Horrifying Republican response to Bishop's sermon

These are tweets from Matt Walsh on X about Bishop Marian Budde and her sermon earlier today in Washington, attacking her womanhood and ability in a sexist and ageist tirade. It seems the clarion call has gone out to the rest of the Trump X minions, as they are all tweeting the same sentiments - including Kellie-Jay Keen and Donald Trump Jnr. Rep. Mike Collins całłed for her deportation, although she is American. Do you still support Trump after this?

“A liberal woman over the age of 50 with a lesbian haircut is guaranteed to support the most evil ideas and policies that mankind has ever conceived.”

“Just take one look at this witch and you know everything you need to know about her, even before she starts talking.”

“Of course this grotesque display is coming from a female “priest.” You will only ever hear heresy and inanity from someone whose whole existence is blasphemous.”

And another tweet from Bo Loudon: “🚨BREAKING: A bishop at the National Cathedrol just urged President Trump to protect transgender children and not deport illegal aliens because "they're not criminals."

Pure class from President Trump as he sat through this despicable politicization of the prayer service.”

Speech text:
““In the Name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now,” Budde stated. “There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican and independent families. Some who fear for their lives.

”The people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat-packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals. They may not be citizens, or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals.”

Budde asked Trump “to have mercy” on people “in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away and that you help those who are fleeing warzones and persecution in their own lands to find compassion and welcome here.

“Our God teaches us that we are to be merciful to the stranger, for we were all once strangers in this land,” she continued. “May God grant us the strength and courage to honor the dignity of every human being, to speak the truth to one another in love, and walk humbly with each other and our God.”

Earlier in her message, Budde stressed the importance of unity, of respectfully disagreeing with one another, but also expressed concern over what she called “the culture of contempt” and feared “the loss of equality” for some who lose in political debates.

What a horrible, divisive message this is! 🙄 Personally, I think Budde's message is courageous and beautiful, and clearly deeply Christian at its core.

No I'm saying that those who promote gender ideology whether they are TRAs, teachers, drs, politicians or useful idiots like the priest in question are responsible for all the ills I described and no these people deserve no compassion or mercy.
Those who have been harmed by this ideology deserve our compassion but that doesn't include affirming their delusions or pandering to their demands.
That was a very nice try to completely twist my words though @izimbra 10/10 for effort

The priest asked for 'mercy' and 'compassion' for transgender people who are scared about their future.

Literally that's all she said.

Apparently by doing this she's responsible for all the ills you describe.

Quoting just her words from the sermon - could you explain exactly how you've come to this conclusion?

WandaSiri · 23/01/2025 23:15

Just by the by, the trans population is not 0.3% or any particular percentage.
It could be anything up to 50% of the population because any male can declare himself trans, and he is.

I have just listened to that sermon. It's a completely theologically correct and orthodox sermon about the need for respect in civil discourse with appropriate reference to the teachings of Christ and the fundamentals of Christianity. During this twenty minute sermon trans people are mentioned precisely once.

Trump says the sermon was "nasty". I say anyone who objects to this sermon is, like Trump, nasty.

There is nothing theologically orthodox about describing a child as "trans". This bishop would do well to remember Matthew 19:4.

Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

Is the bishop saying that God makes mistakes?

It would depend on the parents situation . My point was that Trump is trying to undo constitutional law . He will not be able to do that . He is not a dictator . He at the moment is temporarily blocked by a judge .

Exactly. He is not a dictator and the USA's legendary checks and balances of power are doing their job to protect your Constitution. So why the fearmongering?

@Hoardasurass

Are you saying that transgender people are morally culpable for all the ills you perceive arising from them being transgender/choosing to medically and/or socially live as a gender different to that of their sex, and therefore none of them are deserving of any compassion or mercy?

They have my full compassion and mercy right up until the point that, if they are transwomen, they insist on accessing women's spaces, sports, quotas, hospital wards, prisons, DV shelters, rape crisis shelters, lesbian groups and screwing up science and data. No compassion or mercy however for the activists egging them on, the progressives turning a blind eye, the fetishists and predators taking advantage or anyone involved in suggesting to children that they may be in the wrong body.

That wasn't the whole speech was it...

'They may not be citizens, or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals.”

You missed out the next line which was 'they pay taxes'.

They won't pay taxes will they? What with being undocumented and all. That's the point.

Undocumented immigrants usually do pay taxes in the USA

Very brave I thought.
I've been wondering recently what I would actually have the guts to do if I found myself living in a world I felt strongly was going the wrong way and where dissent was squashed quickly and aggressively. (Off the back of reading a book set in pre-war Germany.)
And maybe this is the only thing people could do in that situation. Speaking up publicly for what you believe and doing it early. Well done her.

Slight problem with your analogy in that the priest in this case is not standing up for the down trodden predominantly female victims of gender ideology or those children who have had their bodies harmed by dangerous medications and/or mutilating surgeries before they're even old enough to understand what they are loosing.
Instead, you're cheering on those who promote and actively perpetuate Mengele type of experimentation on children and babies both pre and post birth (testosterone for pregnant women regardless of the harm to their unborn babies as wanting a healthy baby is evil cis hetro normative colonialism and male chest excretions instead of their mothers milk or formula).
You are not on the side of the angels here. You need to look at the way women who have spoken out about this have been treated both in the US and the UK, we've been threatened, assaulted, verbally abused, stalked, harassed, fired and persecuted by the police and justice system with not only the tassit approval but the active approval of certain elected members of both the Westminster and Scottish government's.

If they are residents but not citizens then they are not stateless though. Won't they be legally holding a nationality other than being a person with the birth right citizenship of the USA? So, not stateless?

BTW - 'the vast majority of voters' did not prefer Trump.

The majority of voters - more than 50% - either voted for Harris or didn't vote.

You seem to like using numbers, but ignore it when they demonstrate things you don’t like.

I pointed out how your 0.3% negatively affects millions of women and asked how many women will it take before you think it’s a problem. Do you have an answer?

Helleofabore · 23/01/2025 19:44

Danja2010 · 23/01/2025 19:17

It will also affect people who reside legally in the USA but are not citizens . The biggest tragedy is that Trump is trying to undo a part of the Constitution which he just swore to uphold !
He is a dangerous man .

So, you have nothing to really back up your claims. A child born in the USA to parents who have not got the right to live there will not be made ‘stateless’. They have citizenship in the USA. Their parents don’t.

You have used emotionally manipulative language to describe the situation.

@GrammarTeacher teacher does not consider us worthy of reply. She has much more important things to do. Apparently "Women’s rights are hugely under threat right now".

From a whole range of people who were born in the states. I believe some (often racist) people call them anchor babies.
I have no interest in debating my opinions on trans issues on here. I will not change my mind. Others won’t change theirs. We both can use evidence from a range of sources. It won’t help the current situation.
The OP was about the sermon. It was a Christian sermon. It was fine. Women’s rights are hugely under threat right now. I would prefer if we could stop fighting each other. While this has been going on they over turned Roe V Wade!

And can I take it then that you merely ‘wish’ that female sports could use a ‘case by case’ solution to allow some male people to access a sports category designed to protect female people in both safety and equitable competition. But you have absolutely nothing to offer in that regard. Just as every other person, including the sports experts, who repeat that empty platitude.

Is it because it makes you feel that you are reasonable that you make that statement? When the reality is that your position harms female people’s sporting opportunities.

@GrammarTeacher

"Well, he does intend to make people stateless."

You do realise that the UK and the majority of the world also do not allow birthright citizenship, instead basing citizenship on the parents.

Are the UK and Europe making people stateless by not allowing birth right citizenship??

Harris & the Dems left the goal posts wide open with dangerous nonsense about operations for “ trans “ prisoners, gushing over Dylan with her letter about his “ girlhood”.
i hope the person who thought up the advert “ Harris is for they/them , Trump
is for you “ deserves a huge bonus because it summed it all up.

If this presidential election has shown one thing, it's disproved the claim by Jess Phillips et al that the conflict between trans activists' demands and women's rights isn't important to voters.

Please stop suggesting you speak for all women. You don’t. It has been shown again and again that women have a range of opinion on trans issues.
I certainly don’t agree with many people on this thread (but for example, I do think that sporting issues should be dealt with on a case by case basis no hard and fast yes or no).

The previous poster quoted me. I just said 'women', not gc women, not women who voted for Trump, just 'women'. The poster explicitly said women are racists. All women. Including, by their lights, transwomen.
