Good news, just released:

“The Commission on Human Medicines (CHM) has provided independent expert advice that there is currently an unacceptable safety risk in the continued prescription of puberty blockers to children. It recommends indefinite restrictions while work is done to ensure the safety of children and young people.”

I'm just worride the headline is: puberty blockers banned, everyone thinks 'good' and moves on when in reality we continue for years with children on official trials being harmed.

Understandable - but who'd have thought that this Labour government would ever ban pbs? They've spent years spouting trans mantra so have now done a major reverse ferret.
The fact they're now banned will make it very difficult for an ethics committee to have to acknowledge the ban and reasons while approving their use on children?

I'm worried about the trial but I do think this is very good news. It's changing the narrative that blockers are harmless and reversible, which so many people thought was gospel truth.

If you want to watch the statement in Parliament by Wes Streeting, it is available on Parliament TV beginning at 1.30pm. Some MP's responses are appalling.

Oh dear, MP Alex Sobel who recently wrote to Wes Streeting demanding that puberty blockers be reinstated, will be upset that he can’t sterilise kids any more.

the fucking ghoul.

It’s genuinely not. They can’t get it past an ethics committee.

Well you better tell Genspect about the definite information you have on this bc=ecause:

I'm not sure how they will get it through ethics, they shouldn't get it through ethcis but it looks like thy think they will somehow.

Cass thinks it'sgoing to happen.

Unless this announcmt today is forshdowing Wes putting the kibosh on the study, which would be Big News.

Do you have inisde inof @MrBungle ?

Isn't it more, they shouldn't be able to get it past an ethics committee?

I genuinely think it is can't

The reasons why all come up in "Time To Think" and indeed from TRA people as well, you can't have a blind trial and you can't give it to people if you think it really will hurt them etc

I'd like to think you are right and ir's not going to happen, but it is looking like a trial will happen, there will be 'no limit' to numbers on the trial and it will be starting early next year. Run by the new gendr clinics.

So children will still be getting puberty blockers.

Until we 'prove' what we already know: they harmed them.

Cass concluede lack of evidence for puberty blockers, so the push is going to be to get the evdience.

not even slightly.

For one the trail would not be everybody and for another the trail cannot ethically happen, it will never be a thing.

Of course the initial reaction on the transgenderUK subreddit is an incitement to violence:

Failing that, anyone fancy taking one for the team and doing a Luigi?

(Luigi Mangione being the prime suspect in murdering that healthcare insurance CEO in New York.)

Report it to the police

I mean it, someone is going to get hurt over this

Sounds positive except until we know the details of the clinical trials it doesn't seem true.

It seems like many children will still get the blockers but will be as part of the trial.

So business as usual but collecting data?

Not business as usual. There is no such thing as an open-ended clinical trial. It will be strictly limited in terms of numbers and duration.
