Court report implies mass rape of Giselle Pelicot was revenge by her husband because she had had an affair

Dominique Pelicot may have recruited dozens of men to rape his drugged wife out of “revenge” for her having an extramarital affair, according to a written judgment by magistrates.

In the written judgment seen by Le Monde, the magistrates wondered whether Dominique Pelicot’s motives for abusing his wife and the choice of men recruited online were at least partially out of revenge for an affair Gisèle had with a work colleague.

They wrote that by specifically choosing each of the men on the basis of age, ethnicity, the size and shape of their sexual attributes, as well as collecting and storing several hundred hours of video footage of the assaults, “all contribute to feeding Dominique Pelicot’s perverse fantasies”.

They questioned Pelicot’s dismissal of revenge as a motive given that he “unequivocally confessed this desire for revenge to one of his contacts”.
“For her part, Gisèle Pelicot does not rule out the possibility of revenge,” they added.

Gisèle Picot mentioned the affair in court, saying it had gone on for some time and was the only extramarital relationship she had while her ex-husband had several.

She recounted how he had become furious when he found out.

And what excuses do all the other participants have?

Datun · 23/12/2024 07:30

He then admitted attempted rape to police investigators but denied using a knife as a weapon. He is expected to face trial at a later date.
He told police he had had an “urge” the moment he saw the woman,

Just an 'urge'.

I think some people just need to find a reason, because the fact that the man just wanted exciting orgasms can't be enough. He needs to be othered in a way.

And they don’t want the reason to be: because the internet has made it so much easier for all these despicable men to find each other.

Her affair doesn’t explain the rape of the two estate agents, including the murder of one which he’s now facing trial for, or him upskirting local women in the supermarket. 😠

“If not, why are you creating a thread to malign the poor woman.”

“OP was just questioning his motive, as were the magistrates.”

Many/most of Iwant’s threads are about media articles, with all sorts of viewpoints set out in those articles, it doesn’t mean she agrees with the articles. Nowhere in her post does she question his motive herself, she’s drawing attention to the media report. And she said this in her opening post. “This has made me so angry all over again.”

Was his wife's affair his motivation for upskirting all those women? Or the alleged rape of another woman? Or the alleged rape and murder of a third woman, for which he is to stand trial? Or abusing his own daughter and daughters in law?

He's a predatory, dangerous pervert who needs no excuse other than a day ending in Y.

Great, let's now have a smear campaign and drag up all the dross available because of course she deserved everything she got, because she had an affair with.

can you not see the madness of this situation OP? Do you really think she deserved what she got. If not, why are you creating a thread to malign the poor woman.

I think the point is that he claimed this was an addiction and he was unable to stop, however actually it seems this may all have been a form of revenge.

No one here is claiming she is anything but the victim of an abhorrent crime, OP was just questioning his motive, as were the magistrates.

You might need to decide if following this strange case is worth your mental investment. The media will craft this story like a soap opera to generate click bait.

Can we drop the idea of a perfect victim? So what if she had an affair. It doesn't malign her. It makes her human.

If negative attributes about a victim are hidden it contributes to the idea anything unpleasant about the woman negates or justifies what the man did.

I believe if it was mentioned in court, then it is relevant to mention in the judgement. But it is a different legal system, who knows.

An affair is no justification to be drugged & raped, I still can't believe he only got 20 years, they should have locked him up for life & the same for any of the men who took part. Why didn't he just end the marriage if he found she had had an affair. I wonder if his claims are part of revenge for getting caught.

Perhaps they have to include considerations of motive in their judgement? And it sounds like this point was specifically discussed during the trial assuming, what's been quoted above is correct.

Thanks I should have realised motive would be the reason.

NotVeryFunny · 23/12/2024 03:59

Thevelvelletes · 23/12/2024 02:01

Even if she had an affair his reaction is not justified or reasonable for obvious reasons.
Why was that even brought up ?
