Columbine copycat in Edinburgh - what does 'transgender' mean in reporting?

OhBuggerandArse · 21/02/2025 17:42

The reporting on the BBC has been very clear that he is a boy, but also says that he is transgender. Is this a male who they are calling male, or an FTM?

The question is, have there been any female school shooters who did NOT id as trans? Cases like this just underline how it is imperative to collect data on both sex and gender ID.

FinallyASunnyDay · 21/02/2025 19:55

Both sex and transgender status are so important. Testosterone and blockers can cause mental health deterioration and psychosis. So yes, it matters if the perpetrator is female. And it matters if they are on meds, prescribed or self-acquired. Where is this stuff recorded, studied? Obfuscation is so unhelpful.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/02/2025 19:52

I don't know, but I'd be interested to know how many school shootings have ever been carried out by natal born girls.

More than one in the US has been carried out by a biological female who identifies as a man.

tothesea · 21/02/2025 19:51

What happened to this girl- only 14/15 at the time- to make them behave this way, have these murderous obsessions. So unusual in females 🤔

She obviously identifies as a murderous school shooter, too, but thankfully this particular identification was not affirmed.

ArabellaScott · 21/02/2025 19:43

This is not a boy. It's a girl. A seventeen year old child, who cannot get a GRC.

And is clearly mentally unstable.

Why the FUCK are they using requested pronouns to fuel this delusion?

Thank you.

The Times: 'The student, who was born female but identifies as a boy, “idolised” the killers behind the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado in the United States in 1999, in which 12 students and a teacher were shot dead.'

The BBC really needs to get a bloody grip on reality.

In which case, what on earth is the BBC playing at with all the ‘hes’ and ‘boys’?! Totally betraying their duty to provide clarity.

I also assume trans identifying female teenager because of the BBCs policy of using preferred pronouns.

If so, it look like a worry trend developing, thinking about some of the more recent school shootings in the US.

tothesea · 21/02/2025 19:28

The STV report doesn’t mention transgender at all..just ‘vulnerable’. It would be a turn up for the books if it turned out really to be a boy.

ArabellaScott · 21/02/2025 19:20

'Ms McCall KC told the court: "This is a vulnerable young person. He has mental health difficulties.
"He is a transgender person - that would need to be taken into account."'

Yes. It does need taken into account.

I have egg permanently muted for being so annoying 😂

🤣 Don't blame you!

guinnessguzzler · 21/02/2025 19:13

Replying to myself to say also not naming the school could be to support anonymity.

OhBuggerandArse · 21/02/2025 19:13

guinnessguzzler · 21/02/2025 19:11

It looks like they've deliberately avoided naming the school, presumably to stop everyone panicking or criticising the school or whatever. I have primary school kids in Edinburgh though and am equally concerned. It'll come out soon enough ... probably on EGG!

Does it say anywhere what school it was? With a child in an Edinburgh secondary this is absolutely terrifying.

Wonder if the potential murderer is male and the outcome of being trans is that they'll say they can't place him in the standard male prison? Doesn't say how long ago they realised they were trans either (when caught?).

This is an excellent point.

RO(post arrest)GD is a phenomina all of its own.

The frequency of the use of "he" and "boy" in a BBC article strongly suggests to me that the would-be school shooter is a girl.

I don't make the rules. Unhinged genderists in the BBC do.

I think they would blame somebody else say that their internal policy is to copy the practice of courts and police in each case.

Merrymouse · 21/02/2025 19:05

It's not clear from the story - particularly in that age group, 'trans' covers a huge variety of identities.

It would be very unusual for a girl to attempt to carry out these kinds of crimes, so sex is relevant.

However, I'm interested to know how much information was available to the BBC, given that the identity of' the teenager' can't be identified.

Signalbox · 21/02/2025 18:55

Also this bit…

“The boy is expected to be sent to a secure unit for young people or what was described as a "place of safety".

“A secure unit for young people” = a secure unit for young women.

duc748 · 21/02/2025 18:53

I said on another thread, yesterday, I think, that it's absolutely ridiculous that you can read a news story about a crime (not just on the BBC), and have no idea about the sex of the accused, and be reduced to guesswork. This never used to happen, and is quite unacceptable.

Signalbox · 21/02/2025 18:52

I think female.

Reference to them “looking like a school shooter” and copying how the Columbine shooters dressed.

"One pupil told police that the boy wore the same black trousers, trench coat, cap worn backwards and circular glasses as favoured by one of the Columbine pair.

Also the keeping of a diary is a bit of a giveaway.

I wonder if they were taking testosterone.
