What is going on here.
Why are they so determined to support LGBTYS and trans young people - who is driving this?

if the number of actual deaths of trans people (as compared to say, actual women) were marked pro rata then at best it should be a trans tea break of remembrance.

SinnerBoy · 28/12/2024 17:06

George Floyd a hardened criminal who pressed a shotgun into a pregnant woman's belly

That turned out to be 100% false, the crime simply never happened. It was made up by the police and passed on to right wing commentators.

SparklyTurtle

So far on this thread your poster children for your argument is

George Floyd a hardened criminal who pressed a shotgun into a pregnant woman's belly
and
Tiffany Scott another convicted criminal who even sent abusive messages from his cell.

Its not a good look from for the TRA side.

There are much better examples to use but you would also have to say what rights they no longer have by being trans.

ArabellaScott · 28/12/2024 16:55

You are resorting to outright lies, Sparkly. Because you have no arguments.

You asserted that Scott died of violence. What are you basing this on? The inquest is ongoing.

As for memorialising Tiffany Scott, go right ahead.

Let's make sure everyone remembers this violent, abusive child-stalker.

I never said Scott specifically died of violence, you've made that up.

So if criminals don't deserve the same respect as the rest of society why are we supposed to care about the women he's in prison with?

Unless it's got nothing to do with the fact he's a criminal and it's just because he's trans that you have a problem with his death actually mattering of course?

No I'm not scouring the internet to look for information that places one of recorded deaths in the article linked in Scotland, because I have better things to spend my time on.

Well yes, it would be a complete waste of your time, as there isn't a single case. You have made a bold claim, but refuse to back it up with supporting evidence, ergo, you have conceded your position.

If you make unsupported claims, nobody will believe anything else you say.

The fact that transgender people are victims of violence is not a bold claim it is true. As evidenced by the link.

I didn't say that that there were definitely trans deaths in Scotland, I said there were trans deaths in Europe as a whole and it cannot be asserted that none of these were in Scotland. You can't know because the statistics on transgender people being murdered are not officially recorded.

A total of nine trans people were murdered in the UK between 2008 and 2017 using unofficial data according to 4 news. That’s an average rate of one victim per year. Again the UK is not Scotland but does include it so you can't say no Scottish trans people have been murdered truthfully without any evidence.

But as I said, even if it is not in Scotland it's on the doorstep so why should Scotland not care about this issue?

Nothing I have said is untrue. You just decided it is because you didn't like what I said.

Oh course Scots get a say, they just continue to vote the SNP into power.

Heaven knows why my fellow Scots continue to do so. The more light that shines upon this idiocracy the better.
Hopefully Scotland comes to their senses in the next Holyrood election.

What the fuck has happened to Scotland?

Scots get no say. These things are decided.by higher ranks than the people. Just wait till the next elections.

'Scott is serving an indefinite sentence as she is subject to an order for lifelong restriction (OLR), meaning she will only be released when she is no longer considered an "unmanageable risk to public safety".
She was handed that sentence in 2013, after admitting stalking a 13-year-old girl by sending letters from her cell.
In 2017 Falkirk Sheriff Court was locked down amid safety fears as Scott was sentenced over a series of violent incidents in Glenochil Prison in Clackmannanshire.
They included striking a prison nurse on her back with a hurled chair, punching a prison officer in the face, and spitting at another officer and trying to bite him.
She also smeared excrement over her cell, tore a drip needle out of her arm, and ripped up "tear-proof" clothing.'
...
"Tiffany Scott, formerly Andrew Burns, one of the most dangerous prisoners in Scotland has gained approval to be moved into the women's prison estate.
"Scott has attacked female prison officers and stalked a child from prison. No men should be placed in a women's prison."

Tiffany Scott: Call to block trans prisoner's move to women's jail

It is understood that Tiffany Scott - previously Andrew Burns - has applied for a transfer.

ArabellaScott · 28/12/2024 14:53

Tiffany Scott was approved to be sent to a women's prison.

Let's not forget that.

I'm happy to keep his name in the public eye, Sparkly. It's the perfect illustration of why men who call themselves women should not be allowed to access women's services, spaces, and rights.

George Floyd was a dangerous criminal but there were protests all over the world for him because racism is wrong. No one said police haven't murdered a black person in the UK so it's not our problem.

Transphobia and violence against trans people is wrong and the fact that some of them are criminals doesn't negate that.

I paraphrased to shorten the paragraph. The sentiment is the same.

If paraphrasing turns sensible people against a minority that regularly faces discrimination, they are not good people.

You paraphrased to twist the meaning. So that it says what you want it to say.

If you have to twist the meaning of someone's words so that you can exploit what is said than you don't have any evidence to support your argument. But this is why TRAs went for #Nodebate in the early days of this discussion,

SparklyTurtle · 28/12/2024 14:28

FrippEnos · 28/12/2024 14:22

Ah the not so carefully mis- quoted comment,

That says so much more about you than me.

But you keep up the good work of turning sensible people against your cause,

here is what has been mis quoted

Maybe transphobia and violence against trans people would be taken more seriously if TRAs hadn't tried to redefine everything so that everything that they don't like is transphobia and violence against trans people

but you do you.

maybe people would care more if TRAs hadn't called everything didn't like transphobia

Sure reads as no one cared because people call out transphobia and we don't like it.

Can you imagine someone saying racism is wrong and someone replied with maybe people would care more about racism if ethnic minorities and their allies stopped banging on about how everything is subtly racist and stopped trying to tell white people they can't experience racism too!? spoiler; some people do actually say this and normal people are horrified by it and point out that they are uncaring racists.

This is no different, it's just a different group op f people a large portion of society has decided they don't like and don't care about their issues, simply because they are from a demographic people have taken a dislike against.

Also, since when we're the Daily Fail taken seriously or regarded as a respectable, factual newspaper? They are known for driving hatred and division between the white working class and the minorities they usually dislike in the UK. They are the rag that posts all the made up rubbish about burning poppies and not being able to celebrate Christmas anymore. None of it's true it's just there to stir up hatred!

This will be the first time I've ever seen a Daily Mail reader supported as correct and unbiased on MN or any other debate forum.

Greyskybluesky · 28/12/2024 13:44

an open admission that people here don't care about violence against transgender people because people speak up against transphobia.

Just for the record, this wasn't what was actually said. But people can read for themselves.

Since you're here @SparklyTurtle any progress on the Scotland stats to support your argument above?

No I'm not scouring the internet to look for information that places one of recorded deaths in the article linked in Scotland, because I have better things to spend my time on.

It doesn't matter if it happened specifically in Scotland or not, transgender people are killed for being transgender, violence against transgender people is real and it is happening in Europe as stated in the article so whether it is Scotland specifically or not, it's on our doorstep.

Civilised nations have been flying flags, remembering people of oppressed groups and standing against discrimination for years. Why should the transgender people murdered for being transgender be any different?

Maybe transphobia and violence against trans people would be taken more seriously if TRAs hadn't tried to redefine everything so that everything that they don't like is transphobia and violence against trans people.

When TRAs try and stop debate because they don't like the facts, then people are not going to be on your side.

Wow, an open admission that people here don't care about violence against transgender people because people speak up against transphobia.

Amazing.

So this is who we are to fly the trans flag for:

A violent, abusive man who stalked a 13 year old girl.

George Floyd was a dangerous criminal but there were protests all over the world for him because racism is wrong. No one said police haven't murdered a black person in the UK so it's not our problem.

Transphobia and violence against trans people is wrong and the fact that some of them are criminals doesn't negate that.

BeBraveLittlePenguin · 28/12/2024 13:10

Maybe it's reverse psychology. They want us specifically to remember this violent male stalker as an example of where deranged GI can take us.
Yes, that must be it.
