It is a mistake to think that western governments care about women. The expression of misogyny is just different.

The problem is that even boycotts won't work. Their major trading partners don't care, and that they produce isn't important. Their GDP is tanking and they don't give a shit.

Oh and heroin, not known for its ethical consumers.

I’ve seen it explained by men and women with experience of living in Afghanistan that the attitude behind this extremism is a medieval attitude towards life and the world. So no evidence of this extremism causing medical or psychological harm to women would be accepted or valued by the men of the Taliban, nor would an argument that women deserve to be treated as equals or even just as human beings with their own rights and dignity. It’s also a mindset that is all about how if a man is dedicated to being religiously observant in life then he will be happy for eternity in heaven and so it doesn’t care particularly what happens to people on a practical level in real everyday life, that stuff is all god’s will as to what happens.

It’s despicable and depressing and I don’t understand why Western governments aren’t doing more to stand up for Afghani women.

So grotesque, this oppression, this complete squashing of women into dark silent corners, just to be used as uteruses, cooks and housemaids.

Could it be about re-directing anger toward Western occupiers onto women whose rights Westerners value and progressed because the Taliban can’t target and abuse who they really hate? (Ie classic insecure bully MO)

It’s just beyond sickening. Those poor women, breaks my heart for them.

I have deep hate in my heart for the men who come up with these despicable punishments. But even if I could attempt to articulate the POV of the men in charge (the ones raping the women so more boys come up through the ranks), in what way is it smart to keep treating your broodmares so poorly that you risk breeding more misogynistic men, as that seems to be their goal, yes? Vitamin D deficiency and lack of maternal health care doesn't promote a booming fertility economy.

It's hard to know how to respond to such hatred and oppression of women. Not allowed a kitchen window in case a man sees them inside. Not allowed to talk out loud in case a man hears. No learning no jobs no way to earn an income. Despicable
