USAID - American agency has been funding trans propaganda projects around the globe

USA ID - the US agency for industrial developement has been suspended by the Trump administration and now that there is scrutiny over what it has been spending the money on. It has a 30 billion dollar budget and I'm sure it may do some good sometimes with the money but it seems like it was ideologically captured by trans ideology under the influence of the US large corperations and pharmaceutical companies.

Some of it's recent funding -
$1.5 million grant to Serbian 'Groupa Izadji' 'Group comeout' to promote LGBTQ workplace practices
£30 million to research HIV transmission among transgender individuals inSouth Africa
Transgender 'healthcare initiatives' in Vietnam and India
$25,000 for and Opera in Colombia to promote transgender representation in the arts
$32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru.

Looking closer to home, it turns out Stonewall recieves funding from them -"National LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall also said the funding pause would affect its work in eastern Europe and the Caucasus'

BBC Media action also receives funding.
'The BBC's international charity BBC Media Action, which is funded by external grants and voluntary contributions, receives funding from USAID. According to a 2024 report, USAID donated $3.23m (£2.6m), making it the charity's second-largest donor that financial year.
It funds a range of projects in 30 countries and 50 languages across the world,
The charity, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, says its work is 'building stronger democracies', making a 'safer, more habitable planet' and creating 'more inclusive societies' - especially for the disabled and LGBTQI+ people.'

We know how much pro-trans propaganda the BBC pumps out here but it is depressing to think that it is being beamed into 30 other countries with a clear agenda to promote trans ideology.
However laudable the goals of 'spreading Democracy' are, it is a very Imperialist view and I do not want to fund the empowerment of 'transwoman' in say India to start marching into women's bathrooms there or taking over their sports.

So, Trump could have ordered it to stop those particular programmes.

That's not what's happened.

The only thing that's an actual "consequence" here – rather than a part of the longstanding MAGA plan – is people rushing to cheer the closure of the whole organisation and its programmes which keep women alive.

And I agree that is very sad.

Yep. This is where radical feminists and GCs diverge.

It is ridiculous to think that a relatively small amount spent on the t part of lgb etc stuff is any sort of justification for shutting down foreign aid.
You think some foreign aid “may have done some good”?? Really???
I am not sure how anybody left or right wing can think anything trump is doing is in any way positive for the US or the world.
It amazes me that some women argue that “at least he knows what a woman is”.
Yes of course he knows what a woman is. Those are the ones he grabs by the pussy. He is a convicted sexual predator. He defines women by their appearance and ridicules those he doesn’t find shaggable enough. He “jokes” about his own daughters breasts and says he would date her if he could. He looks at pretty, blonde ten year old little girls and says he will be dating them in ten years time.
And let’s not forget that he enabled the over turning of abortion rights.
How can intelligent women be so stupid as to think this sexist orange megalomaniac twat is offering anything positive to the female population?

How many foreign kids being mutilated and sterilised would it take for you to withdraw the funding from those programmes?

And if the US aid has been so good over the years, why is the world in a worse position that prior to US aid? It seems the more they pump into projects the worse the planet gets. Maybe it is time to take stock?

Should we, the richest nations who have profited from colonialism and slavery, look beyond the end of our noses to partner with those we have exploited to break cycles of poverty that make the world less safer? Absolutely

Good lord. White savior alert.

Charlotte Gill in the UK is doing the same sort of investigations into the WASTE of money that the UK funds. https://www.charlottecgill.co.uk/

WhyTheHate · 06/02/2025 04:29

I have worked on USAID and State Department funded programs for many years. These programs save lives, including the lives of LGBTQIA persons, children, people with disabilities, women, men, migrant workers… the list is endless. Your blinding hatred for trans people is leading you to be incredibly misinformed about USAID and its work.

A lot of my friends have now lost their jobs - at USAID but also at NGOs providing life saving medical care (TB, malaria, HIV, cancer…), supporting women leave abusive marriages, helping people escape trafficking, providing scholarships to kids who would otherwise be forcibly conscripted into fighting illegal wars, infrastructure projects, security services, fighting corruption, climate change, clean water, and yes, supporting the LGTQIA community who face extreme violence in many countries around the world.

You may not like all the programs that aid money supports - that’s ok, you likely haven’t dedicated your entire career to humanitarian assistance or development, you likely haven’t lead impact evaluations to measure the change these programs bring to people’s live, you likely aren’t subject matter experts informing the design of interventions based on decades of evidence, you likely get your information from news articles that cannot possibly communicate the complexity that is foreign assistance - but know that you are doing the bidding of women-hating fascists who would trample over you if they thought it would increase their power or wealth.

Is foreign assistance in need of reform? Absolutely. Should we, the richest nations who have profited from colonialism and slavery, look beyond the end of our noses to partner with those we have exploited to break cycles of poverty that make the world less safer? Absolutely.

I pity people like those on this thread who spend their free time as keyboard warriors against trans people. Trans people have existed forever and your hatred won’t change that.

@TempestTost sorry it feels a "but much" but when you take medicine away from the sick they become the dying. This isn't a game.

Awks! Sorry it's a bit much!

You have gone wrong in your life if you think this is feminism.

Funding priorities change all the time.

I know this because I work in a publicly funded service organization, and they not uncommonly change for me, and I can't find the programs I did before. Sometimes it's useless and stupid. Other times it's because it's become clear that a new approach will overall be better, but that will still leave some people using the old service with nothing.

Huge amounts of money are being wasted by this organization, if they can reverse that, there will be much more for worthwhile programs.

IwantToRetire · 05/02/2025 18:15

Seriously OP your title to this thread is just silly.

Name me one overseas aid agency, whether government or charity funding that isn't promoting the LGBTQI+ agenda.

As of course the UN.

To make out that USAID had had an outlying extreme position undermines any points you are trying to make.

I don't like that so much of the large agencies have been completely transed.

But that is the point the all have.

The issue here is that some unelected male maverick has let lose 4 of his juvenile male techies to interfere with a complex computer system holding personal information because he personally, ie Musk who is not accountable to anybody, doesn't like the purpose of USAID.

I think many of us can think of any number of large organisation who could do with trimming their sales but to jeopardise the health of women and children because Trump wants to give Musk a favourite target as a deranged individual, is appalling.

This is using the excuse of trimming costs to destroy it.

"Musk called USAID "evil", a "criminal organisation" and a "radical-left political psy op" - short for "psychological operation", a term commonly used online to allege a conspiracy or cover-up. In a live stream on X early Monday, he told followers: "You've got to basically get rid of the whole thing. It's beyond repair. ... We're shutting it down."

This is the problem of electing someone as a President who has no idea what democratic politics is and thinks he is still some domineering CEO of a private company. Not forgetting that in fact most of Trumps financial projects has not suceeded.

TempestTost · 05/02/2025 17:35

Beowulfa · 05/02/2025 13:43

Perhaps if the organisation had focussed on core fundamentals like sanitation, education, agriculture, admin infrastructure etc they could have rigteously defended the expenditure to Chuck Taxpayer. Nobody can justify LGBTQ@! opera with a straight face.

Once again, the most vulnerable lose out to middle class luxury beliefs.

And the whole - if you don't keep on funding through this organization, you are killing people, is a bit much.

No, the things that are killing people are killing people. You can't do policy in that kind of reactionary way, it's a kind of emotional blackmail.

Otherwise, every time we decide to make one funding choice over another, or change what we do with our money, collectively, as a nation, or even as individuals, we are taking on the weight of "killing people".

Does anyone trust an organization, or the people in it, who are using aid money to fund LGBTQI+ opera?

There is a sense ein which Trump is likely appealing to his base here - this kind of corruption is the exact reason that many Americans are suspicious about high level bureaucracy and aid funneled mainly through the government (either their own or on the end of those receiving the money.)

If anyone bears responsibility for it being questioned now, it's the people using to fund their pet causes.

PerkingFaintly · 05/02/2025 13:36

Mind you it is very characteristic of Trump, who repeatedly sets fire to things so he can then play the hero rescuing people from the fire. Hmm

Not only coming WAY late to the gender ideology pushback party, but needing Trump to blow everything up to do it. Good old USA!

Watching Trump in action is like seeing someone burning his house down and that if his neighbours because he doesn't like the bathroom tiles.

DeanElderberry · 05/02/2025 16:45

I have always been surprised at the amount of money being spent on this stuff in Ireland, and wondered was it being subsidised by our huge Pharma industry. Maybe some of it was international aid.

Herewegoagain29 · 05/02/2025 16:34

The point I was making was that an unelected organisation in the US with billions of dollars of funding is choosing to fund trans organisations around the world with a view to promote and popularise the idea of trans, and to strengthen the vioces of transactivists to put pressure on governments to influence pro - trans policy. They are funding advocacy groups to the detriment of women and girls.

Here is a group that they fund in Sweden, RFSL:

The international department is currently the biggest unit at RFSL, and our work at RFSL with international issues is extensive. We cooperate with LGBTQI organisations in East Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe, and we organise trainings for LGBTQI activists from all over the globe. RFSL also works continually with political advocacy and opinion making on several levels, all the way from the UN to the local level in Sweden.

https://www.rfsl.se/en/about-us/our-work-at-rfsl/

and one in Latin America:

We’re looking to strengthen local LGBTQI+ organizations to enhance their capacity,”

https://www.washingtonblade.com/2022/11/02/usaid-highlights-work-to-promote-lgbtq-intersex-rights-in-latin-america-caribbean/

I wasn't looking for a discussion on the Trump politics side of things but thinking that wondering why they were doing it - their remit is to open up new markets for American trade so it stands to reason it is pharmacutical companies wanting to open up clinics worldwide that is the motivation.

No, I wasn't joking but I was talking about cash for projects and organisations. The ideological programmes should have been shut down or phased out and humanitarian relief programmes allowed to continue, even if it was with emergency funding, while the review takes place.
That's my opinion as a non-US citizen.

SleepDeprivedElf · 05/02/2025 15:20

Are you joking? Yes the shutdown has been immediate. There’s supposedly exemptions for ‘life-saving’ aid but in practice there’s a lot of confusion over what that entails and crucial stocks of food and medicine are already being held up:

www.nbcnews.com/news/politics-news/trump-usaid-upheaval-paralyzing-global-delivery-food-medicine-rcna190565

WandaSiri · 05/02/2025 15:15

I'd be surprised if USAID fund projects on a daily basis, wouldn't they shell out for a financial year, or quarterly, or something? I wouldn't have thought any organisation will be starved of cash immediately. Am I wrong about that?
If the review drags on, or if after the review the genuine, worthwhile projects are cancelled, that's another matter.

GrumpyPanda · 05/02/2025 14:06

LifeExperience · 05/02/2025 13:15

USAID isn't going away. It's been stopped temporarily while forensic accountants figure out where all the money went. When it is stood up again it will be under the oversight of the Secretary of State where it belongs.

"Forensic accountants." Bwahahaha. Are you talking about the baby-faced boys barely out of high school who've been documented as leading the Muskovite storm troops at AID?

Deljay · 05/02/2025 13:56

@Herewegoagain29 "what is wrong with investigating whether the money is used well?"

You can do that without killing people. Done like this, many people will die. Real people. It's not a joke or a game or a political move. A person just like you, with hopes for the future and worries and dreams, is going to kneel down tomorrow over the corpse of their baby because the medicine she needed is locked in a box on the orders of Elon Musk. That woman on her knees is just like you. Her grief is boundless.

I'm with her. You're with him. That's who you are. Face it.

Edited

Indeed, this is done frequently when governments change or budgets shrink, and programmes can be closed. What they are doing now and the way they are doing it is morally bankrupt, dangerous and blinkered.

No this is not why the Trump administration has gone for shutting down USAID completely.

This the PR the Trump administration is using to get us to accept it shutting down USAID completely – and not just accept it, cheer it on.

The administration could have just closed all trans programmes, or all DEI programmes – as it has in, say, the US military, without disbanding the US military (funny that).

Meanwhile, USAID has been doing things like supporting women in Afghanistan and feeding refugees in Gaza. That will all stop.

Yes, this. And this move will have significant repercussions for international development globally. People will die as a direct result, and this will disproportionately affect women and children. Trump and Musk are disgusting dick swinging vandals.

Herewegoagain29 · 05/02/2025 13:51

The president of El Salvador Nyab Bukeli described it as this -

Most governments don’t want USAID funds flowing into their countries because they understand where much of that money actually ends up. While marketed as support for development, democracy, and human rights, the majority of these funds are funneled into opposition groups, NGOs with political agendas, and destabilizing movements. At best, maybe 10% of the money reaches real projects that help people in need (there are such cases), but the rest is used to fuel dissent, finance protests, and undermine administrations that refuse to align with the globalist agenda. Cutting this so-called aid isn’t just beneficial for the United States; it’s also a big win for the rest of the world.

They funded gain of function research in the Wuhan Lab through Eco Health alliance, There is a dispute about the amount but their statement does show
that funding went there:

But as the forthcoming GAO report will show, the total amount of grant funding from NIH and USAID to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for the projects in question from 2014 to 2021 amounted to less than $1.3 million – a fraction of the amount claimed by CBS News.

https://www.ecohealthalliance.org/2023/03/ecohealth-alliance-statement-correcting-inaccuracies-in-cbs-news-reporting

James Lee claims they were exposed in the mid 2000's for building a fake Cuban twitter called ZunZunnio to feed anti government sentiment, it was eventually banned.

w

It's like all these old institutions they can go a bit rogue over time and forget their origional purpose. USAID has not been perminantly closed, I believe and hopefully the good projects that they run will be re-instated quickly but what is wrong with investigating whether the money is used well?

A lot of these kinds of large organizations, while they do some good work, waste prodigious amounts on money and function as a way to funnel money not only into certain ideological areas, but to certain groups and people. It's what's happened to Amnesty International, for example.

We'll have to see what announcements come out about how they are going to manage the actual worthwhile work they did, but it shouldn't be a surprise, nor is it a bad thing, if organizations like this come under significant scrutiny. They aren't benign groups that have become confused, they are actually spending huge amounts of money that are meant to help people on things that do not help people.

International aid is hugely fucked up, they operate like corrupted religious organizations.

Can't post screenshots at the moment of course, but just as an example if you cllck on a link which at the moment Google says reads:

"Afghanistan | U.S. Agency for International Development

Then what you get is this:
On Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:59 pm (EST) all USAID direct hire personnel will be placed on administrative leave globally, with the exception of designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and specially designated programs. Essential personnel expected to continue working will be informed by Agency leadership by Thursday, February 6, at 3:00pm (EST).
For USAID personnel currently posted outside the United States, the Agency, in coordination with missions and the Department of State, is currently preparing a plan, in accordance with all applicable requirements and laws, under which the Agency would arrange and pay for return travel to the United States within 30 days and provide for the termination of PSC and ISC contracts that are not determined to be essential. The Agency will consider case-by-case exceptions and return travel extensions based on personal or family hardship, mobility or safety concerns, or other reasons. For example, the Agency will consider exceptions based on the timing of dependents’ school term, personal or familial medical needs, pregnancy, and other reasons. Further guidance on how to request an exception will be forthcoming.
Thank you for your service.

This is not how you bring in forensic accountants.
