get sex is the be all and end all

TempestTost · 26/02/2025 17:34

I always wonder to what degree people like this are taking the piss - it seems obvious that transitioning doesn't give easier access to sex.

We do know that giving concrete benefits does seem to be a pull - like the Apanish guys who declared themselves women to get an earlier retirement. I think this tells us we need to think carefully about differentiating certain things unless the reason is very concrete.

So maternity leave - yes, women only. But retirement? Maybe as a group you could say women are ready to retire earlier, but in truth it varies significantly, many men are needing to stop work when lots of women might still be quite able. So it causes resentment. I think that's true across differernt categories too.

There was a case in Canada a few years ago of a man changing his legal identity to be female in order to get cheaper car insurance. That discrimination is still legal in Canada, or was then, at any rate. As several PPs have said, it's not been legal here for years.

Really hard to see what other advantages they might gain from being female other than the usual: access to female-only spaces, which they might want for sexual reasons; getting places on female-only lists, such as "woman of the year", or filling the female quota on boards, which presumably only affects a minority; being thought "stunning and brave".

In other countries it might be a handy way of getting out of conscription. There was an interesting story a while ago about what was happening in Spain, with male soldiers changing legal sex to get some of the benefits accessible only to female soldiers:

Well you can get benefits housing cm being a single childless woman or man you dont get that help not even housing would help me because i was not a priority as i did not have a child i was offered a tent when i was homeless and i am a woman.
Womens aid said they cant help as they only really help women and children at this point hope that has changed now.
I was not allowed a grant as i was not a low income parent.
Luckly i have good friends and got back on my feet.

Being a single childless woman we are put in the same category as a single childless man.
You only have to google help for single mums and you get plenty of help.

But hold on you're proving the point yourself right there that women do have it hard. You're saying that unless you have children then you get fuck all. I was stuck in a homeless hotel when my little one was born and there were plenty of single childless women and men in there also. Sorry that you didn't get the help you needed but as I say you've proved the point yourself

SionnachRuadh · 26/02/2025 17:00

I remember years ago seeing one of those trashy morning shows, Jeremy Kyle or similar, and there was a young woman on there complaining about her family not letting her have the money for a breast enlargement. She didn't seem very bright, and I'm sorry to say wasn't particularly attractive. She had fixated on the idea that if she got her boobs done she'd easily be able to pull a footballer.

Transmaxxing seems to be an idea on the same level of magical thinking.

Really, where's this help coming from, I'm intrigued

To quote from the article "Additionally, the document also argues that transitioning to become a woman makes dating 'easier' as there are more people who could be romantically interested in them".

Is this actually true? I would have thought statistically there would be far less men will to date a transwoman and it would make it harder to find someone.

I don't see how it can possibly be true.

They are eliminating straight women from their dating pool - that must be a far larger cohort than any sector within the LBGT population who might be looking to date a transwoman.

I don't think it is realistic to say they have replaced straight women with straight men - some straight men, possibly, but I would hazard that a significant percentage of that group would be put off by male genitalia and the inability to bear their children.

Chersfrozenface · 26/02/2025 16:39

I'm trying to imagine an ex-incel transmaxxer as a trophy wife.

I have to tell you that I have not yet succeeded in my efforts.

SwanOfThoseThings · 26/02/2025 16:36

They include cheaper car insurance, free meals and an all-round 'easier' life once you've bagged a 'high-value' man - i.e. someone who is wealthy and attractive, thereby making them 'deeply desirable'.

It's been illegal for years to offer cheaper car insurance based on sex, so that's bollocks for a start.

Good luck to them 'bagging' a wealthy man who'll support them - they'll have to get in a queue behind plenty of other gold-diggers who'll have the advantage of being able to offer Mr Wealthy the possibility of a son-and-heir to inherit his estate.

And they maybe haven't realised that Mr Wealthy can be pretty fussy in his choice of woman; probably wanting someone well above average in looks and/or successful/wealthy in their own right.

EnchantedForestNearTheRiver · 26/02/2025 13:49

There is no lower value man than a man who thinks he’s a woman.

Excellent and completely spot on👌

mrsmalaprop · 26/02/2025 16:20

This is all based on the entirely fantasy assumption that all women can choose to marry a rich man and be kept and that women are constantly having our way in life funded by men.

It's bullshit, which they will find out once they've be-clowned themselves. Although they will no doubt put that down to transphobia.

You can see this on social media all the time. Men wanging on about women having no accountability and 'gate-keeping' sex, while back in the real world, women's choices always come with more severe consequences and sex is a choice where the consequences are more profound than most.

SionnachRuadh · 26/02/2025 16:07

I don't think they've thought this through. What's the market supposed to be?

There's a niche of men who say they're straight but will cop off with TW. Hence some (mostly young) TW working in prostitution. I don't think it's a very big or lucrative niche.

Gay men have a range of tastes in partners, but they're interested in men, and don't seem to be particularly open to TW. Assuming there are older, wealthy gay men willing to play a sugar daddy role, it would make more sense to present as male. And maybe work on developing a charming personality, but if they were willing to do that they wouldn't be incels.

offmynut · 26/02/2025 16:06

MarieDeGournay · 26/02/2025 13:10

Kittygolightlyy · 26/02/2025 15:55

😂😂🤷‍♀️

I haven’t read the article, the headline is enough to know that

a) he / they can’t get a woman to have sex with them now because they are repulsive

b) he / they won’t be getting any sex in future either because he / they are now even more repulsive

c) perhaps they’ll get the sex with each other and ‘discover’ that in fact they are gay. And still repulsive.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 26/02/2025 15:26

And this is why surrogacy is wrong.. this failed man wants to be a trad housewife (f-ed up nonsense already...) but surely the next step is buying a baby.

DeanElderberry · 26/02/2025 15:05

So in exchange for not getting cheaper car insurance, probably not getting any sex, and I'm doubtful about the free meals thing these chaps are going to what exactly?

Full disclosure, I have been offered a 'free' meal in the next week, but I have to do three and half hours work first, so it's not quite free exactly. And it's in a place that doesn't afaik do gluten-free anything so it may not be much of a meal.

I don't get the impression these men have really thought things through.

oh dear, was I using logic again?

Assuming they exist, given tabloid history.

Well Channel 4 found one for episode 5 of "Life Uncovered".

Given humans' limitless ability to do daft things, I don't see why they couldn't"t exist.

Greyskybluesky · 26/02/2025 14:42

Is this related to the Men Going Their Own Way thing from a few years ago that we don't hear so much about now? Did they all go their own way and nobody cared?

I'm more than happy to let them all go their own way together

<waves bye bye> 👋
