Horrifying Republican response to Bishop's sermon

These are tweets from Matt Walsh on X about Bishop Marian Budde and her sermon earlier today in Washington, attacking her womanhood and ability in a sexist and ageist tirade. It seems the clarion call has gone out to the rest of the Trump X minions, as they are all tweeting the same sentiments - including Kellie-Jay Keen and Donald Trump Jnr. Rep. Mike Collins całłed for her deportation, although she is American. Do you still support Trump after this?

“A liberal woman over the age of 50 with a lesbian haircut is guaranteed to support the most evil ideas and policies that mankind has ever conceived.”

“Just take one look at this witch and you know everything you need to know about her, even before she starts talking.”

“Of course this grotesque display is coming from a female “priest.” You will only ever hear heresy and inanity from someone whose whole existence is blasphemous.”

And another tweet from Bo Loudon: “🚨BREAKING: A bishop at the National Cathedrol just urged President Trump to protect transgender children and not deport illegal aliens because "they're not criminals."

Pure class from President Trump as he sat through this despicable politicization of the prayer service.”

Speech text:
““In the Name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now,” Budde stated. “There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican and independent families. Some who fear for their lives.

”The people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat-packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals. They may not be citizens, or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals.”

Budde asked Trump “to have mercy” on people “in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away and that you help those who are fleeing warzones and persecution in their own lands to find compassion and welcome here.

“Our God teaches us that we are to be merciful to the stranger, for we were all once strangers in this land,” she continued. “May God grant us the strength and courage to honor the dignity of every human being, to speak the truth to one another in love, and walk humbly with each other and our God.”

Earlier in her message, Budde stressed the importance of unity, of respectfully disagreeing with one another, but also expressed concern over what she called “the culture of contempt” and feared “the loss of equality” for some who lose in political debates.

What a horrible, divisive message this is! 🙄 Personally, I think Budde's message is courageous and beautiful, and clearly deeply Christian at its core.

Kemi Badenoch is unlikely to go down the road of right wing populism. In fact that might be her undoing, but she is a data and evidence driven politician and I have great hopes for her leadership and getting back to more common sense conservatism. Because she does look at the evidence before formulating policy, she is intelligent and thoughtful.

For example, she ignored the civil servants who tried to stop her speaking to Keira Bell about her (too rapid) transition on the NHS and detransition.

The bishop is responsible for what she says, who she supports and who she ignores.

This board hasn't campaigned for Trump, so its madness that we are asked to justify why we support trump, simply because this is a place where we discussed sex and gender.

Many, if not most, active posters on this board have supported Trump - for his election, and particularly the EO just released.

The OP asked Do you still support Trump after this? as if most FWR posters did.

The whole thread seems to hold women on a British parenting site responsible for US politics.

Why would I them responsible for US politics? No, but I do question some opinions - as this is a discussion forum. Additionally, as Farage appears to want to duplicate Trumpism in the UK, with Elon Musk's support - maybe you've seen the enthusiastic MEGA (Make Europe Great Again) tweets - it isn't so odd to be talking about it.

Isn't that what people are also doing when they are attacking the Bishop. Especially with the "where was her compassion for...."

No-one on here has attacked her in the sense of telling her to die in a grease fire. She gave her sermon, which she was entitled to do. Some of us considered it to be brave and compassionate, some of us thought it was lop-sided and divisive. The fact that women as a sex-class are blamed for so much does not mean that every individual woman is beyond reproach.

It wasn't a lecture. It wasn't even a lengthy sermon. It was 3 minutes max. It was a plea to the President to be merciful to those feeling afraid. The sort of thing I'd expect from a Christian.

I'm disgusted at the hatred and vitriol heaped on Bishop Mariann Budde. But it's the sort of thing I expect from President Trump and his acolytes.

"You've let me down, you've let yourself down and you've let MN FWR down" 😳

AliceNutterWasAWoman · 24/01/2025 09:02

@izimbra
I know two parents who have supported their child's transition - their children are now transgender adults living decent lives. I'm going to guess you think these parents are probably misguided, or maybe stupid. Or maybe evil? And you believe you have a better understanding and knowledge of their child's experience than they do or than their child does. You feel your own experience in therapy gives you the authority in this area?

I'm sure that they arranged for their child to have many hours of non-judgemental therapy before any medical/surgical treatments. I expect they explained to them that, while they may present as the opposite sex, they are not actually the opposite sex and never can be. I imagine they also made it quite clear that, if the child is male, they should never encroach on women's boundaries in any way.

Also, if they did have medical and/or surgical treatment, I hope they have kept the receipts

AliceNutterWasAWoman · 24/01/2025 08:55

Good morning @izimbra . I have had my coffee and eagerly await your answer to the question:
If you cannot define the word woman than you cannot define woman's rights. So you are fighting for people's rights, not women's rights. Are there no situations in which you feel women need separate provision to men?

DrBlackbird · 24/01/2025 08:48

The OP asked Do you still support Trump after this? as if most FWR posters did.

To be clear, I’m not American, but I have never and would never support Trump. The man is a thug bordering on psychopathic and a danger to the world.

Neither do I support self ID, the replacement of the word woman, the loss of SSS’s, the allowance of males into female sport, or the medicalisation of gender questioning youth.

It’s also disturbing to think that, irrespective of what Bishop Marian Budde preached (common garden #bekind), Trump’s accolades will get away with saying and doing absolutely anything now he’s pardoned the Jan 6th rioters. So the pendulum may well swing violently back to the right and we’ll lose the opposite form of free speech. I certainly don’t support that either.

OvaHere · 24/01/2025 07:27

if you'd devoted a tenth of the anger and energy you've devoted to decrying transgenderism into lobbying government to address inadequate public transport outside large cities, or shit maternity care, or addressing women's housing needs, you'd have had a vastly bigger impact on women's safety and quality of life.

Whatever efforts women have put into fighting back pales into insignificance compared to the decades in the making effort shitty men have put in to removing our spaces in the first place, cosying up to influential people, lobbying in the shadows to enact policies that gets them into rape shelters if they feel like it or steal medals from women who have worked so hard at their sport.

You seem to have nothing to say about those men.

What could they have better spent their time doing? Perhaps they could have tried to tackle poverty or world hunger rather than devoting their energy to thinking up a thousand crappy reasons why 'ladydick' is a true and honest thing or why putting a pink headband on suddenly means they have no sporting advantage over young women.

But no, it's just women that apparently have to just shut up, say nothing and take whatever crap they throw at us. You think you're so righteous when really you're just an advocate and apologist for letting these men do whatever the fuck they want as long as they hide behind a warped framing of social justice.

EasternStandard · 24/01/2025 06:50

TempestTost · 24/01/2025 02:28

Te real question is why didn't Biden get a sermon about being kind to young women in sports, or children being given terrible therapy and having their bodies irreparably damaged, or women who can't access rape support with confidence that no men will be there.

That's what rankles. She may have "just asked for kindness and mercy" but actually, we all hive a strong suspect she is saying that because she supports those things. And that makes it seem less like a Christian statement, and more like a political statement.

Fair question and an answer is along the lines of how much gender ideology has impacted institutions and the beliefs of those within them

We’ll see what happens when a country starts to undo that

JessaWoo · 24/01/2025 06:20

@selffellatingouroborosofhate

What you have written suggests that President Pussygrabber has repealed the Americans With Disabilities Act. That was passed by Congress, so I don't think he can do that.

You're correct - the EO regarding DEIA isn't legislation, much as the EO regarding two sexes isn't legislation. It's advice to Federal agencies only, meaning any discrimination can still be an offence under the Act you mention. However, within the sphere of Federal influence, I imagine this EO will have a great amount of authority that will filter down. I hope not, though.

Truth isn't the term trans child, it's gender ideology and a political pov

So you think because of this EO suddenly equality for black people is going to improve?

By the man who just removed equality protection for black people?

Given that racial equality is protected in the Civil Rights Act 1964, I don't see how he can repeal an act of congress via EO.

I've asked several times what document he's signed to remove all these protections and no one has answered.

TooBigForMyBoots · 24/01/2025 03:26

You think all or even most DEI training focuses on trans @selffellatingouroborosofhate?

No.

Training is only one small part of DEI. When I last did DEI training, it mentioned all nine of the Equality Act protected characteristics, as it rightly should.

Taking "woman" off a women's health leaflet isn't a matter of training, but of policy. Replacing toilet door signs isn't training, but policy. There's a whole industry of consultants who will come, for a price, to tell you what they think your policies should be. At my employer alone, these policies involve:

  • A trans policy that conflicts with the Workplace (Health Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 by preventing peer enforcement of the single-sex signage on existing toilets.
  • A maternity leave policy that says "birthing parent", not "mother".
  • A lactation policy that says "chestfeeding".
  • A definition of islamophobia that had my employer refuse to take action against pro-Palestine demonstrators on the premises for weeks, even after they assaulted staff.

What we conspicuously lack is:

  • A disability policy that requires freeware accessibility tools to be installed on all workplace PCs as standard, even though we are expected to hotdesk.
  • A disability policy that guarantees a fixed desk for anyone who needs dedicated hardware or costs-money accessibility software.
  • A disability policy requiring chairs and doors to be below a certain weight so that disabled people (thinking of a colleague with EDS here) can actually move them.
  • A disability policy that requires that tied-down mice have enough flex on the cable so that someone without a working right hand can use them left-handed.
  • A breastfeeding policy that assures a suitable fridge and lockable private room within a ten minute walk of all workspaces.
  • A reasonable adjustments policy that says that if Occy Health have recommended something, Estates damn well do it without moaning about the cost and asking for a second opinion in an email that is later forwarded to the disabled person needing the adjustment because she has to request even more supporting evidence. That really made me feel welcomed and valued, that. 😕

The common factors here are that the consultants recommend a load of trans stuff because it's trendy and other stuff is an afterthought. The employer actions the trans stuff because it's cheap and trendy and might action the other stuff if it's cheap. But the meaningful changes, the one that would cost money and/or create some work for someone (e.g. IT), they don't get actioned, if they were recommended at all.

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 24/01/2025 03:37

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 24/01/2025 03:18

There is a difference between meaningful equality action and the sprawling DEI industrial complex that is swallowing up money that could be used to give women paid maternity leave, screen Black babies for medical conditions like sickle cell anaemia that disproportionately affect Black people, and check the blood types of Black and Brown mothers before they are due to give birth to make sure that compatible blood transfusions are available. Making sure that health care meets the needs of Black and Brown people is what will save lives, not sending staff to be lectured at or replacing the word "woman" with "person" on the cervical smear leaflets in the waiting room.

So you think because of this EO suddenly equality for black people is going to improve?

TooBigForMyBoots · 24/01/2025 02:48

Right. The reason black mothers face poorer maternity care and outcomes is because of racism against white people? The reason for the pay gap between sexes is because women just aren't as good as men?

Who do you think is being discriminated against @TempestTost?

Why more Black blood donors are needed

More Black donors are needed because of a rise in demand for some rare blood subtypes that are more common in people of Black heritage.

Undocumented immigrants usually do pay taxes in the USA

In the $hundreds-of-millions. Maybe $billions.
But they get nothing, zero, zip, nada, back from the government.
I have no idea where all that money goes, but the workers don’t see one cent of it.
They don’t take take take like Donald and his pals want you to believe.
That’s Donald’s & Elon’s & Jeff’s & those bro’s hobby.
